Animal ID: 15-02-28-00297Bella (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bella is a 2 year old American Stafford Terrier / Boxer / Afghan Hound mix (we've had her DNA tested) who weighs around 65 pounds. We adopted her from a shelter when she was 4 months old (shelter has only a 30 day return policy). She has a redish/tan short hair with minimum shedding. She has been spayed, is up to date on all her shots, and has been micro-chipped. She has gone through obedience training with a private trainer in our home and is well trained on all basic commands and leash walking. She is crate trained and house trained and does very well for even long periods of time without any accidents. We have had no chewing ... (Read More)problems and she demonstrates no destructive behavior. She is invisible fence trained as well. She is a quiet dog that only barks on occasion or when strangers enter the house. She has a medium energy level and is as happy laying at your feet as she is going for a walk. When she is active she is very athletic and would probably be good at agility training. She is a very loyal dog who always enjoys being around her master. Unfortunately, we have to find a new home for her because she is very anxious, guarded, and growls around young children under 6. We have four children with one being four years old and have a neighborhood full of young kids. We have also experienced some guarding issues around food. Given that we have worked with her for a year, with a variety of methods, without any improvement we have no choice but to give her up to a good home without small children. She would be a perfect dog for a single person, couple, or family with older kids. Please help us find an equally wonderful home for this wonderful dog. (Less)

Animal ID: 6543820Cindy (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Pick me! Pick me!' Cindy is all eager smiles, tail wags and wiggly-jiggly dance moves when she sees folks coming her way along the kennel run. She tries so very hard to make sure you notice her - this super-friendly pup doesn't want to be lost in the crowd! And frankly, not only does this 6-year-old charmer NOT get lost in the crowd, she's sure to stand out! Sporting a lovely deep brindle jacket and a broad, warm smile, sweet Cindy is a bubbly, engaging lady ready to steal your heart. She's always eager to climb into your lap or show off her oh-so-pettable belly as she rolls with delight in the grass. Here's what her temporary foster ... (Read More)mom down south told us about her: 'Cindy is absolutely loving with every human she's met; she's fine with other dogs, too, although she's really much more interested in humans! She's a little TOO interested in cats, however, so a cat-free home would be best for Cindy.' Cindy's foster mom says, 'Cindy loves, loves, loves to be around people! She is a gentle, sweet girl who walks very nicely on the leash. Her idea of heaven would be a home where someone is around the house most of the day, as she's not fond of being crated or otherwise contained ... and she loves having 'people company' more than anything (although she'd be happy to have a canine playmate, too!). She's an eager-to-please girl who is great with kids, housetrained, laid-back and mellow.' Want to learn more? Please e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com to find out if Cindy is the right canine for you! (Local adoptions preferred - Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events (http://almosthomedogrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/events), where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they'll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit http://www.hollysden.com/say_no_to_shock.htm ; scroll down and click on the 'Invisible Fencing Systems' link. We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com . PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Pennsylvania
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Pennsylvania Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser.
