Rescue Me ID: 16-05-02-00569Homer (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Homer's Info... I am already neutered, up to date with shots, and not good with dogs. Homer's Story... Homer is a 5 year old boxer mix who survived a horrific cruelty case. The other dog starved to death in his crate but Homer was able to escape his crate and drink water from the pipes that had froze inside the house. Home is now healthy and ready to find a caring new home. He does become afraid and will snap when he is approached by strangers. We believe that he would be most successful in a home with and experienced dog owner. Training may help Homer over come some of his fears. We all love Homer and are so happy that we could help save ... (Read More)him! We know that an adopter will fall in love with him too! $175.00 adoption donation ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough) , microchipped and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites if needed. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as surgeries and dentals. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-02-00437Dodger (male)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dodger is a sweet white boxer who came to our family from a local shelter. He gets along very well with our older female dog and with our two elementary age children. He loves to snuggle up with a human companion, play with a ball or toy, or romp with his 'older sister'. Dodger 'talks' to us with characteristic boxer moaning and groaning, which is hilarious. He prefers to be inside instead of outside. He does not get along with the male dogs which are dominate our neighborhood. He's a great guy, but we feel that our home is not ideal for him. He will make a perfect companion for someone who doesn't have doggy neighbors.

Hello, my name is Mr. Perfect! I saw Corena put the name 'Buddy' on my intake sheet but I decided to rename myself something a little more fitting. I am Mr. Perfect because I sit, shake hands, adore humans and love other dogs. I adore my foster parents and I try really hard to listen and make them happy.     Tucker's Info... I am already neutered, housetrained, and up to date with shots. Tucker's Story... Tucker is a 7 year old boxer/pit mix who has been in and out of our adoption program for the past 6 years! Poor Tucker has just never been able to find a family who loves him unconditionally and can make a commitment to him! Tucker is a very laid back guy who enjoys lounging in the sun, napping and watching TV. He is also happy to go for runs or chase balls around the yard. Rescue Me ID: 16-04-28-00608Charlotte (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We are located ins Southwest VA about 5 and 1/2 hrs west of VA Beach near Mt.Airy NC. Don't let the distance scare you aware from adopting. We can deliver to you or meet you 1/2 way only for the minimal cost of our gas! You are also welcome to drive to us. Charlotte was born Dec 15th 2015. She is part blue heeler and boxer. She is absolutely stunning. Charlotte is our first rags to riches story of 2016. If you want to adopt a true 'rescue dog' then Charlotte would be the one! She came to use after a friend saved her from an area kill shelter. She would have been euthanized. She was not even old enough to be away from her mom. She was ... (Read More)neglected and was riddled with every parasite you could think of. Without us she would have surely died. Our vet treated her for the parasites but she developed rickets due to her weak immune system. Rickets is a condition where the body can not metabolize calcium and phosphorous in the food that is eaten( it is actually a pretty common thing among neglected puppies esp those who have a heavy load of parasites). The condition causes the legs to bow out, sometimes in a matter of day once it starts. I have a video of what Charlotte's looked like with her little bowed legs if you want to see it. She was so pitiful looking, however she was a fighter! Once we started treatment(she took supplements prescribed by the vet) within a week her legs were straight. We had to do a few weeks of physical therapy to strengthen her legs and muscles. Today she does not even look like the same puppy. She has nice straight legs. She has no signs of her issues remaining and nor will she have a problem in the future. She is a healthy and happy puppy and given a clean bill of health by our vet. Charlotte is great with other dogs, she is excellent with our cats. She is a great adults and with children and has even attended a Jr. Girl Scout meeting or 2 to play with the kids and to be socialized. She leads well and does great in the house. She is crate trained and will actually go to her crate at night when I tell her to. She will patiently wait for me to close the door and give her a treat. Now, how many 4 month old puppies can you say that about? We are working on potty training and she is doing as well as can be expected for a young puppy. We have gotten terribly attached to Charlotte during her stay with us. She should mature around 50-60 pounds. She loves to play fetch! She has had all her puppy shots and other required vaccinations, she is current on heartworm prevention, flea prevention and deworming. She is microchipped and comes with a free month of pet health insurance. She will have a complete physical and a certificate of health from our vet no more than 48 hrs prior to going to her new home if adopted out of state. We require a pre screen application to adopt.     She is very loving, and great around children, other dogs and cats. She does need a lot of attention and exercise however, and will become destructive when she is not allowed to release her pent up energy. Because of her breeds (Rottweiler, Labrador, Catahoula and Boxer) she is very intelligent and active, and she loves to run.     *Courtesy Posting* Rosa is a sweet and affectionate 1.5 year old boxer mix that was rescued from living life on a chain 24/7. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Molly is a young female who is just all kinds of fun. She was rescued from a local kill shelter when her time was almost up. From the marks on her neck, it was obvious that she had spent her life on a chain. She has healed and the marks are no longer visible. While her breed is unknown, she looks to be a mix of some type of bully breed and possibly Boxer. Molly has average-high energy and would do best with an active owner or an owner with another dog in the household. She has done well with other dogs and seems to just want to play. While our initial assessment was that this girl was about 3 years old, after bringing her into rescue, we ... (Read More)think she is probably closer to one year old.     Libby: 5-6 yo FS brindle and white boxer ISO forever home (special needs) I am a petite girl (43lb) who loves to play with people. I enjoy running and leaping in the backyard and napping in a dog bed while you watch TV. Having my ears and face rubbed is the best; a close second is tummy rubs. I'll be so excited to see you when you come home, I'll grab one of my toys and present it to you while wagging my whole body! But please, no roommates! I do not like sharing my toys or home with other dogs. I don't mind cats, sometimes they are fun to chase short distances. I'm not sure how I feel about young kids. They are kind of unpredictable and not ... (Read More)always gentle. I do need a family that will be patient with me. I was in a puppy mill for a long time, and my first family after that only taught me to sit. I don't jump on people, though, that would be rude. I now know to sit and wait to go outside or to get my food. My vet mom says my kidneys don't work properly, so I have to pee a lot, and I eat a special diet. I don't leak anymore because I'm on a low dose of medicine for that, but my bladder still gets full frequently. I will let you know when I have to go, even if it's in the middle of the night. My vet mom thinks I could learn to use pee pads at night so I don't have to wake anybody up. Please let my mom know if you think you could be my forever family. Never has he attacked anyone aggressively. He is just highly anxious. He has to go IMMEDIATELY! We are moving in 3 weeks and the stress levels in the house are out of control. He likely needs to go to a home where he can be re-trained. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old. He is completely house broken. He knows all basic commands. He was picked up as a stray and his owner never claimed him. He is estimated as being born around Sept 1,2015. Our best estimate he is a boxer maybe lab mix. Rudy is a sweet fellow who will be around 55-60 pounds when he matures. He is good with other dogs and cats. He was traumatized when he was picked up by animal control. They used a catch pole on him to catch him. Rudy is not happy about having a leash around his neck. However he is fine once you ... (Read More)reassure him he will be ok. I would be freaked out by it to if I was drug in by a catch pole! Other than that Rudy is a sweet happy go lucky boy. He is current on all shots, dewormed, started on heartworm prevention and he is current on flea prevention. He will receive a complete physical and a health certificate no more than 48 hrs prior to going to his new home if he is adopted out of state. The adopter will receive all health records. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Virginia
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
