Very sweet Boxer mix that the previous owners, knowing nothing about dogs, couldn't handle. He has been wormed and treated with frontline but has no vaccinations. We have 2 other dogs and he gets along great with them both. Stays inside at night and we have never had a problem with him messing in the house. He is healthy and we have had him on heartworm prevention since we rescued him. He has had some shots but the previous owner never gave us the info on them. He is housebroken, crate trained, and knows some commands. He has done very well with my other dogs and is still learning to be gentle with the cats. He will make a great addition to a family. Please find the above attached photos of a dog who I found on April 1st. His story kinda goes like this......... I found this pup, on Tenison St. in Dallas, un-neatuered, mal-nourished, worm, tick, and flea infested, with both eyes infected, and severely beaten in his face, on April 1st, 2012. The vet, and I have concluded that his spirit was beaten out of him, and knew he needed lots of TLC, and time. His deeply scarred face, and expression of fear in his eyes tells of the horrific beginnings of his life. Since then he has been neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, de-wormed, treated for his eye-infection, and is heart-worm negative. He is ... (Read More)approximately 13 months old, and an absolute giver of joy. I woke each day expecting the sight of a torn up yard, and an unruly pup, but instead, I'm greeted with Bette Midler eyes, and contagious smile, and quick wags of his tail, greeting me as if to say, 'look I did no bad, and look!.....See how beautiful it is today?... and can you teach me a new trick'? Witness to this daily routine, and seeing a spark of hope glitter in his sweet apprehensive eyes, I was reminded of my purpose in a dog's life. Having been a dog trainer for approximately 20 years, and have worked with the Terrier/Lab mix breed, I knew there was indeed hope. As always, I first started with performing all the temperament testing on him. He has shown no signs of aggressiveness, even in his fearful moments. Next, we worked on basic commands, and after his quick learn abilities, moved forward to the leash training. He was deathly afraid of the leash, and we think someone had either drug him, or held him down on a leash to abuse him in the face. He's now sitting, laying down, is running a mile to two miles a day on a leash, and sleeps soundly in his crate. He LOVES to run next to someone, and is actually now holding his tail up! (please refer to my slogan below) Within the last two weeks he has made great strides, especially with all the physical changes, and issues being addressed, and shows great potential of being a WONDERFUL companion to someone with a gentle, trusting hand. He has a long name, Tenison, for the street I found him, Smitty, because he's so Smitten, (in love) with the opportunity to be the expressive pup that he is, and the faith, and patience in took in the story of Jericho, and Boom, because BOOM he just leapt in my heart with no permission. This can always be shortened, unless he ends up in a Catholic family! LOL! For now, he's Smitty, or Tenison. Because I already own my '4-pack' of animals, and cannot afford to keep another, I need to place him. If you've ever owned a Terrier, or Lab, and/or would love to have the potential of a wonderful pet, who will have the same sweet Bette Midler smiling contagious eyes, and speedy wags of a tail to greet you, when you greet the day, after a peaceful nights rest, and/or arrive home from a hard day of work,..... then please call me. I offer 3 free training sessions in the Lakewood area of Dallas, as my way of giving back to whom-ever adopts a dog. Meet Beau! Boxer mix, 1 yr old male, fully vetted, docked tail and someone cut off his ears totally but they did it as a tiny puppy and he is not affected by it at all. He is gentle, submissive, so happy that he has wiggly butt! He is playful and cuddly, does great with other dogs, fast learner and eager to please his humans... he is also crate trained. He escaped being euthanized 4 times in the shelter because no one would save him. His foster mom reports he is a fantastic dog. He is very petite, weighing in at on 33 lbs. 'Lucy' appeared in our garage about a week ago. She was wearing a collar and appears to recently had a litter of pups. We sadly suspect that she might have been dumped once her pups were weaned. We bathed her and brought her inside. She is house trained. She is a very gentle dog, sweet natured and very good with my 5 year old and 3 1/2 year old. My cats make her nervous, she whines at them, but does not bark at them or chase them. She has good protective instints- she barks only with discretion, at noises that unfamiliar. Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
