Rescue Me ID: 15-06-23-00589Charlie (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

CHARLIE Boxer Mix 7 Years Old Good With All Dogs NO CATS OR OTHER SMALL ANIMALS Basic Manners Wonderful Companion Spokane, WA If you are looking for a Tigger type dog . . . then I'm not the one for you. There's no bouncing, flouncing, hopping or flopping going on here. Well, maybe just for a moment or two when I first see you and then I'm all about bringing the Zen to your life. I'm Charlie, a boxer mix with maybe a good dash of St. Bernard who is a sensible seven years old, past those unenlightened puppy years but still ready and able to fill your life with love and fun. Humans are my preferred companions but I peacefully share ... (Read More)space with my fellow canines. As I value the role of physical activity in creating a peaceful mind, I will also engage in an energetic romp with my canine companions for a good two, maybe three minutes. Being a mature dog, I know that moderation is the key to happiness so after all that exercise, I prefer to meditate as I walk by your side or sit with you in the shade. The only time I put forth single-minded energy when I need to protect you and basically the world from cats, birds, or any other little fluffy or feathered menaces. A home with none of these beings is an absolute must. I've lived with children and I really like them. Sometimes, they can be a little and fluffy too but I take a 'live and let live' attitude with all humans. Of course, we all have flaws, and I'd have to admit that I'm a bit vain. Nothing better than a couple hours of brushing. Do I need it? No, but do I deserve it? I think the universe would say, 'Yes.' My foster mom would also say that I love food a bit too much. Sure, I weigh a 100 pounds but doesn't Buddha have a bit of a belly? In any case, I admit to nibbling at food left on the counter and might need to work on my self-discipline in that regard. Walking the path to enlightenment is not without its challenges. On the plus side, I will definitely work for food so training is a piece of cake . . . or bacon . . . or ham. . . I digress but what a lovely little bit of mental meandering! Anyway, I've got most of the basics down - crate training, potty training, sit, stay, etc. You can't do better than me if you are looking for a whole lotta love and companionship in big, beautiful, easy-going package. P.S. I may or may not have some St. Bernard in my DNA but I'd be happy to carry the beverage of your choice around my neck for you either way (no judgement here, grasshopper, but moderation . . . remember moderation). Rescue Me ID: 15-06-09-00657Taurus (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Taurus (the plain nose) came to me from vet that can't say 'No' to helping to rescue beautiful dogs. We believe her to be about 8-10 mos old; spayed, DHPP (dog vax), Rabies Vax, microchipped...and doing fine. She has had no obedience training, so her behavior will have to be improved, but she is SOOOOO happy and just loves everyone. Being the age she is and the energy level she has, I'm sure she'd chase cats especially if the cats ran, but with the right training, she might do quite well. She is medium-high energy...NOT obsessive/compulsive. She currently is about 40#s and bound to get larger. She doesn't try to escape...no digging ... Rescue Me ID: 15-05-12-00515Lucky (female)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Lucky and I am absolutely awesome with adults, kids and other dogs (whether they be female or male(say friends dog or at the dog park, BUT I need to be in a one dog family. At my current family has two other much smaller dogs who I have dominated aggressively (no broken skin) because I am always competing to be alpha amongst the dogs in my household. I am turning 5 year old this month. I have been trying to take medicine to try and stay in the home with the other dogs, but it isn't working well enough. I have worked with Dr. Sung from All Creatures Behavior http://allcreaturesbehavior.com/index.html and reactive Rover class ... (Read More)which has completely help my ability to paly at the dog park and with other dog friends multiple times a week with no incidents. Again this is about me having a one dog family. I love to be cuddled and loved. I love to sleep on the end of the bed or at least in the same room. I am fully crate trained and potty trained. I even ring a bell at the door when I need to go potty. I am looking for an incredibly loving home who is familiar already with boxer temperament. Namely I am a huge cuddle bug, but I am having severe issues dealing with the dominance aspect of having other dogs living in my home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-03-00344Oakley (male)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Oakley is a sweet, snuggly boy who has a tremendous amount of energy. He loves to sit and snuggle, but he also loves to run, jump and play. And boy, can he jump! He would be a great candidate for agility work if someone wants to get into agility events. He is a smart, quick learner. He is food motivated and easy to train. Oakley lives in his foster home with three female dogs, and a male dog. He also lives with two small, dog savvy children (5 and 8), but should only go to a home with older kids or very dog savvy younger kids due to his energy level and play habits. He gets along well with everyone he meets, human and dog alike, but needs ... (Read More)proper introductions to both dogs and humans. He is a very good guard dog and is extremely wary of strangers. He is boundary protective at home and in the car. He does have a strong prey drive though and as such should not be placed in a home with cats, chickens or livestock. Oakley has been afraid of men and anyone wearing a hat or hood in the past. He is learning to overcome this fear, but any potential adopter should be aware that he has this predisposition to fear people wearing hats and hoods (even children). His vet suggested that he may have some seasonal and/or skin allergies and will also need to be monitored for possible reoccurrence of his itching. Potential adopters will need to be prepared to handle any ongoing skin issues that may arise. Oakley has a lot of great qualities, but as a young dog (very puppy -like) he still has a few bad habits. He likes to chew. He isn't generally destructive, but when left home alone he likes to get into mischief. He will test the waters with chewing new things he can scavenge so it is important to keep his area puppy-proofed (like candles or stray bags of food/treats). He is also a table surfer. He has been caught many times with all fours on the dining room table licking clean the kids' plates or stealing food while we are setting the table. To avoid this behavior, appropriate accommodations are needed. As long as you are with him, he won't behave this way. If you must leave food out, make sure he has no access to it (keep him behind a closed door or gated off area. We use baby/pet gates all around out home to help with this. Oakley isn't yet crate trained because our focus when he came into the rescue was to get him healthy first and foremost. Now that he is healed, the process has begun. Oakley is very barrier protective. He will growl and bark if anyone he doesn't know (or sometimes does know) approaches the fence, car, house door, etc. He even attempted to jump out the car window once when a car pulled up at a light with another dog in it. As such, it will be important to notify any guests coming to your home how to react when he barks at them (we can show you what to do) and to keep him safe in the car by not leaving windows down too far. He is a very good alert dog and sounds very imposing despite his small stature. Oakley is a very loud player. He barks at dogs and humans alike when he plays. It is a sharp, shrill sound that can be alarming if you don't know that he is playing. And lastly, when he plays with people (just as he plays with dogs) Oakley likes to chew. He doesn't bite in the sense that he is trying to hurt the dog or person he is playing with, but he does grab at hands, legs, tushes and clothes with his teeth. He doesn't use pressure or make marks, but it can also be alarming to an inexperienced dog handler. In order to help him with these unsavory behaviors, Oakley has been working with a trainer to learn more appropriate social skills. He was never properly trained or socialized as a young pup, and unfortunately, this is the outcome. Oakley is very smart and food motivated so he will be easy to redirect with consistent and appropriate behavior management that will need to continue even after adoption. As such, we recommend only experienced boxer owners apply to adopt him. Oakley will be a great dog for a family or individual who wants an exercise companion or someone wanting to get into agility work. He is so sweet, handsome and loving, but he does need a firm leader to guide and teach him. In the right home and with the right people, he will grow and flourish to become a fabulous companion animal. (Less)

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Franny 8-10 yr old female Mellow gal Loves people! Crate & house trained Seattle, WA I'm Franny. I love people; especially ones that give me massages, peanut butter, and let me snooze in the sun. I have a favorite spot, right behind my ears, that I like to get rubbed. When that happens, I make a funny sound, because it feels so good! I get along with the dogs and people I have met here, including respectful children of all ages. I would rather not spend my time jogging or wrestling with energetic dogs since I'm a really mellow sweet older lady. I need a house full of soft beds, people who like snuggles, and ... (Read More)yummy treats! After arriving in rescue, my foster mom took me to the vet and they discovered I have mastocytoma, a form of cancer most often called mast cell tumors. To support my immune system my foster mom gives me grain free food with yogurt, pumpkin and fish oil and this has helped me fill out and get my girlish figure back. I drink lots of water cause cancer just makes a girl thirsty. As a result I need more frequent poddy breaks. I'm a complete sweetheart, have amazing energy and I'm so happy I just bounce around with excitement. I would love to find a home where I can relax, play, and be my wonderful self. I can promise you lots of gentle kisses and a devoted best friend. Can I add my special brand of sunshine to your life? Rescue Me ID: 15-04-19-00575Abby & Buck (male)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis,
 Cancer

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Abby & Butkus Bonded pair 12 yr old male, 10 yr old female Dog friendly House trained Kid friendly Laid back and mellow Kingston, WA Butkus (Buck) and Abby are a wonderful pair of seniors who are completely bonded to each other. They are almost always touching each other and are never in separate rooms. Abby is most definitely in charge and Buck happily let's her run the show. He is such a laid back type of guy he routinely lets her sit right down on top of him! At 12 years old, Buck is just starting to show his age. He has a few creaky joints, and a couple lumps, but most likely has many more years to be ... (Read More)Abby's perch. Our vet thinks it's possible he has a little bit of Lab mixed in with all his Boxer goodness, which would explain his long legs and could give him some additional longevity. He is a big boy at 90 pounds, but he plays with the very young puppy in his foster home so very gently. He lets that little rascal climb all over him, bite his tail and even try to ride him like a pony, and Buck just gives a small sigh as if to say, 'look what I have to put up with!' Abby is a very young 9 years old with a super sweet temperament. She just wants to be loved on and will wiggle her way into the middle of anyone else getting some attention. She can hear petting going on two rooms away! She makes sure both Buck and the young pup know she is the boss in a very gentle, non threatening way. She does love to be outside and exploring but her favorite thing to do is nap next to her people and Buck. Since Abby has been with NWBR, new mast cell tumors have been found and she is just starting to show some signs of discomfort. The pair came into the rescue from a home where they lived exclusively outside until their owner died and his son could not keep them. For outside dogs they have adjusted beautifully to inside life and it seems to their foster family that they have always been inside dogs. They have very obviously been given people food in the past and Buck will grab anything left within his reach, but they listen when told to stay away or down and don't beg at the table. They absolutely LOVE going in the car! They will race for the door when the magic words 'let's go' are said. They can stay alone in the car with no issues other than a possible move into the front for a better view. Abby and Buck also love walks, but Buck is a major puller and should always be walked with a front leashed harness. Abby does beautifully on leash and so does Buck when he has the right equipment. Both dogs are beginning to get a little picky about what othwr dogs are around them and we don't know about cats. They are superb with children, no jumping up or pushing over. They can be left alone in the home without getting into anything, so crating is not necessary as long as they have each other. They will bark an alert if they hear someone at the door and will head to the fence line when the neighbors dog barks, but both stop barking almost immediately. These two amazing dogs would be perfect companions for any family and will most certainly bring such joy and loving that you will just not believe! Abby and Buck are being fostered in Kingston, WA. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Beautiful, misunderstood Zoey! This wonderful, 2ish yr old girl was about 10lbs underweight when we got her, but is now close to 60lbs. She's had very little training so needs manners... but she's very smart and is learning quickly. She is a typical young-ish Boxer... jumpy, mouthy and a little stubborn. This PREVIOUS behavior has caused some to call her aggressive. Her behavior was really a result of no guidance or rules, little attention and lack of socialization. In less than one week of setting a few guidelines, Zoey is quickly becoming a well-mannered, loving girl. Because she still needs more training and can be a bit ...     Hi! My name is Duke and I am an energetic young adult male Boxer mix looking for a place to call home. Could that home be with you? I would love a family or single person to call my own. I am a very nice boy, and I get along great with people. I love children, and I do well with large dogs. I would be best in a home without small dogs because I have a strong prey drive. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Washington
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
