Rescue Me ID: 15-04-20-00700Ronin (male)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

5 year old Ronin in need of a new home. We have had him since he was a puppy and our hearts break over having to give up a member of our family. We are just not able to provide the exercise that he needs and deserves. He would be best going to a home with out small children or other dogs. He recently corrected our 18 month old daughter and now our daughters caregiver is not comfortable with them together. This has lead to Ronin leading most of his day separate from the family which he hates. This is a really lovable guy who will remain a lifelong companion for someone, just be prepared to share you bed with him.

Petunia 8yr old female 65lbs Good with dogs Cat possible? Crate and house trained Basic commands, Good on leash Burien, WA Well hello there dear! My name is Petunia. I was found by Animal Control and they were so kind as to take me in and give me a good health check before handing me over to the wonderful folks at Northwest Boxer Rescue. So my past is a bit of a mystery. But I think it gives me that mysterious older woman allure. They think I am around 8 years old. I didn't show much interest in cats. And I'm good with other dogs. Right now I have two foster brothers who are 3 and 6. At first they were a bit annoying trying wrestle with ... (Read More)me. But I have had a few litters in my day and I kindly told them to chill out. I'm a lady and I do not wrestle. I snuggle. My mommy instincts have kicked in and I keep their faces and ears clean. They seem to enjoy getting a daily grooming. We all sleep in the bed with our foster parents. Sometimes if it gets too crowded either myself or one of my foster brothers will go sleep on the couch. Before I could figure out how to get up on the bed I slept on a bed next to theirs and I was fine with that too. I was close to my foster family and that made for sweet dreams. Foster mom says I snore almost as loud as foster dad, but I'm pretty sure ladies do not snore. It has to be one of those pesky boys. I really like being with my people. I will follow my foster parents from room to room and lay near them. And when they are on the couch I like to snuggle next to them and give kisses. I haven't gone on many walks yet as I am recovering from being spayed but I don't pull when I am on my leash. I go into my crate and I do ok in it. I would prefer to be left out so I can lie on the couch, or even better go with you. But I understand sometimes the crate is necessary. I really like it here but they keep talking about this great place called a 'forever home' and I have to say that it sounds like somewhere I'd really like to be. If you're looking for a sweet old gal with plenty of spunk and wiggle in her butt then we should meet! I'm told that you need to fill out an application, and that my adoption fee is waived! www.nwboxerrescue.org/#!adoption-form/c1dw9 (Less)

Health: Spayed

Lexi 5 yr old female Dog friendly Kid friendly House and crate trained Dog savvy cat likely ok Basic training Shelton, WA Hello there, Lexi here to tell you about myself. I am 5 years young and full of enthusiasm for life. I am very mellow in the house and will not destroy things. I am house trained. I do sleep in my kennel when my family has to be away and I really don't mind. It gives me a chance to relax and catch up on my sleeping so I can be ready to play when they get back. I love to play with toys, especially if they squeak. I also like to play tug-o-war and bug chasing! I will study them until I can grab them with my mouth. It's ... (Read More)so much fun. I like to play with other dogs in my home too. There is even a cat here and I am very curious but I do not chase her. I like to look at the cat and I think the cat knows how to handle its own so I better leave it alone. Sometimes I am so excited to see them I forget I am not supposed to jump up and greet them. My foster family is working with me on this and I am getting so much better. Sometimes it is just so hard not to be excited. I like all kids but I just need to remember to not jump on the little ones. I am getting better but need more practice. I love to go on walks but I am not the best on my leash. I do like to pull and get very excited if another dog comes by. I get corrected and have to sit when this happens but this is so hard for me. I just want to check them out. I am very strong so I need someone who can make me realize I do not need to act like that on my leash. You just need to be a strong leader who can help me. I love to ride in the car. It is my most favorite thing to do. You can take me for a ride anywhere. Oh yea, I can sit, lay and even introduce myself with a handshake. I am very loyal and would love a family who appreciates that. I will love you furever if you would like to choose me to be part of your family. I promise you will fall in love with me and my personality The first step is always to do an application! http://www.nwboxerrescue.org/#!adoption-form/c1dw9 (Less)

Annie 18 month old female Dog friendly Cat possible Older kids preferred due to shyness Soft, snuggly fur Pasco, WA I am sweet, shy Annie. I am a little slow to meet you, but once I know you won't hurt mem we will be the best of friends. I adore absolutely everyone I meet. I am the most mellow little girl for my age. My pasttimes are snuggling on the sofa next to you watching a movie, short strolls along a river, and midnight fridge raids for yummy goodies. I have a super soft coat that my foster mom loves to run her fingers over. I sit and let her rub my ears and face because it feels so good. I really kinda crave human touch that is soft ... (Read More)and gentle. I don't play with toys much bit in time I will, I also don't have the 'wiggle butt' down that I hear so much about, but again, in time I am positive it will show up. Please help me find my forever home. I am good with humans, probably best to have kids that are a little older because I am so shy, but dogs, big and litlle, young and old are great for me, I don't chase squirrels, so I don't think I would chase a kitty (but I am not sure as I haven't met one in my foster home) I want to be part of your family, whay do you think? Are you amenable to this? If so, I am located in Pasco, Washington and you can fill out an application for me online! www.nwboxerrescue.org/#!adoption-form/c1dw9 (Less)

Boss 7 yr old male Dog, cat, and kid friendly Thinks he can drive Loves love Tri-Cities, WA Hello Ladies! BossMan is my name and cute is my game! Do you find yourself missing SOMETHING in your life but just can't put your finger on it? Well put down that Faberge egg, give back the keys to that Beverly Hills mansion and pick up my leash! Little did you know I am PRICELESS!!!! My Foster momma says that I am the 'perfect Boxer' (With a face like this how on earth could she be wrong, and she's NEVER wrong). I have the 'cutest butt' and 'biggest heart' she's seen in a while. Mom likes to tell people that my old family gave up the wrong dog! I ... (Read More)have to agree! Are we a Fur-ever match? Likes: CUDDLING on the couch(my foster mom is going to have her own 'pup' soon and I like to climb on the couch and sleep with my head on her belly.) CUDDLING in bed (I apparently make an excellent body pillow though I'm not sure what that really means. I assume it means I'm awesome.) *I would like to add that contrary to popular belief I do not snore. I am practicing my quiet sleeping for when the baby comes* SUN-BATHING in the yard RIDING IN THE CAR to ANYWHERE! (I'm secretly trying to get my drivers license so I slip into the drivers seat to test the waters when mom gets out of the car). I however do respect your driving bubble and stick to my front seat or back seat or both depending on wind speed and level of outside entertainment. BOUNDING across the yard while chortling and leaping with a tennis ball in my mouth. Dislikes: The neighbors loudmouth Pomeranian, he barks all the time so sometimes i chase him through the fence. Delays in breakfast, I have been known to wake you up with glee if you try and sleep in too long on the weekend. (I hear momma say 'I'm lucky I'm cute' a lot on those mornings, luck has nothing to do with my rugged good looks so I'm confused) My Foster momma asked what I was looking for in a new family; so I engaged in some self reflection and gave her my list. PEOPLE - ANY AND ALL as long as you cuddle me. I love my momma but like men and children too! I am getting older so kids who would be less apt to use me as a jungle gym would probably be best. Though if I can deal with Stitch I cold probably handle ANYONE! CATS - I love my foster brothers! When they let me we sleep together on the big fluffy "dog" beds that momma has out for us. I don't even chase or paw at them when I sneak up on them and stick my nose in their bum and they smack me (gimme a break it smells good, and why would you walk around with your tail held high if you DIDN'T want someone to sniff it??) I don't like the cat box like some dogs I hear do, however I do believe that the cats are being fed a much tastier food than I am so, SOMETIMES (ok every time, man give a dog a break!) I like to clean up their plates. DOGS - I currently have 2 foster brothers whom I LOVE. They are older like me (13 and 10) so we get each other. We like to play but not with the same umph we use to. Momma usually makes us stop before we want because "we will pay for it later". I like to play with other dogs and meeting them on our adventures. I get along with everyone as long as they are laid back like me. In my old life my brother was jealous of my sparkles and picked on me. IMPORTANT TO KNOW as momma calls it (I have no clue what 'important' means so I'm just gonna let her have this one). I am both house and crate trained though I don't have to spend time in the crate here, I would. I'm not a noise maker, sometimes I will bark if someone knocks on the door, but usually only if one of my brothers does. When I was just a young pup I lost a fight with a car and hurt my left hip. My doctor gave me some medicine that makes it feel A LOT better and helps me to maintain my young stud attitude. While i have no concept of money cause well everything just appears, my foster momma said I would have to man the kissing booth and give about 50 kisses at $1 each to cover the cost of my medication each month. I'm ok with that cause I LOVE giving kisses!!! Around these parts we get 2 squares a day, 3 cups of Natural Balance Potato and Duck. YUMMMM is all I have to say! Mom said that once I gain some weight, I was going on a diet. SOMEONE please explain how that makes ANY sense?!?!?! SO Are we a match? Think about it and get back to me. Everyone needs a little sparkle in their life!. Don't forget that all our senior pups have their adoption fees waived! (Less)

Bam 4 yr old male Dog friendly House trained Working towards Good Citizen status Idiopathic head tremors Mead, WA Bam is a snuggly, playful and a purely wonderful four year old boy! He loves to run, play and be in your company. Bam came to NWBR after being surrendered by his family. He spent his time outdoors and was neglected. He has been through so much and is turning out to be just a charmer! Upon intake, it was clear Bam had immediate medical and behavioral needs. He was first taken to the vet where he underwent a neuter, vaccinations, microchipping and had a large mass removed from his side. While healing, it was discovered Bam ... (Read More)suffers from Idiopathic Head Tremors. These tremors resemble a seizure where (only) the dog's head bobs. While the dog is experiencing a tremor, it is alert and pain free. Once the tremors stop, the dog is back to normal. It is unclear why some dogs have these tremors. The tremors cause more anxiety to the owners who must sit and watch their dog tremor, than to the dog itself. In between doctor's visits, Bam has been going through extensive behavioral and obedience training with a professional trainer. Bam was presenting all sorts of undesirable behavior and wasn't able to demonstrate any obedience skills even as simple as 'sit'. As it turns out, Bam just needed a chance and a stage to perform! He works very hard and is eager to please. He is now well on his way to being able to pass the Canine Good Citizen test and is being fostered with seven other dogs (both female and male). He is trusted and able to be left unattended with the other dogs and is used as part of the 'Welcome Wagon' to welcome other fosters into the home. His gentle, yet playful nature is calming and welcoming to others. Bam has been through a lot to say the least yet he continues to be one happy, wiggly boy and is grateful to have been rescued and receiving love! If you are interested in making Bam part of your home, please head over to our application! www.nwboxerrescue.org/#!adoption-form/c1dw9 (Less)

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Franny 8-10 yr old female Mellow gal Loves people! Crate & house trained Seattle, WA I'm Franny. I love people; especially ones that give me massages, peanut butter, and let me snooze in the sun. I have a favorite spot, right behind my ears, that I like to get rubbed. When that happens, I make a funny sound, because it feels so good! I get along with the dogs and people I have met here, including respectful children of all ages. I would rather not spend my time jogging or wrestling with energetic dogs since I'm a really mellow sweet older lady. I need a house full of soft beds, people who like snuggles, and ... (Read More)yummy treats! After arriving in rescue, my foster mom took me to the vet and they discovered I have mastocytoma, a form of cancer most often called mast cell tumors. To support my immune system my foster mom gives me grain free food with yogurt, pumpkin and fish oil and this has helped me fill out and get my girlish figure back. I drink lots of water cause cancer just makes a girl thirsty. As a result I need more frequent poddy breaks. I'm a complete sweetheart, have amazing energy and I'm so happy I just bounce around with excitement. I would love to find a home where I can relax, play, and be my wonderful self. I can promise you lots of gentle kisses and a devoted best friend. Can I add my special brand of sunshine to your life? Rescue Me ID: 15-04-19-00575Abby & Buck (male)

Boxer    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis,
 Cancer

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Abby & Butkus Bonded pair 12 yr old male, 10 yr old female Dog friendly House trained Kid friendly Laid back and mellow Kingston, WA Butkus (Buck) and Abby are a wonderful pair of seniors who are completely bonded to each other. They are almost always touching each other and are never in separate rooms. Abby is most definitely in charge and Buck happily let's her run the show. He is such a laid back type of guy he routinely lets her sit right down on top of him! At 12 years old, Buck is just starting to show his age. He has a few creaky joints, and a couple lumps, but most likely has many more years to be ... (Read More)Abby's perch. Our vet thinks it's possible he has a little bit of Lab mixed in with all his Boxer goodness, which would explain his long legs and could give him some additional longevity. He is a big boy at 90 pounds, but he plays with the very young puppy in his foster home so very gently. He lets that little rascal climb all over him, bite his tail and even try to ride him like a pony, and Buck just gives a small sigh as if to say, 'look what I have to put up with!' Abby is a very young 9 years old with a super sweet temperament. She just wants to be loved on and will wiggle her way into the middle of anyone else getting some attention. She can hear petting going on two rooms away! She makes sure both Buck and the young pup know she is the boss in a very gentle, non threatening way. She does love to be outside and exploring but her favorite thing to do is nap next to her people and Buck. Since Abby has been with NWBR, new mast cell tumors have been found and she is just starting to show some signs of discomfort. The pair came into the rescue from a home where they lived exclusively outside until their owner died and his son could not keep them. For outside dogs they have adjusted beautifully to inside life and it seems to their foster family that they have always been inside dogs. They have very obviously been given people food in the past and Buck will grab anything left within his reach, but they listen when told to stay away or down and don't beg at the table. They absolutely LOVE going in the car! They will race for the door when the magic words 'let's go' are said. They can stay alone in the car with no issues other than a possible move into the front for a better view. Abby and Buck also love walks, but Buck is a major puller and should always be walked with a front leashed harness. Abby does beautifully on leash and so does Buck when he has the right equipment. Both dogs are beginning to get a little picky about what othwr dogs are around them and we don't know about cats. They are superb with children, no jumping up or pushing over. They can be left alone in the home without getting into anything, so crating is not necessary as long as they have each other. They will bark an alert if they hear someone at the door and will head to the fence line when the neighbors dog barks, but both stop barking almost immediately. These two amazing dogs would be perfect companions for any family and will most certainly bring such joy and loving that you will just not believe! Abby and Buck are being fostered in Kingston, WA.     Ruger 2 yr old male Dog friendly Kid friendly Basic training Smart and eager to learn House and crate trained Yelm, WA Hi! My name is Ruger! I am a two year old Fawn, sweet natured boxer weighing in at 69 lbs. I am looking for a loving family that I can call my own. I get along well with other dogs and love to play. I am a typical boxer boy full of energy and silliness, but also love to cuddle with my humans. I live with two other boxers, male and female and we are the best of friends. I am not sure about those small fluffy things called cats - I haven't been around them so it would be best if my adoptive family had one to slowly ... (Read More)introduce me and would need some time to know if we are a good fit. Did I mention I also love children? My previous family had children and if my adoptive family does too, I just know that we would be best of friends in no time at all. I've lived with younger and older children. I am smart guy and have a few skills I'm pretty proud of. I know Sit, Stay, Lay down and walk well on a leash unless I get super excited but I'm easily redirected. My foster Mom says I'm a work in progress and there are no limits to what I can learn. My foster Mom has bathed me and she said I'm a champ during bath time, too. An active home that would provide leadership, structure and where I would be completely part of the family me would be my ideal home. I'm a good boy in the house but also can spend some time in a crate and I don't mind just chillin' out there as well. Wherever you are, is where I want to be.     Beautiful, misunderstood Zoey! This wonderful, 2ish yr old girl is about 10lbs underweight. She weighs approx 50lbs but should be closer to 60lbs. She's had very little training so needs manners... but she's very smart and is learning quickly. She is a typical young-ish Boxer... jumpy, mouthy and a little stubborn. This PREVIOUS behavior has caused some to call her aggressive. Her behavior was really a result of no guidance and rules, little attention and lack of socialization. She is learning to socialize with other calm energy, neutral dogs but it would be best if she were the only dog in the home... and no cats for this girl. Precious was with her when her mom died, in Oakland, but somehow got out and was found the following day in Berkeley. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Duke and I am an energetic young adult male Boxer mix looking for a place to call home. Could that home be with you? I would love a family or single person to call my own. I am a very nice boy, and I get along great with people. I love children, and I do well with large dogs. I would be best in a home without small dogs because I have a strong prey drive. I'm sweet, affectionate, and I really love attention and affection from my humans. I'm learning how to walk on a leash and I'm doing better each day. I'm food motivated, so bribing me with treats has helped me excel in my training. Everyone says I'm a GREAT looking dog and ... (Read More)I've got the personality to match. As an added bonus, I'm fully house trained and crate trained. I am neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on all my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $250. If you think you might have the right home for me, please visit the Valhalla Canine Rescue website at www.valhallarescue.org/ourdogs/adoptable and fill out an adoption application. My adoption fee allows Valhalla Rescue to continue to provide care and medical treatment (including spay/neuter services) for dogs like me while we look for our forever homes. This fee also helps cover the ongoing costs of caring for less adoptable dogs who require longer stays in the shelter, or more advanced medical treatment before finding their forever homes. Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Help! The foster is in danger of becoming a foster fail with this sweet guy! This handsome hunk is Chum Lee. He is a purebred boxer who is almost 4 years old, his birthday is August 2011. He is an absolute lover who loves his people and very eager to please. He will walk by your side, wait for you to finish your task and hang out with you all day! He is not overly excited or energetic and will do well with a nice long walk or jog as his exercise, even a nice romp around the yard with a buddy will make him happy. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes but will chase the cats and smaller critters. He is very respectful inside the home by ... (Read More)not jumping on the bed or furniture unless invited and will curl up in his bed to just hang out. He has been caught sunbathing outside. He will lay his head in your lap and gaze at you with those sweet eyes while you shower him with affection. Chum does very well on a leash and hardly pulls or tugs unless he is smelling something new. He walk on your right side just a step behind you and is very content. He pays no attention to barky, obnoxious dogs and keeps going. He has had a few accidents in the house while making the transition to an inside dog in a brand new environment but has never marked or pooped. He is fully kennel trained and is very comfortable inside of one. He knows how to use a dog door and will come and go. With all the wonderful stuff being said he is known to be a fence jumper. He has not tried to jump the 6' fence at his foster home but is never left alone outside to attempt it. When I leave the house he is kenned to ensure his safety. While we are home he really rather be with his people then trying to escape the yard but we can not be too sure that if we leave him in the backyard alone he won't get bored and try to jump the fence. We would like for all potential adopters who have yards he would play in to have a fence at least 6' tall and not chain link as boxers are also known to climb them. He is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, and on heart worm prevent. Adoption Fee: $375 The fee includes all the medical, microchipping, health certificate, and travel to the PNW. He is currently fostered in Tumwater, WA (Less)

Tommy is about 18mo old, weighs about 60ish lbs, and he's a total goof! He looks just like a Shar Pei but his energy and behavior is all Boxer! He LOVES his playtime with other dogs and will stand and bat them... so typical of the boxer breed. He's a very energetic boy so he must have another dog in the home or have plenty of doggy play dates, along with daily jogging and / or running with his person. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Washington
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
