Buster, a young Lab Boxer mix, is looking for his forever family. His foster dad says, 'Buster has been great so far. He knows how to use a dog door, no longer needs to be crated, and doesn't have accidents! Buster loves to play, but isn't a rough houser. He really likes his rope toy. Buster likes to get on furniture and beds but knows what to do if I tell him otherwise. Buster happily greets me when I get home and is ready to play. He thinks he is a lap dog and loves to relax with his people.' Buster has reportedly done well with other dogs and cats and enjoys making new friends. Please contact adoptions@nwkare.org to set up a meet and ... (Read More)greet with Buster! Well hey there! My name is Buster! I am an 8-month-old Lab Boxer mix looking for a family of my own. I'm one fun-loving boy that has a lot of energy stashed inside this body of mine. You see, I'm not what you would classify as a couch potato. I'm quite the contrary actually, and love to have physical and mental stimulation! If you are looking for an active dog that will be able to keep up with you on runs, hikes, or really long walks, I'm your guy! It's fun to get outdoors and explore the world around you, don't you think? I do! I'm a sweet boy that enjoys being in the company of people. I enjoy making new friends and do well other dogs and cats! I should probably have a home with older children due to my energy level. I know I will make a family very happy with my goofy personality and sweet charm. I promise to be your loyal companion every single day and I can't wait to start my life with you! $250 adoption fee, which includes neuter, micro-chip, shots, worming and flea treatment. Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

~Welcome Ginger Snap~ I'm in what they call a 'foster home' in Northern California. I think that means I won't be here forever, but they said my forever home is somewhere out there. I am a tiny girl at 7 years old and still have a lot of some spunk left in me. One thing I need is daily exercise that helps me stay out of trouble while my family goes away. I love them so much, that sometimes I don't like them to leave... but I am learning very fast that I will be okay while they are gone! Please no kitties for me, as my foster mom says I have a prey drive. I love to box and play with my foster Dad and I mostly like to relax in the ... (Read More)house with them. I will do anything to make my family happy and love to sit and shake, and I'm so smart I could probably learn a lot more! Adoption application can be found at: www.charliesfoundation.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-02-00033RICKI (female)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This pretty gal is Ricki and she's approximately 6 years old. She is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. She came into the rescue as a bonded pair with Topper, but we quickly realized they both would thrive much better apart. Ricki is currently taking a couple of medications, for about another week, for kennel cough and an ear infection. She's doing great though, and will be moving to her foster home very soon. Ricki's ideal adopter would have experience with 'opinionated' older Boxer-girls, understand the growly-grumbling, and address/manage it accordingly. Ricki needs to learn it is no longer acceptable to greet other dogs and ... (Read More)people with growls and barks. Ricki is a dominant female and capable of pushing another dog around; her ideal housemate would be a mature, easy-going male (a pushy male would probably not tolerate Ricki's pushy attitude, which could possibly result in conflict). Ricki is not suitable for a household with another female. Ricki is crate-trained; however, if she were placed in a single-dog home, she would likely be able to earn the privilege of being left loose in the house. If the household has another dog, Ricki will need to be crated when no human is home; she is not trustworthy to be left unattended with another dog. Only after she is completely accepting of, and accepted by, any fur-sibling, should it be considered to leave her out loose. Aside from her barky/grumbly behaviors, Ricki is a very nice, typical senior girl. Very responsive to attention; comes when called, very little training is needed, aside from working on her grumbling habits, and she's not overly active. If you would like to welcome this senior Boxer-girl into your home and are willing to work on her manners, please let us know by filling out an adoption application - http://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/adopt (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please join us in welcoming SAM, a 5-6 year old Boxer/Lab mix, to MustLuvBoxers Rescue. We were called upon to help Sam after he was found as a stray and picked up by a shelter in California. The staff fell in love with his sweet nature and neutral/non-reactive behavior toward all types of dogs, and worked diligently to get him into a foster-based rescue organization. Sam arrived in style in Bellingham, WA, via Pilots N Paws and MLBR is happy to have him with us! Sam is currently with one of our more experienced fosters who can help assess his conditions with respect to behavior and health. Early on he proved himself to be quite a crate ... (Read More)escape artist, but has since shown improvement with specific crate training. He is currently entering his crate easily (and staying put) and receives a treat for doing so. We think his previous escapes were purely opportunistic, but will be testing that theory in the coming days. Health points that his foster will be looking into include resolving a hematoma on one ear flap and flushing his very dirty ears'|all-too-common follow-up for a dog that's been on his own on the street for who knows how long. Sam does have numerous scrapes and scars on his legs, but if they were caused by run-ins with other other dogs, Sam appears to be none the worse for wear, as his friendly and outgoing personality remains intact. So far, he already walks well on leash, is very neutral to small and large dogs, loves to sleep on his bed or on the couch, and is always there to give you kisses. He does not react to children noises or other dog noises on other side of wooden fence at his foster home (neighbor does daycare for pre-school age kids). All in all, he's a great, loving dog. Very responsive, very attentive. Very food-oriented = VERY good!!! Sam is not quite ready for adoption just yet, as he is still under evaluation, as is usual procedure for our rescue program. Please check back regularly or message our inbox to get updates on his current status. However, if you are already thinking Sam might be the boy for you, please let us know by filling out an adoption application, which you can find here: http://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/#!adopt/cgag (Less)

Cadence is a sweet, well behaved puppy, she does love to play a lot, she is potty trained, kennel trained, we have her sitting, shaking and she knows when you say bed time, to go get in bed. Cadence was abandoned by her previous owners, they PCS'd, we found her and at the time her paws were burnt from walking around On the hot pavement, she had been snake bit and was suffering from and infection. We took her in, provided medical care through our local vet, she is up to date on all shots, spayed and chipped for her forever family. I want to make sure this baby doesn't go through the same thing again. She deserves a forever family.. She has a ... (Read More)lot of love to give and she loves to give hugs and snuggle! Rescue Me ID: 16-06-04-00016TYLER (male)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please meet Tyler (formerly Til), who came to us from a local Washington shelter. Tyler is 6 years old, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Tyler has spent the last couple of weeks with one of our trainers in order to assess his needs, as he came into the rescue with very little background information. We can tell he definitely needs work on his over-all manners and will do best in a home with previous Boxer experience. Tyler is a good boy; although he lacks social grace when interacting with other dogs, he is showing gradual improvement in minding his own business and learning to heed his handler's commands. It's ... (Read More)clear that he's had very little training, but he is showing great potential. Tyler will thrive as the only dog in his forever home and doesn't have to share his space with young children. This handsome boy basically needs a chance for a new start; one that will include consistency and training. Tyler has a nice personality. He just needs to learn that paying attention to his human will bring lots of reward. Up until now, there was insufficient or no incentive for behaving well, so he did what came naturally, which we can't blame him for. A skilled handler will be able to build on Tyler's food drive in order to re-direct and increase focus with positive reinforcement training. We will be enrolling him in obedience class to expedite this behavior remodeling. If you have boxer experience, the time and love to commit to this boy, we believe the payoff will be an awesome Boxer-boy companion. Let us know if you'd like to meet Tyler, by filling out an adoption application - http://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/#!adopt/cgag - and we'll be in touch to set something up. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Washington
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

Boxer
lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
