The intake photos of this (likely) bait dog (too graphic to include here) show he couldn't have been a great competitor in the ring. Roman is about four years old, weighs a strong 45 pounds, and responds cheerfully to every human he's met since entering our program. He's up to date on all shots, neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on preventatives for parasites. Quite the food-motivated hound, Roman is attending obedience classes and is doing great with his sit, down and heel commands. 'Stay' is a tough assignment for such an exuberant dog; but he's getting there. His wag motor is always in high gear (watch that tail!), and he especially enjoys soft toys and an energetic game of tug. Most of the time Roman's happy with canine neighbors, but you can't blame him for an occasional tendency to be suspicious of their intentions.     Snoopy is a Boxer/Terrier mix, a little less than 2 years old, weighing about 35 pounds. He is a very affectionate boy, loves to give kisses and he wants to be with his people, not a runner. He is a little fearful, more so of men, than women, but with time, love, and a few hot dogs, he learns to trust. Snoopy is good with other dogs, a little nervous at first.     TEDDY is a sweet 4 year old Boxer/Bully mix male who was living life on a chain, neglected and abandoned. The rescue was contacted to help because Teddy was emaciated and in need of medical care and his owner was no longer there. He was rescued and has been off the chain and in a safe, loving foster home ever since. He was only 44 pounds when rescued but he has regained weight and has received the care and treatment needed to get back to being a healthy dog, ready to find a new home. He tested positive for heartworm but has completed the treatment needed to rid him of heartworms. He has been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. If ... Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hey! Ruger here! I am a handsome 11 month old boxer/staffie mix. I am only 45 lbs, so I'm the perfect size for cuddling. I enjoy long walks on the trail and couch time for the movie at the end of a good day. I am very people friendly. I will sit and wait for treats and I enter my crate on command. My crate is a great place for me to relax when you're not home. I enjoy my 'chews' and take a long nap. Then I'm ready for dinner and a nice walk or romp in the yard. I have gotten along great with dogs in the past, but once there was one who was trying to get more affection than me from my human on the couch while we were relaxing and I didn't ... (Read More)appreciate that. So, I made a mistake and got nasty with the other dog. Sometimes, dogs become possessive of their people when they live with other dogs. I don't mind other people coming around my humans, just other dogs when I'm trying to rest with them. I know it sounds bad, but I know a little training would help or I would have to be the only dog in the home. My adoption fee is $125.00. . I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, kept on heartworm preventative and microchipped. An application and home visit are required. A RARE representative (normally the President and/or foster parent(s) will bring the animal of interest to the home in order to ensure the right fit, perform meet & greet and answer any questions, go over vaccination and other vet paperwork etc.. An adoption trial may commence at that time, if RARE and potential adopter(s) are in agreement. Please complete the application on our website www.RuralAnimalRescueEffort.org and we will call you to explain the adoption process in more detail and answer any questions you may have. *If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 4 hours driving distance due to limited resources and difficulty ensuring the right match, especially if there are already animals in the home. **All of our pets are, or will be, spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccines and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Our adoption fees not only help the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heart-worm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need to be made available for adoption. Thank you for choosing to adopt, foster, or aid in the rescue efforts of RARE! *****AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT ARE REQUIRED***** Please visit www.RuralAnimalRescueEffort.org for foster and adoption applications or for additional information. Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Say hello to Sarge! Sarge is a Boxer mix who is approximately 7 years old (as of 3-28-17). He is heartworm positive, but is being treated. Sarge does well with other dogs, but needs a home without young children. He does not like to be grabbed by the collar. We aren't sure why, but this makes Sarge uncomfortable. Sarge is a really nice fella and would love to have a home and family of his very own. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Tennessee
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
