If you are looking for a Valentine, this girl captures it all. She is nothing but LOVE. Submissive, rolls over on her back, gentle, docile, does beautifully with other dogs, and is certain to win your heart. She was impounded at ACS with all her babies. Naturally all her puppies found immediate placement and poor old mom was left behind. When no one had room to help this gal, she ended up on death row. We couldn't let that happen as many of us at SNIPSA are moms ourselves! Even with tight foster space, we managed to take her in. She blends right in and good not be a more perfect little angel. So if you can forgo chocolates, flowers, and a ... (Read More)romantic night out- consider adding Miss Cleopatra as your Valentine! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-09-00189Orlando (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Orlando here... so nice to meet you. Me and my sisters Toni and Dawn had a home but our owners 'surrendered' us to the shelter because we got some 'bugs' on us! We were only about 8 weeks old and we were very run down and sick'|had no hair, only scabs all over. A nice foster family rescued us and took good care of our ailments. Now look at us'| healthy and plump! You might guess I am the 'alpha' in the group. But I am very well behaved and I look out for my sisters. I love to play in the back yard with toys and find interesting tidbits to chew on. I sleep all night without crying in a my pen in the breakfast room . I am learning real ... (Read More)manners, how to sit for treats and how to come when my name is called. I get along very well with my older foster siblings (old cat included) and of course my sisters. I will miss them if I get a furever home and have to leave them, but I will love my new family just as much! Breed: Boxer mix Age: 3 months Weight: 13 pounds PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. ADOPTION FEE: $200 (includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary) ADOPTION CENTER: 5533 Weslayan St. in the Weslayan Plaza Shopping Center Houston, TX 77005 HOURS: Saturdays 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays 11 AM - 3:30 PM NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian.     This sweet Boxer mix is a medium size dog that is going to probably be on the small end of medium. She was a little overwhelmed in the dog shelter kennel but when we took her out to take her picture she warmed right up to us. We are a small newly organized group to help our small town shelter find homes for dogs outside of our community. The shelter only has 7 cages and when it is full the dogs are at risk to be euthanized. It is not a no kill shelter. If we find a potential home we will take the dog out and foster it and help arrange transport to your home. This is a very sweet dog and will make some one a wonderful pet. I will email or ... Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Hello! WB here. Wow! I've been a busy bee the last couple of days. So many new things to see and do where do I begin to tell you about me? I'm 9 months old right now. I'm a very active pup. I love to play. Non stop. All the time. I play with my foster brothers. When they get tired I play with the toys by myself. I really, really need a play mate in my life so I want a home with another dog to play with. That's good right!? I've had a lot of training on leash walking and do well at it. I may pull a little when I see another dog but that is because I'm sure they want to meet me. After all, I am pretty spectacular. I'm still very ... (Read More)young so I need reminders occasionally to not pull. I do well in the house except for a few things. I'm very interested in what's on those counters. I get up and look as often I can. I don't think I'm supposed to so I am going to try my best to stop that. I also am too enthusiastic about getting to the kids in the house. I need to learn to keep my paws on the ground for the younger ones because they topple over fairly easy. For this reason I need a forever home with older kids. I'm not mean any way just too much for young guys. I've only just come to Legacy so I'm not able to meet until they have a chance to know me better. Check with them soon though and maybe we can meet! Foster mom says I'm quite a catch and some lucky family is going to be very blessed to have me.     'Hi I'm Kryten! I'm new to this rescue world but momma said by the looks of it I was long over due. I am perfect in my crate, no escapes(I have it too good here) no potty accidents and so far I've met my 4 legged foster sister and we played like there was no tomorrow. Now I look forward to tomorrows, weeks and months ahead, I have been rescued.. I have a ways to go before I'm adopted, I have to have a neuter (sounds fun) and HWT so at the very earliest would be about a month before I go into HWT.     I am a sweet boy. I lived at a plant since I was a puppy. I am 4 years old. I was taken very good care of by the workers my best friend was a lady in the office. Some one got mean and took me for a car ride and dumped me far away from my safe place around Thanksgiving. I was attacked many times by other dogs and hurt by mean people on the streets. I was lost for many weeks and I had many bad wounds. I was very afraid of people and other dogs. I was eating garbage from dumpsters when a friend from my old home saw me. They took me back to my special lady at the plant. She took me home with her and helped me feel better. She had already rescued ... (Read More)3 more dogs and 10 new puppies. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

We would like to introduce Mr. Romeo. He is a pup that was born on 3-3-14. His Mom gave birth to 12 puppies at the Dallas Animal Shelter. We were successful in finding wonderful homes for his mother, Molly and all of the pups. Molly was a St. Bernard/Austrialian Shepherd mix. We did not know what breed of dog the father or fathers of these pups were. Mr. Romeo was adopted and received lots of love and attention since he was born. Due to a lifestyle change Romeo was recently returned to us, not due to any fault of his own. He is a fabulous, well behaved, fun loving boy. He gets along with all dogs, is housetrained, neutered, current ... (Read More)on vaccinations, heartworm negative and just a joy to be around. He will bring lots of love and attention to any family. Romeo weighs approximately 60 pounds and is full grown. We believe he is a mix of a boxer and a St. Bernard. You do not really see any St. Bernard in him by looking at him, however, since we know his mother we know there is Saint in his genes. In looking at Romeo now, I believe there is a breed similar to a Brittany Spaniel based on his current looks. He has the most beautiful beige and white markings and has a coat that is easy to keep clean. You don't have to worry about dematting or knots with his short beautiful coat. If you are wanting a fabulous new pet to add to your family please consider meeting Romeo. In concern for families with small children, we will not adopt a dog to a home with any child under the age of 5. If you would like to visit Romeo, please contact St. Cloud's Rescue at www.stcloudsrescue.org or call 972-679-5319. The first step in adopting from St. Cloud's Rescue is to complete an application. The application may be found OUR WEBSITE (not petfinder.com) at www.stcloudsrescue.org. Please click on the application process, complete and then email it or fax it to us at 1-469-952-3331. Once the application has been sent please call us to confirm that we have received it. St.Cloud's Rescue maintains the right to deny applications to anyone for any reason we see fit. St. Cloud Rescue is a non-profit 501-c-3 organization. St. Clouds Rescue requires new owners to purchase a one year supply of heartworm preventative from us, which is at cost. We require a home visit prior to all placements. We require a home visit prior to all placements. All our dogs must be microchipped at a cost of $20.00. There is a $100.00 donation fee. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hey Y'all! My name is Scotty and I'm a GORGEOUS white puppy with a mask - or they call me 'Check'. I'm as sweet and soft as they come. I'm coughing in the morning and some at night so almost over kennel cough. My foster mom gives my medicine in peanut butter - YUM! I was at the shelter with all kinds of nasty fleas that the Legacy Boxer people helped me get rid of, so I'm not so itchy. I'm pretty happy go lucky and not terribly jumpy for a puppy but I can definitely get the 'zoomies' and I'm just beginning to learn stuff. I love lots of toys and balls!!! I'm learning sit and doing really well with housebreaking, but I haven't ... (Read More)learned the doggy door yet. My foster mom says I'm extremely smart, and she is right! I'd love to have a skin kid of my own or 2 or 3 even, and I absolutely need a fur brother or sister if they are nice that is. I've gotten to where I don't feel scared all the time and really need VERY NICE PEOPLE to live with. Because I still have to go see the vet and get basic vetting done, I won't be able to meet anyone until the kennel cough is gone, and I've got to get shots - YIKES and they said I need to be neubered or something'|.not sure what that is but maybe that means I'm going to get lots of loving at the vet! If you want to meet me, you have to understand I'm only 1 and just beginning to learn stuff so have some patience, will ya - geez! If you are VERY NICE PEOPLE, with NICE KIDS would be nice, and NICE DOGS, it would be very nice to meet you! Rescue Me ID: 16-01-20-00014Grace (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Grace is a sweet young female German Shepherd Mix. She came to us as a stray, we tried our hardest to find her previous owners but she had no collar, no microchip, and no one responded to our found ads. We got her vetted; she is on heartworm prevention, flea prevention and was just spayed (all funded by us). She has a clean bill of health minus a previously broken tail, but it does not seem to bother her! Grace has had to learn a lot the past few months with our family. She was very fearful of other dogs, probably because of her stray background. She has gotten much better by being with our dogs! We have also taken her to public dog parks ... (Read More)with no issues. She loves playing with toys, loves attention, and is a fast learner. She does not do well with cats, she would prefer to be in a home where she could have all the attention and toys to herself, and we are unsure about small children. She is full of energy and if she were to be with another dog it would be best for that dog to be high strung too, or else she will keep bugging your dog to play and if they don't like to play all the time, they may get annoyed. She is still working on manners such as taking food 'gently' and hoarding toys, and eating slowly. She uses a special food dish to help her slow down and it has worked wonders! Grace has come a long way and will make someone a great family dog! She is crate trained, house trained, and loves being outside! While we would love to keep her, we want to keep room in our house to help other dogs like Grace who need a foster and a new home! We want her to have the best fur-ever family, and we know they are out there! (Less)

'Whoever said you can't teach old dogs new tricks hasn't met me! Hi! I'm Eevee and don't let my silver muzzle fool you, I still have a lot of boxer spunk left in me. While I may not play as long or as hard as my younger foster siblings, I still love to go for walks and am considered an expert wiggler. My favorite thing to do is to love on my humans, and simply keep them company. I'm learning commands really fast, I already know sit, shake, and kennel. (Read More)24-7. I am food and treat orientated when I am feeling my best. Right now I am under weight but my foster parents are giving me goats milk which is high in fat content and hope to change that. I am still getting back to my basics since I was found on the streets and lost count of how many days I was lost for. Even though I currently have three fur-brothers, sometimes I pick fights for no reason, I might be best as a only dog. I usually go all day with no issues but at night I wish to be left alone to snuggle with my foster parents. I am a very curious of my surroundings and they might not say it but I know I'm the smartest dog in the house. Unfortunately, I currently have a UTI but I am on medication, so I won't be ready for adoption until mid-February at the earliest. Boxer Mix

Health: Intact (Needs to be Fixed), Malnourished, Abused/Neglected

I found an adult female Pit Bull, maybe 3-5 years old, with her two puppies, one male and one female that seem to be a half mix of another breed, possibly Boxer or Labrador, on my walk last night in the Balcones Country Club subdivision. All three were dirty and malnourished. Look to have been living in a feral manner for some time. They've been cleaned up and evaluated by a veterinarian. However, no immediate medical attention is required. No collars, microchips or other identifying devices. I'm personally already involved with small dogs rescue, Pugs and JRTs, and bottle feeding kittens for Austin Pets Alive! Unfortunately, I don't ... Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi world, my name is Cheri! I am 1 year old, and I am looking for my furever home! My favorite things are cuddling with my foster mom, going to the park, and playing with my foster brother (French Mastiff) and sister (German Short-Haired Pointer). I am a boxer-pitbull mix, but I have a heart sweeter than any dog you have ever met! My foster mom found me running through 6 lanes of traffic, she caught me by getting me into a neighborhood and feeding me meatballs she got by knocking on a door. Back in November, when I was rescued, I needed lots of veterinary care but luckily I got all that, and some good TLC! I am really smart, I like learning ... (Read More)new tricks, and treats are really important to me. I am house trained and crate trained, and I know sit and stay. I am working on leash training and heeling at the park. My foster mom thinks I'd be great as a running buddy for someone since I run with her at the park sometimes. I went with my foster mom and siblings pet-sitting, and I loved meeting the kitty cats, horses, and other dogs, so you can be rest assured I am good with other animals! I am really submissive, so sometimes I am a little shy around new people, places or animals, but once I warm up I am the life of the party! I was definitely abused and neglected there is a big scar on my back to show for it my foster mom wants someone that will be extra kind and gentle with me and love me as much as they would their own child. I am scheduled to be spayed next week. I have all my shots, including bordatella and lepto. There is a small adoption fee, call or email my foster mom to hear more about becoming my furever home! Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Hi, my name is Dom. Thank you for stopping by my page. I'm a 4.5 year old, fawn boxer, and I weigh about 55lbs. I was saved by Legacy Boxer Rescue after the family that saved me from an unsafe situation found out they were moving to Hawaii, and they decided it would be best for me to find a furever home. Because of my history, I get scared of new things. In the short time I've been in my foster home, I have grown a lot in that regard, but I still get scared and shake. I'm great with dogs of all sizes. My foster home has a big boxer and sometimes watches a chihuahua, and I like both of them, especially the chihuahua :-). I've seen ... (Read More)the cats a few times, but wasn't too sure what they were and just stared at them. There are 4 kids that I live with and I love them too. They can get a little loud at times, so I just keep to myself. I LOVE to cuddle. I am crate trained, but I don't prefer it. I lived in a crate for the first 4 years of my life, so I get scared when I get put in one. I'm not sure if I'll get to come back out. I am working on not going potty in the house. My foster home has a dog door and I've figured out how to come inside, but am afraid to go outside on my own. When I need to go outside, I sit by the door and wait til they let me out. I'm still learning how to be a dog. I don't really play with toys, but I love to chew on rawhides. I'm looking for a furever home where I can just be me. I want to cuddle and play and enjoy my life. I think I would do best with a friend, but I might also like being an only dog. That way I get ALL of the attention.'     Hi! My name is Ami, and I hope you're looking at me because you want to adopt me! I do my best to give as much love and affection as I can. I'm a big boy so I have a lot to give! My foster mom says I'm up to 86 pounds! I may be big, but I'm very well behaved. I don't like to jump on people because I know with my size I could scare them, but they're more than welcome to give ME hugs if they would like! Do you like movies? I don't really know what they are, but that's what my foster mom says we're watching when we curl up on the couch together. I love to keep my person warm so I hope you don't mind. We can watch as many movies as you'd like as ... (Read More)long as I get to be the one to keep you warm! I have 3 foster siblings that I love. We're all a good mix because they're crazy and love to jump and I'm very mellow and calm and patient so we are a good balance. I would prefer having a sibling though that's either a tiny person or even a fur-brother or sister that is calm like me or at least doesn't jump on me. I don't particularly like that, but I'm a gentleman and won't bite or growl, but I will walk away. I hope that my fur-ever family finds me soon. I'm so excited to find the people I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with! If you like me or think I'm perfect then please give me a call! I'll be waiting as still as I can, but when the phone rings I don't know if I'll be able to contain my wiggles so my foster mom may have to answer, but I'll be there the whole time! Adoption fee of $75 thru Trinity GAP Rescue to cover upcoming neutering! Contact Trinity GAP Rescue if you'd like to foster Buddy: trinitygapclub@gmail.com Foster application on GAP website at: http://trinitygaprescue.org/ Buddy is about 2 years old, vaccinated, housetrained but not yet neutered since the vet wants to wait until he's stronger after undergoing his recent heartworm treatment. From Gena: I was referred to you by a mutual in hopes you can help me find Buddy a home. I do not want to take him to the Euless Shelter after all he's been through. He is the sweetest guy in the world, and had a hard road. . I think he is a mix of boxer and American Bulldog, vet thinks maybe American Bulldog but she even says he is a sweet boy. The vet thought he was around two years old. I found Buddy running in the street in Euless and I couldn't leave him (or take him to the shelter, I did not want him put down) and no one called the shelter to claim him. Some of the kids in the neighborhood where I found him said they had seen him running several times before but did not know who he belonged to I'm surprised he had not been hit. I took him to TCAP for shots (no chip) and they advised me he had heartworms. That then started a long road to recovery. Dr. Lattimer in Mansfield treated Buddy for his heartworms (stage three) at a reduced fee and assistance from many donations. She was really 'happily' surprised he tolerated the treatment so well because he was really ill. He has been on lots of medication and is now finishing his treatment (last injection was 12-1-15) and is due for his checkup w/the vet tomorrow. The heartworm treatment was hard and he had to be kept so calm to prevent him from having a heart attack/ embolism that he has stayed secluded in my room since September. He was placed on doxycycline, steroids, Benadryl, and Heart Guard. He then started his injections the first of November, then again the 1st of December. He has not been neutered and the vet stated he would have to wait at least two months to have it done so his heart and lungs have time to heal. I have three other dogs and one cat all rescues adopted over the years and I live in a small house. I am unable to keep him which is so, so breaking my heart. I keep the dogs separated and I can't give them all the love/time they deserve. He has already stolen my heart and I cry just thinking about him leaving he is such a gentle pup (he responds to commands and is house broken) . My husband says it's time, we can't keep him I just CAN'T let him go to the shelter. Can you help? He deserves a good home! Thank you very, very much for your help!!! (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This sweet& courageous boy is JoJo...he is not ready yet for a forever home, but we are posting him to get some interest from a disabled veterans organization-so please share- as we want to pay it forward, and provide him as a therapy dog to someone that needs the type of encouragement that this dog can give. This is the home we are actively seeking for him and will do everything possible to make this happen, for a deserving soldier of our country. JoJo's story, as much as we know it, is this. We rescued him from a high kill shelter in Texas. He had been hit by a car, and needed rescue interest, to give him the help and medical he so ... (Read More)desperately needed. We have had him xrayed, and evaluated, by the best in the business, and his injuries are extensive. His front legs are being rebuilt to withstand weight and mobility. We are waiting until he is a bit stronger to go through this long and extensive process, so his surgery will be done, sometime late January or early February. In the meantime, a wheelchair has been custom built for him, and he is quickly adapting to this device. He will not need it after surgery. JoJo is about 5 years old. Current on all vaccines and neutered. He has the most courageous heart, adores everyone, and is house trained and crate trained. He'll be adopted, free of charge, when we find that worthy person we're looking for, to give him the home he'll thrive in-and also help. He is currently in Texas, but we will handle all transport requirements and whatever else is needed, to place him with the home we are seeking for him. (Less)

Arliss is living large and ready for adoption! Such a sweet boy. He is extremely gentle, very cuddly, and is one of the most low maintenance dogs I've ever had the pleasure to know. He was my absolute favorite at the shelter and I just knew I had to foster him. He knows 'sit' and 'lay' on verbal and hand cues, rides fantastic in the car, and loves people.

AJ will be celebrating his 3rd year of life Christmas week of 2015! He has been searching for his forever home since February 2015, but no one has come forward to claim him as their faithful companion. AJ has been raised around cats, he LOVES dog parks--especially if there is water to swim. AJ is an active dog, but also knows when to calm down. AJ is approximately 45 pounds, neutered, UTD on vaccines, crate trained, potty trained, and is a very sweet gentleman. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lexi is a very sweet dog. She loves to snuggle and give kisses. She loves to play tug of war and fetch. Fetch can sometimes turn into a game of keep away (from you). :) She does show aggression around most other dogs. In particularly, she does not like small dogs. However, I do have a friend that has a dog that she plays with. He is submissive to her and allows her to be the dominant one. So, it is possible for her to get along with another dog, it just has to be the 'right' dog. I do have a cat that she would love to play with, but the cat wants nothing to do with her. Lexi is a little relentless in trying to get the cat to play with her. ... (Read More)I think if the cat had her claws, Lexi would probably leave her alone. She has never tried to hurt the cat, only play with her. I got Lexi when we were living in a large 2 story house with a backyard. We have since had to move back into an apartment. I think the small living space and no yard is wearing on her high energy personality. I also believe this is where her aggression is coming from as she has no outlet for all her energy. Things are rough and I am looking for a 2nd job, so I do not have the time or money to spend on any training. I want Lexi to be able to have the life she deserves. I want her to have a home where she is loved and has room to run and play. If you think you can help, please let me know. Lexi is current on shots, spayed and micro-chipped. She is house and kennel trained. Her kennel, etc would be sent with her as well. (Less)

Curly is a Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier mix that came to HTS from a military kill shelter. His owners chose not to claim him more than likely because of breed restrictions in military housing. Upon intake Curly tested positive for heartworms and was found to be neutered. After being pulled by HTS Curly was completely vetted and began his heartworm treatments. In May of 2015, 8 months after his final treatment he tested negative for heartworms and became available for adoption. He is currently on heartworm preventative (Trifexis). Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Update from foster mom: Pedey is a loving energetic dog. Pedey was found abandoned on the streets of Euless and was physically fragile from lack of food. At first he was aggressive during feeding time and consumed his food like it was his last meal - he still enjoys dinner time but without the aggression - he will wait in line for his treats and is patient if the other dogs take longer to finish eating. I have a variety of dogs and Pedey gets along with all of them - not sure about cats. He does amazing at the dog park and rides well in the car. He is very playful so if you have other dogs he will want to play - he is house trained and ... (Read More)has basic dog manners - he does talk back if he thinks you are ignoring him. He is fully vetted and ready for his new family. I have a 9-year-old daughter and Pedey is good around her and her friends. He is Heartworm and fecal negative and is neutered and vaccinated! Contact foster mom Kim at dparker361@gmail.com for more information Pedey 16228 - Pedey is a young and gorgeous American Bulldog/Boxer mix who we think may have suffered some abuse. He was very fearful at first of the camera, but with some treats and TLC, he warmed up quickly. He was very good while getting his vaccinations, and showed no aggression toward the other dogs. He does not like to share his food, and we know why. This poor baby was starving when he came into the shelter, and food to him is something very special. He is very food motivated, and this will greatly help with his training! It is sad that such a young and beautiful dog has already been through so much in his short life, but we are hoping a loving family will change that for him. If you want to make a big difference in the life of a special dog, then Pedey is the one for you. With a little training and TLC, he will make a wonderful running or walking lifetime companion! Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bradley aka Buddy #16226 - Buddy was brought into the shelter by a family who said he came to them as a stray in August. They said he's been jumping the fence and they can no longer keep him. They never found his owners so they just took him in. They say he is a great dog and they were so sad to leave him, but they just can't keep him in their yard so it's not a good situation. The family said they thought he was an American Bulldog mix but I think he looks like a Catahoula Bulldog Mix. He has the most beautiful coat and one of those big heads you just want to cradle-he gets that worried little furrowed brow that is heartbreaking!! ... (Read More)He knows how to sit, shake hands and give high 5's! He seems very sweet and let us rub all over him. Looking at his teeth he appears to be about a year old--probably weighs about 55 lbs or more. He did not want to go into the kennel but never growled or acted out-just tried to pull away--once in, he was very quiet and didn't bark at all. The family called him Buddy but we think he looks more like a Bradley don't you? The family said he is completely housetrained. They have 2 teenage sons and they said he is great with them and their friends-he has never shown aggression to humans or to other dogs. They don't have cats. He really seems like a sweetheart and it was-pretty heartbreaking for all concerned to leave him at the shelter. Bradley is only about a year old, neutered and vaccinated but is sadly heartworm positive. He is a low positive so just needs to be kept on a monthly heartworm preventative tab and be retested in 8 months (I think.) Should he test positive at that point, GAP will work with his new family and do whatever needs to be done. He's a great dog and deserves a great family! Update: Previous foster mom said Bradley was a bit too curious about her cat so needed to be in a no cat home. However, while he was in a transitional home to his new foster home, he had no reaction to the resident cats....so, it can depend on the situation. We always advise caution when introducing new pets, dogs or cats, into your home. Based on this we don't want to absolutely say Bradley needs to be in a no cat home, but we advise caution if you do have a cat. If you need help with introductions, let us know!! Rebel arrived as a wild child, pretty much untamed. She didn't appear to have much socialization with people or dogs. Like any youngster, canine or human, if never taught anything they don't know what is expected of them. Rebel has made huge progress; she is housebroken, crate trained and is learning commands. She is very smart and will continue to learn whatever she is taught. She did not know how to act around other dogs%BD'%BD|she will show aggression but more as a 'fear' reaction. Therefore, she must be slowly introduced to new dogs. Rebel has now become best pals with her foster brother (85 lb Rottweiler). Animal ID: 15172Mamie (female)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Meet Miss Mamie! Mamie lived with a family and another boxer for years, but when they moved out of state, they took the other boxer and left her behind. Her whole world had been turned upside down, and when she got to her foster momma's house, she was too scared to get out of the car. She sat parked in the driveway, in the backseat of the car for an hour and half! As scared and sad as she was, though, Mamie is an experienced older lady who knows her way around a house and a family. Experience matters! Mamie has NEVER had a potty accident in the house. She uses her inside voice and almost never barks. She is ladylike on her walks, staying ... (Read More)right beside you without pulling on her leash. Mamie is comfortable in her crate for hours at a time and goes in easily. In fact, in only a few weeks' time, Mamie has learned her foster momma's routine and will put herself in the crate when she knows its time. But that's what Mamie can do. Who Mamie is, is a sweet, calm girl who wants most of all to sit next to you on the couch and sleep with you on your bed. Her favorite spot is by your feet or curled up under your knees, propping your legs up. If you let her enjoy some couch time with you, don't be surprised if you get a gentle paw tap encouraging you to put away your phone or tablet and scratch her. Mamie is not interested too much in boxer burns, but she will do an adorable little jumping frolic when she trots out to the backyard. She dreams and will run and bark in her sleep. She truly is a joy to have around the house. Mamie has glaucoma, and will have surgery in late December to remove her left eye. You don't need two eyes to snuggle, so she won't even miss it. She will be available for adoption after she is all healed up from that. If you are interested in snapping us this sweet girl, please contact your Adoption Counselor to set up a Meet & Greet. We cannot keep them and have three of our own dogs and two others about a year old we are also trying to find home for that were dropped off last March.     Hi! I'm Jewels. I love to go for walks and play fetch. I also love to hang out with my best friend, Binks. He's my foster brother, and he keeps me in line. Some days we just hang out in the yard chasing squirrels, and some days we go for long walks in the park or in the neighborhood. I think I'd like a home with a brother or sister best, though my foster mom says that I'm too rambunctious for little kids. And she says she thinks it's okay if my new home has cats so long as I've got a good example about not chasing them. My foster mom says I'm pretty smart and that I learn fast. She also likes to call me a Snuffleluffagus because I ... (Read More)do like to give kisses. (Hey, it's what I do.) So if you're looking for a great good friend, I'd love to get out of boarding and be it! I really would love to be your running or walking buddy. I'm strong so I get to use a no-pull harness that way we both get to enjoy the experience. I also like going for car rides. Tricks: Can roll over, sit, lay, stay in one place on command, retrieve things, pull your socks off on command, and pull your jacket/sweater off on command. As I said before I weigh 37 lbs. but could add a pound or two. I have stayed in the house and never have had an accident. I roam the house during the ... (Read More)day and night with no problems and I don't chew on anything. I get to sleep in the bedroom at night and like to snuggle if you will let me. I'm not much into playing with toys as I prefer to cuddle and play with my family. When I do play I usually just pick up the soft furry toys and walk with them. I did surprise my foster dad when he was training my fur brother. When he was giving commands to my fur brother I was behind my foster dad, on the other side of a doggie gate, also doing the commands, but he couldn't see until he turned around one time and caught me. I then showed him I could sit and lie down and even roll over on my back on command. Sometimes though I think they are all one command which means roll over on your back, I do like my belly rubbed. Since I am always anxious to spend time with my foster family and love it when they talk and play with me I look forward to future training sessions. I have had two lumps removed and still have to have one more removed. I am also Heartworm positive and will start treatment in the near future. I love it here with my foster family but will be looking soon for someone to love and further train me. If you're that special family give me a call and I'll come for a visit after my Heartworm treatment.     Hello there, my name is Penelope! I sometimes go by Penny. I'm kind of fond of that. I feel like I'm one lucky Penny!! I had to be taken to the shelter because my senior owner and I had grown old together and he could no longer care for me. I am really wishing for my forever home. I think I would like to be in a home with kiddos 10 and older. I am an older lady and I am at an age where I want to eat my food and enjoy my chew bones in peace. I also think I would like to be the only dog in the house. Boisterous dogs can get on my nerves and I can get grumpy when telling them to calm down. I love, love, love people!! I got to go to Barnes ... (Read More)and Noble for wrapping presents and it was one of my happiest days! I adored all the attention!! I am so excited to see my foster people when they come home. I buck, spin and cha-cha my feet so they know how happy I have to see them! Like many of us who live in this area, I have allergies. It's easy to manage though. I gobble up my allergy pill when it is tossed in with my morning and evening soup (kibble with water in it). I also take a joint supplement so I can still have fun feel like playing. I like hanging out with people. I prefer to be where you are and like sitting with my back up against your leg. Even though I am an older lady and my face looks like it's been dusted with powdered sugar, I still get the zoomies and love it when you play with me. I love playing with toys too. I like to set them up on the coffee table and couch, pretend I can't see it, then grab them quickly and give them a shake. Going on walks makes me very happy. When I see the leash, I smile and get wiggly with excitement. This little sugar-dusted face lady would love to meet you and be your girl. Please ask to meet me, Penelope. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'My name is Roxie, because, well I'm a boxer. I'm currently in the market for a new forever home. I grew up with a family for a long time, but their lifestyle had changed and they asked Legacy Boxer Rescue find a new family for me. A family that wanted to spend time with me and spoil me properly. Fortunately LBR has stepped up to do just that. I have been told that I am beautiful and sweet, so there is someone out there who wants to be my forever family and I am so excited to meet my new people. I'm an active girl. I love to walk and jog with my owner or just play in the back yard. I look and act like a much younger dog. Some might ... (Read More)consider it rude to ask a girl's age, but I'll tell you. I'm seven. Can you believe it? I am old enough to know my manners, and I'm a fully active play mate and team member. I'm game for whatever you're game for. I know voice and hand commands, even though I'm not deaf. I know how to ring bells to go outside. I can even kayak if you're willing to row. I will be honest and admit that I miss the love and individual attention from having my own personal family. I'm a people-dog. There's nothing I love more than being with my people, hearing their voices, and feeling their warm touch. I adore kind words and gentle petting and return that love with all I have. I'm looking for a home where I can be an only dog. My ideal new home would have a soft bed for me and good food. Most importantly my new people should have kind words and loving hands to pet me. I know I'm asking a lot, but I'm worth it. In return for all of that, I'll repay you with my boundless love, unending loyalty, and complete devotion. I can't wait to meet my new family! We will be perfect!     For adoption information, please contact Krystle Perry, C: 903/216-1796, Big Sandy, TX, kperry7714@gmail.com. This is a courtesy posting, posted 1/13/15, and picture was taken on 2/9/15. Ruby was found on December 12, 2014, severely injured and neglected. She is a young Boxer mix, estimated to be around 2 yrs old when posted on 1/13/15. Ruby has gained weight, and weighs a healthy 55lbs now. She is now house and crate trained, and we recommend to keep her in a crate when left alone. She will need a secure fenced yard. She plays fine with bigger dogs, but we don't recommend her to be with any small pets, and recommend a family with ... (Read More)older children. She loves sleeping on the sofa and chairs, and will climb in bed with you if you let her. Ruby needs a firm, consistent owner who is settled in life, without many changes coming soon. She is a very loyal, loving dog, playful, and loves to be loved on. Ruby hasn't barked once, but she does snore... loudly. I will need proof of pet deposits paid and landlord verification, or proof of home ownership. I will need to be sure there are no breed restrictions for potential adopters, will require personal and vet references, and a home visit before letting anyone take Ruby home. This dog has been through a lot, and I want her to go to the best home possible. We would like to get updates on occasion from the family that adopts her, throughout the course of Ruby's life.     'I am Mycroft, a distinguished looking gentleman with super soft fur and subtle silvering around my muzzle.I like going on walks a lot! I do really well using a gentle leader to help me remember to walk at the speed you wish to go. It also helps me remember not to go running after squirrels. Sometimes when I'm on my walk, I forget to greet other dogs without using foul language. I am getting better though. When I am at home in my own space, I look through the fence at dogs going by *quietly* (I know, pretty amazing). My foster sister has taught me how to play. I am an expert at play bows, Boxer jabs and mouth jousting (kind of like thumb ... (Read More)wars, but with our mouths). Even though my foster sister has convinced me to play, I'm not so sure I would like dog parks very much. I DO like going on walks, getting ear scratches, lounging on the couch, chewing on rawhides and hanging out with people. Do not let my distinguishing gray fur fool you! I have tons of energy!! You should see my moves. My foster mom says I'm 'springy.' I am quite agile and might like to try agility classes some day. I like to meet new people and sometimes forget to keep all four feet on the floor. I don't usually jump onto people; I just raise up to see them better. I am eager to please and have very expressive, soulful eyes. I'm smart too! I learn new things quickly and I'm very good at paying attention-just tell me what you want me to do. You can trust me to sleep out of my crate at night. I find one spot (my favorite is the bed), settle in, and sleep through the night. I can't wait to find my own family. I've got a lot of love to share with you. All you have to do is say you'd like to meet me!!' Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, I'm Butterfly. I'm a beautiful dark brindle mature petite Boxer lady. I may only have the short fragile life of a butterfly left. Unfortunately, I have soft tissue sarcoma, a type of cancer that is destined to return. I was rescued from the shelter with a Nerf football size sarcoma on my front leg that was so large that the wound from removal was impossible to close. The best way to treat this type of cancer is to amputate my leg; however, my back legs are not strong enough for that and I have heart worms so that is not a possibilty. Being a mature dog and still in recovery, I'm not as strong as I once was but I can still manage to ... (Read More)walk about a mile if we go slowly and I get a few rest breaks. I would much rather be around people than other dogs since I don't like to play much anymore. I would love more than anything to meet you. You will know how happy I am because my nubby tail will be a blur and I will stand as long as you are there. I so adore meeting new people. I'm not sure I will be able to find my fur-ever home, but don't feel sorry for me. I have the best foster home and I'm making the most of the time I have left! I really enjoy sunning myself and rolling in the grass, and of course meeting new people! Please think of me fondly the next time you see a butterfly flit by. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-19-00253Derringer (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Derringer came from a person who had too many dogs because people kept dumping them near his house. Derringer is extremely loving & sweet & he has the most beautiful eyes. He is a medium sized dog, around 43 pounds and 2 years of age. Derringer has been DNA tested and he is a American Staffordshire terrier/ Labrador Retriever/ Boxer/ St. Bernard mix. Derringer is HIGH ENERGY. He likes to play with other dogs but gets too worked up sometimes (especially around lawnmowers for some reason). He will also tug on your clothes to get your attention. Derringer needs training. We think he would make an excellent working dog. Derringer must ... (Read More)have a home where he is allowed inside as a loved member of the family. He must also have a secure secure fenced yard where he can run and play. It might be best if he is the only dog. We don't know how he would do with cats. Derringer is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Derringer has tested positive for heartworms and has completed two rounds of the "slow kill" method. He should now be heartworm free.     I have been with my foster family almost a year. My mom thinks I am pretty young'|probably between 1.5-2 years now. I am a total love bug and super sweet. I have been great with the kids in my house. Their ages are 3, 6, & 9. I still sometimes bump them or play bow and bark when I want to play. Did I mention I LOVE LOVE LOVE to play? I love boxing and mouthing around with other boxers. I have been great with the dogs I have met or lived with. My foster mom tries to keep me socialized by doing play dates with other fosters and friends. I just chill with Charlie, a 10 year old Jack Russell and sometimes I can get him to chase me around the ... (Read More)back yard. I am have gained some weight since I have been here now that I am safe and have a place to rest, eat, and be loved. I am a good healthy weight now at about 60 lbs. I have a good appetite since I play so much and am young. I had a bump removed on my head that was a benign cyst. They aren't too worried about it but removed it so I didn't bump it or so it didn't get bigger. I am even more handsome now believe it or not. I had pretty itchy skin too when I came into my foster home. Doctors said I had a secondary skin infection and some mites I needed to get rid of in my ears and on my skin. I was able to get rid of those nasty bugs. I was diagnosed with Cushing's disease in the spring. Though I have responded well to my meds, the doctors are going to make sure they get me all taken care of before I am adopted. My mom says I am house trained. I do pretty well in a crate too. Sometimes I will cry in it if I can't see you or need to go outside but I settle down fairly quickly. My mom worries about apartments for me since I have a lot of energy and can sometimes be unhappy in my crate. Right now I spend a couple of hours a day in the crate while my mom takes and picks up my skin siblings from school. I get to run around the house during the day while she is at home and she lets me out when I stand by the door. I love doing zoomies in the backyard and showing my family how fast I am. I love jumping on my mom's bed when she isn't looking and often hide toys there. I often entertain myself with toys but still have a lot of energy that I burn by going on walks or racing around outside. I am happy sleeping and snuggling too since playing is so hard. I am a super silly guy. My mom loves me and pretty much anyone who meets me thinks I am great. It might be a couple of months before I am ready to be adopted. Check out all by foster friends who are looking for a home too. Updated 12/14/15 ' See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2863 (Less)

'If you've been searching for the most handsome boxer at LBR, your search is over! I've been with my foster mom for about a year now. I bet your wondering how a hunk like me ends up being in foster care that long, aren't you? I haven't shared all the secrets of my past, but I am scared of new people that I meet. I don't want them to know I'm scared so instead I act all big and bad to show them I'm the scary one. So far it hasn't worked yet! LOL Foster mom has been taking me to see a special kind of veterinarian called a behaviorist. We work on all kinds of training, which is awesome because I get to have yummy treats every day. ... (Read More)Foster mom tells me I'm a very smart boy. She's taken other dogs to the behaviorist and she says I've caught on quicker than the others did. What can I say? I love to please my people! (br)(br) Here at my foster home there are 5 other dogs and I love them all. My foster siblings are a very laid back bunch so I respect their space and play on my own or with foster mom. I LOVE, love, love (did I mention love???) any toy that squeaks. My favorites are the big Kong balls. You should try one out! My favorite thing to do is be chased, whether it's a doggie friend or foster mom. Being chased is so much fun! It's even better if I have a toy in my mouth! (br)(br) Foster mom said I'm one of the best behaved fosters she's had. I like routines a lot and I'm good at sticking to them. I know when it's time to get up, eat breakfast, be silly, play (with a squeaky toy, of course!), chill, eat dinner, even going in my crate. I sometimes have to remind foster mom it's time to eat or get up. I'm sure she appreciates it! I know how to use a dog door and always do my business outside. I like to drag toys outside to play with and for some reason foster mom gets upset when I take 'indoor' toys outside because they get dirty. It's not like we don't have a washing machine! I think she's just silly. (br)(br) My behaviorist tells me I won't be ready to find my forever home for a few more months. I'm hoping by summer time I'll be ready to start looking. I know I want to have other dogs to play with in my forever home. I like dogs of all sizes and love to play with them. I need a house that doesn't have a lot of traffic in and out. Most importantly, my forever family needs to understand the importance of my training. I've worked really hard to get good at it and don't want to lose my mad skills. Foster mom says I'll always require some kind of training on a daily to weekly basis. I promise I'm totally worth the extra effort!! (br)(br) Foster mom here! Adonis has been with LBR for just over a year. In that time he has made a lot of progress with his training and is a well-adjusted member of my household. I am amazed at how smart this boy is. There is nothing he can't figure out! He has a way of knowing what I'm going to ask of him before I do sometimes. I absolutely LOVE having him here. When I say he's the best dog ever, I firmly mean it. I love this boy to bits. I will cry my eyes out when he finds his forever family, both because I will miss him and how proud I will be of him. He deserves his happily ever after so much more than I could ever tell you. ' See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2841 (Less)

Animal ID: 14734Mayflower (female)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This precious girl is skittish and **needs** a fur buddy in her new home. She is easily startled, very nervous outside of her regular routine...walking in a parking lot is ok, until you get to the sidewalk leading up to PetCo, at which time she will come to a complete stop, then back up. Mayflower came just before Thanksgiving 2014 after being on the streets of east Texas, very pregnant. She delivered 11 puppies 7 days later, so she has been through a lot. She was spayed 1/2015 and had heartworm treatment 3/3/15. She has had many changes since coming to us. She has shown that she does much better with another dog (she can be very ... (Read More)skittish), so she will be looking for a home with a fur buddy. Mayflower also loves to play, so her fur buddy must also be ready to play. May has learned to be kenneled and does well with her fur buddy kenneled beside her, but a home where this is not needed much is preferred. She has also done well when left at home with a fur buddy to roam rather than in kennel. A doggy door is a bonus for May, she loves going outside to play and check on those pesky squirrels. Because of her skittishness, May will do better with older kids. She is easily startled by loud unexpected noises. Her family needs to be sensitive to her fears and help her work through them. She will give you so much love and joy. ' See my bio here: http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=3101 (Less)

I also enjoy the peace of not sharing with another dog or cat. If you have a home with a great yard that I can run around and a nice bed when I am tired, I am your dog.
