Rescue Me ID: 17-05-22-00164Penelope (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Penelope. I'm about 10 months old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound by my owner and I am looking for a new home. I am a super sweet and loving little girl. I love people and I get along great with other dogs. I like to play and romp around with other dogs. I keep my kennel clean at night and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet little dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. ur adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our ... (Read More)shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Boxer    Age: Puppy

Health: Vaccinations Current

COURTESY POST: This dog is not with Paw Patrol. Please contact Captain Spish for more details. Frank is a boxer and is about one and a half years old. Frank is fixed and up to date on vaccinations. He sometimes needs a little time to warm up to new people but generally does after a proper introduction. He has some minor anxiety and fear to new things but does fine when his person or people help guide him through any new encounter. Frank would be best as an only dog or with a confident and laid back dog friend. Frank is too much energy for small kids and would be better in a home with much older kids or teenagers. He would probably make a ... (Read More)good running buddy or frisbee dog. Frank is a great boy with lots of energy to play with. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Charlie is a lovable, active, fun-loving 2 year old boxer/pitt mix. He has had a lot of homes in his life and is looking for a permanent one, very soon. He loves to snuggle, chase flies, run at full speed in enclosed areas, play with footballs, and just hang out with you. Charlie has demonstrated aggression towards certain other dogs who have been dominant to him - while he is fine with certain other dogs, I think what he needs most of all is a one-dog home with people who are as active as him. He is an amazing, happy, and loving pup who needs a forever home.

Hi there. My name is Sam Gotti. I'm about 8 months old and I weigh about 40 lbs. I was found as a stray in a park. I was there all day. It is guessed that I had been dumped out there. I was found by a very nice lady that took me home for the night then brought me to the pound the next morning. I have a fractured jaw that is currently healing. I will need to eat canned dog food/ soft foods for approximately 4 more weeks. Since everything is lined up good in my jaw, I won't need surgery for it. I do have a large lump under my jaw from calcification that may not go away. When I seen the vet, she gave me antibiotics too just in case I have an ... Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Peanut. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 40 lbs. I was picked up by the pound and I am now looking for a new family. I am a super duper sweet and loving boy. I love snuggling and giving lots of kisses. I am very playful and full of energy buy I mind my manners pretty well and I know some commands. I keep my kennel pretty clean at night and I appear to have possibly been a house dog before making my way in to the pound. I get along well with the other dogs I have been around since coming in to the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is ... (Read More)$120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. My name is Tasha and I'm about 6 years old. I'm a friendly dog and love most people and kids. I wag my tail so hard I might knock over a toddler but it's unintentional. I need a new home since I need to be top dog. I'm best with submissive males. I'm not always fond of females or aggressive dogs. But I'm loyal and love to cuddle and sleep next to you. My owner rescued me as a starving stray and hates to give me up but me and my sister dog don't always get along. I'm hoping you can be my forever home. Love, Tasha

Storm is a very loving animal once your trust has been earned. He obeys commands such as sit, shake, high five, and speak. and when he wants to, he stays lol. I obtained him through a facebook ad three years ago. The owners had moved out and left him for dead, tied to a tree with no shade or water for over 30 days. People had been throwing him scraps and pushing a water bowl to him, hence making him an 'opportunity' eater, which took time, patience and diligence to break. The added no contact with humans, watching his owners drive away and never returning, has taken a tole on him; all I had was time. Further discovery would show even more ... (Read More)horrors that no animal should endure. Checking his teeth it was discoverd that his canines had been broken off and dew claws ripped out, so he could not defend himself or eat. He is very fearfull other dogs, I cannot seem to break this cycle. Humans, he picks and choses who he likes and dislikes. WHen he is on lead, no one can get near you that he doesnt know. In your home, he likes everyone, usually. Once in a while he has an attitude, fearful so i cannot help but wonder if it isnt something with his past. The previous owners, who are unknown to me, were painted as terrible people by the land lady, whom I will respect her identity, for it was she who cried out for help for this beautiful creature. I seen his face and heard his story and immediately set out to pick him up. She asked for no rehoming fee, so I was a little daunted when pulling up at the rest stop to pick him up at our agreed meeting place and time. Attached to a log chain, was a very emaciated, dehydrated and scared little boxer, whose eyes gazed in wonderment as if asking are you going to help me? I got out of my truck, taking with my a couple friends for insite and judgement. They said my opinion of him was dead on. I knelt at his feet, gazed into his big brown eyes and could see all the worry, hurt and pain as he watched everyone around him. Storm is a good boy, just has some issues that come with him. He is unsocialized for the most part, has never been around children so temperment is unknown, he doesnt know how big he is!!! He deserves to live a happy life, no matter his short comings. We are in a place in our lives that, well he needs room to run and chase his tennis balls, squirrels and bark anytime he wants. I believe I have went as far in training as I can, just being me. Can you give him his forever home? He demands your attention lol at all times. (Less)

Hi there. My name is Kirby. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Liverpool area and I was brought in to the pound. I was absolutely terrified for about a week after I was dropped off here and I didn't want anyone to bother me, but now that i have been here for a little bit, I have transformed into a totally different, very happy, very playful and very sweet dog.     Dash is a tough case. I have had him since he was 12 weeks old where he was abandoned at my vet clinic. I would call him unpredictable at best. He spends most of his time wanting to cuddle and be loved on and be in your lap. But he gets anxious and can be aggressive at times. He does usually get along very well with dogs once he is able to get to know them and if the other dog is not too aggressive. Animal ID: CatWomanCatWoman (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi I am CatWoman. I was brought into the rescue in May as a stray running the streets. Since then I have taught my foster family a lot! For instance, they think they crate trained me, but sometimes I remind them when it is time for me to go in. Fetch is my most favorite time of the day, although I do not always like to give up my toy for it to be thrown again. Foster Mom says I need to improve my manners, whatever that means. In the summer, I love to lounge in a pool or play in the sprinkler. Water is so much fun! Even the bath tub is not off limits. The smaller dogs in the house are my friends. We are all around 2 yrs old and close to 45 ... (Read More)lbs, making us triple playmates. I also enjoy late evening couch cuddles after a long day. I hope my furever family adopts me soon! With so much love to share, I just know I can make the right family happy! Cat Woman is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heart worm tested and spayed. Her adoption fee is $175 To meet CatWoman, please fill out an application on our website: adoptapitrescue.org under the application tab! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Ohio
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Ohio Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
