Animal ID: 88623Maxene (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maxene is a sweet and affectionate senior in search of her final and forever home. Her Foster Mom says she loves to snuggle up close. She follows from room to room and adjusts to reconnect when her Foster Mom breaks contact. She has been beautifully behaved with the low-key senior lab girl with whom she has been living, often curling up close beside her. She enjoys playing fetch and chasing her one true love, her big purple Jolly Ball! One of Maxine's many fans even bought her a ball of her very own so she can take it to her new forever home. So cute to watch her play - it's hard to believe she is 9 years old! She's been excellent ... (Read More)around kids over 10-years of age. She's a smart girl who knows her basic family dog manners like sit, down, come and gentle. She is house trained and crate trained but really prefers to be around her people. She rides well in the car and was calmly crated and left alone for several hours when needed. She doesn't do well with kitties and due to her prey drive she should not go home with cats or with dogs under 40 pounds. Maxene is a sensitive sort who isn't fond of strange dogs, fast moving cars, or bikes. They make her anxious and she prefers to be a home-body. Her ideal life is one where she mainly stays at home with her people, and where there is a 6-foot fenced yard where she can play with her doggie housemates and her big purple Jolly Ball until her heart's content. She is a very affectionate and devoted dog who will thrive with loving care. She adores her people and she would also do fine living as an only dog. She is a sweet, healthy senior who deserves a forever home where she will be included as one of the family. If you enjoy that same stay-at-home lifestyle and you're in search of a devoted companion dog, Maxene just might be your perfect match! (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jason is an amazing family dog! He was recently shipped to foster owners in after his owner, in the US Navy, was deployed. Jason is missing his owner terribly, and has developed separation anxiety as a result of the new surroundings. He needs a loving family who are able to be home with him most of the time. Jason is and always has been house broken, but has recently had some accidents when the foster owner leaves for work. A behaviorist has advised this is due to anxiety, and should resolve in the right environment with owners who can give him the time and attention he needs and very much deserves. He's such a great dog! Well worth the ... (Read More)patience needed to help him sort out his anxiety. (Less)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

~Welcome Ginger Snap~ I'm in what they call a 'foster home' in Northern California. I think that means I won't be here forever, but they said my forever home is somewhere out there. I am a tiny girl at 7 years old and still have a lot of some spunk left in me. One thing I need is daily exercise that helps me stay out of trouble while my family goes away. I love them so much, that sometimes I don't like them to leave... but I am learning very fast that I will be okay while they are gone! Please no kitties for me, as my foster mom says I have a prey drive. I love to box and play with my foster Dad and I mostly like to relax in the ... (Read More)house with them. I will do anything to make my family happy and love to sit and shake, and I'm so smart I could probably learn a lot more! Adoption application can be found at: www.charliesfoundation.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-02-00033RICKI (female)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This pretty gal is Ricki and she's approximately 6 years old. She is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. She came into the rescue as a bonded pair with Topper, but we quickly realized they both would thrive much better apart. Ricki is currently taking a couple of medications, for about another week, for kennel cough and an ear infection. She's doing great though, and will be moving to her foster home very soon. Ricki's ideal adopter would have experience with 'opinionated' older Boxer-girls, understand the growly-grumbling, and address/manage it accordingly. Ricki needs to learn it is no longer acceptable to greet other dogs and ... (Read More)people with growls and barks. Ricki is a dominant female and capable of pushing another dog around; her ideal housemate would be a mature, easy-going male (a pushy male would probably not tolerate Ricki's pushy attitude, which could possibly result in conflict). Ricki is not suitable for a household with another female. Ricki is crate-trained; however, if she were placed in a single-dog home, she would likely be able to earn the privilege of being left loose in the house. If the household has another dog, Ricki will need to be crated when no human is home; she is not trustworthy to be left unattended with another dog. Only after she is completely accepting of, and accepted by, any fur-sibling, should it be considered to leave her out loose. Aside from her barky/grumbly behaviors, Ricki is a very nice, typical senior girl. Very responsive to attention; comes when called, very little training is needed, aside from working on her grumbling habits, and she's not overly active. If you would like to welcome this senior Boxer-girl into your home and are willing to work on her manners, please let us know by filling out an adoption application - http://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/adopt (Less)

Cadence is a sweet, well behaved puppy, she does love to play a lot, she is potty trained, kennel trained, we have her sitting, shaking and she knows when you say bed time, to go get in bed. Cadence was abandoned by her previous owners, they PCS'd, we found her and at the time her paws were burnt from walking around On the hot pavement, she had been snake bit and was suffering from and infection. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-04-00016TYLER (male)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please meet Tyler (formerly Til), who came to us from a local Washington shelter. Tyler is 6 years old, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Tyler has spent the last couple of weeks with one of our trainers in order to assess his needs, as he came into the rescue with very little background information. We can tell he definitely needs work on his over-all manners and will do best in a home with previous Boxer experience. Tyler is a good boy; although he lacks social grace when interacting with other dogs, he is showing gradual improvement in minding his own business and learning to heed his handler's commands. It's ... (Read More)clear that he's had very little training, but he is showing great potential. Tyler will thrive as the only dog in his forever home and doesn't have to share his space with young children. This handsome boy basically needs a chance for a new start; one that will include consistency and training. Tyler has a nice personality. He just needs to learn that paying attention to his human will bring lots of reward. Up until now, there was insufficient or no incentive for behaving well, so he did what came naturally, which we can't blame him for. A skilled handler will be able to build on Tyler's food drive in order to re-direct and increase focus with positive reinforcement training. We will be enrolling him in obedience class to expedite this behavior remodeling. If you have boxer experience, the time and love to commit to this boy, we believe the payoff will be an awesome Boxer-boy companion. Let us know if you'd like to meet Tyler, by filling out an adoption application - http://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/#!adopt/cgag - and we'll be in touch to set something up. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Washington
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser.
