Rescue Me ID: 17-12-04-00275King (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is King. I'm around 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 40 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound by my owner and I am now looking for a new family. I am a very sweet boy. I was a house dog and I do well inside. My previous owner said I am housebroken and crate trained for when they would go away. I get along well with other dogs and my previous owner said I am also good with cats. I have a moderate amount of energy and I like to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal ... (Read More)checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Animal ID: 2Baylee (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Updated 12/2/17 Spaying and shots completed. Ohio rabies tag valid till 11/30/18. Baylee is just over 1 year old. She is 63.5 pounds and about 21 inches high at the shoulder. She and her sister were dumped into a relatives yard and then rescued by my grandson, who lives with me. She has a laid back, 'surfer dude' personality. She began having violent fights with her sister about 4 months ago, usually over a found treat, or food. Once or twice it seemed to be territorial. Everyone (now) tells me that 2 females will always fight or maybe it was because they were not spayed, but the last several weeks they would start to (seriously) growl even ... (Read More)when they just saw each other. After I had to get 8 stitches by accidentally getting between them trying to break up a fight, and with a newborn baby soon to arrive in the house, I have to find them new homes. The county says the will be put down if I send them to their 'shelter'. I don't want that for them, so I am getting them spayed, updating shots, etc. Since Baylee is a short hair breed, she needs an inside home. I don't feel comfortable putting her around children or other dogs, although she has never initiated a fight with the other 2 (smaller) dogs we have here. I really want her to have a good life, but I can no longer provide that for her. (Less)

She and her sister were dumped into a relatives yard and then rescued by my grandson, who lives with me. She has a energetic, curious personality, and shows very high intelligence. She knows how to ask to go outside, how to stare at me thru the window to ask to get back in, etc. She loves to play tug of war and would be great if trained and taken on daily walks, to burn up some of her abundant energy.     Cooper has been a member of our family for six years. We love him dearly, however, we have three small children and we feel our home is not the best environment for him anymore. He is a very loving pet but the excitement of the kids causes him to become very anxious and I'm concerned for the kids' safety when he gets 'wild'. Virginia loves car rides and snuggling and always wants to be around people. We are working on crate training, housebreaking, and walking on a leash. She likes going for walks! She gets along with other dogs. She chases the cat, but doesn't seem to want to hurt him- just play! Virginia loves attention and wants to be wherever her people are. She would be great for someone who loves to go on walks as she is doing a lot better on her leash and walks well when we're out- she loves exploring and going to the ... (Read More)mailbox with us! I don't smile very often inside my kennel, but if I'm outside enjoying the fresh air, I'll smile from ear to ear!!! I love wearing my new harness and going for walks, but I am a strong girl, so you'll need a little bit of muscle if you want to take me for a spin.     Hello everyone. Meet Bree. This beautiful Shepherd/Boxer mix is 7 years old. She was adopted from the Coshocton county animal shelter 7/31/2010. She is good with kids and people. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi I am CatWoman. I was brought into the rescue in May as a stray running the streets. Since then I have taught my foster family a lot! For instance, they think they crate trained me, but sometimes I remind them when it is time for me to go in. Fetch is my most favorite time of the day, although I do not always like to give up my toy for it to be thrown again. Foster Mom says I need to improve my manners, whatever that means. In the summer, I love to lounge in a pool or play in the sprinkler. Water is so much fun! Even the bath tub is not off limits. The smaller dogs in the house are my friends. We are all around 2 yrs old and close to 45 ... (Read More)lbs, making us triple playmates. I also enjoy late evening couch cuddles after a long day. I hope my furever family adopts me soon! PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Ohio
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Ohio Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895.
