Rescue Me ID: 18-02-05-00522Lulu (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

LULU is a one year old (or younger) Boxer mix that ended up, like many do, at the municipal shelter in NYC. We kind of fell in love with her wrinkly face and talked about pulling her, then acted quickly when we found out she was going to be on the 'at risk' list. She is tiny, only 30 lbs and hard to say if she will get much bigger. In addition to the 'shelter cold' she is suffering from a pretty severe case of Demodex mange which has left her scaly and virtually hairless. Winter in the northeast is definitely not a good time to be hairless if you are a dog! But we are keeping her warm and getting her fixed up so she will soon be ready for ... (Read More)adoptive home. Rescue Me ID: 18-01-24-00319Mr. Paulie Meatballs (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Thank you so much for reading all of this post. If you are a dog lover, you'll understand that information is important in choosing a pet. I have a lovely and amazing 4.5 yr old Pit named Mr. Paulie Meatballs. We've been together for the last 4 years. We have had a very successful and healthy relationship and he has been happy and participating as a wonderful pet for me in NYC - and about two years ago, this started to change. He is a very intuitive animal. And also a little sensitive sometimes. He is not cut out for life in an apartment in the city with me anymore. Now, I need to move my elderly mother in with me and under no ... (Read More)circumstances are the two compatible. I can manage myself to accommodate Paulie's sensitivities, but I cannot trust that my mother will be able to. My mother moves in middle of February and I need to find him the RIGHT place to live before then. Paulie is exceptional company. He comes on vacations with me and has been all over NYC. He shops in stores and goes on long walks and even an occasional run while I'm biking. I've dressed him up for Halloween and he communicates when he needs something. He's polite and accepting. Really he has a very human spirit about him. We've had some very successful doggie playdates and vacations to lakes with friends. Paulie LOVES to run on the beach and swim in a lake. He doesn't mind taking a bath in my shower. He sits. He stays. He waits. He knows down, shake and high five. This is a very intelligent dog. But, I'm afraid time has run out for what I can do for Paulie's inability to be flexible around all humans. When he gets nervous he lets you know. I also want him to feel happier and more confident, run with other dogs. My environment is not keeping him happy enough. This is a work dog. Or a pet for a person with another dog. He comes fully trained. He only needs the right environment to thrive. We have done both a film shoot and a print campaign and he absolutely LOVED being on set and working. He absolutely knew he was being of service when we arrived to the sets. He took direction and did EXACTLY as asked. I live in an apartment and he gets 4 walks a day and so much love and training. When I work from home, he is right by my side most of the day. My dog reiki healer and I think that a retired police officer would be an amazing person for him to live with. Or as an emotional support pet. But I believe he will be best suited where he can work and be useful day to day. Or, he could be a working dog. A ranch. He is shy but when the right combo of active dogs are around him, he is fully engaged and LOVES to run and play and be a part of the pack. Paul came to me right after a breakup, and I now have a partner. He and I are planning to have a child in the next year. I cannot trust him around my mom. I think a strong male who lives in a home with an outside area and another pet would be a GREAT fit for him. He LOVES my doorman who is about 6 ft and 300lbs of muscle. Paulie is amazing company. Really responsive and ready to please. But he needs the right home. A mix of space, quiet and yet enough stimulation and work. So smart.. So dignified. Obedient. I'm going to miss his presence in my life, but I do not think we are a good fit any longer. I want to find him the BEST home. It has to be a good fit for both..and I'm sure that is possible. I will do whatever is needed to make this transition smooth for everyone, especially Paulie. I have a car and can transport him. I also trust that whomever gets Paulie next will be infinitely grateful for having been matched with this dog. Thank you so much. Warmly, Abbey https://www.instagram.com/mrPaulieMeatballs/ The YouTube Video above is his commercial. And I have tons more photos of him. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-14-00242Opie (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Opie is the sweetest, most trying to please little man as ever..however, he does have fear issues which causes some anxiety and aggression. He was a rescue and came with a note that mentioned he was timid and would likely need extra attention. We gave him a lot of attention but fell a trainer would be beneficial. He's been a wonderful companion but we've recently added a baby to our household and can no longer give him the required attention he needs. We should have taken extra time before baby to work on some behavioral issues and now don't have the time required to train him so he can be around the baby. We've met with trainers who have ... (Read More)advised us it'll take about 6-8 weeks of training for him to maybe be around baby; we can't keep him locked up like that until he's better. He does get along with our female dog we adopted 2.5 years ago, she was a puppy when we adopted her. The two get along wonderfully (see video)! We had an older male dog when we adopted Opie. The two got along fine until the male passed away of old age. That said, I wouldn't put him in with other dogs unless the two are supervised. Unless you have a lot of time to acclimate him, I think he needs a home where he'd be the only dog. He's never been formally introduced to cats, but chases them out of the yard...my guess is NO cats. He knows how to sit, lay down, and shake. He's beyond loyal and LOVES hugs. We're really going to miss him. He loves footballs, actual footballs - he's our little jock! He'll play with one for hours, it'll crack you up! He loves all balls though, tennis, mini-basketballs, chew balls; you name it! Opie is house broken 100%, he's the best. He will do anything to please - there's just his fear. He needs to be indoors (a delicate jock), and with a couple or family with older kids. He's partial to females, but over time warms up to the men too! He gets really nervous in the car, so car rides are prob best kept to a minimal. He really is a homebody. He's okay on the leash, but is scared of parked (yep parked, not driving cars..don't know why) cars. If you're interested please get in touch! (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This handsome blue-eyed fellow is Pinto. I absolutely adore this dog. He has a typical bulldog personality, so he needs an owner that is bullhead -- I mean bulldog savvy :-) He is the epitome of 'Man's best friend.' This dog LOVES his people. He just wants to be near you, love you and go where you go. I don't want to call him dog selective, but he has had issue with a dog or two, one he did not start but as a bulldog won't back down, the other was a potential jealousy issue. He would do best in a home either with no other dogs, but can definitely do playdates as he does like to play with other dogs and with proper training and socialization ... (Read More)by someone who is well-versed in the bulldog nature, or a two-dog home with a dog who is not dominant. It is not a male or female thing, he's okay with both. He lives with quite a few dogs now that some are large and 'in charge' and he does well, but his foster is very savvy so it works. Don't let the description fool you, he's an amazing dog, one I would personally keep if mine was the right home for him, and with the right home will stay that way and thrive, so we just want someone who knows the breed and doesn't just want him for his good looks ;P Pinto is a one-year-old, fully vetted Olde English Bulldogge. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Here at Adopt-A-Dog, Fry serves the role of gentle giant very well. Still a young pup (he's only 10 months old, if you can believe it), Fry has a lot of learning and growing to do. His last few months have been a bit topsy-turvy as he found himself on our doorstep due to his owner no longer being able to take care of him. We have been hard at work since Fry joined us to help expose him to new experiences and people and to start working on his manners. Even though he is quite a goofball (he loves to chase and eat bubbles), Fry is quick on the uptake and learns new skills pretty fast. You should have seen his face when he realized he could not ... (Read More)only chase bubbles, but catch them too. All this big guy needs in a home is a willingness to get slobbered on followed by tons of comfortable places to sleep and stretch out. We know that this not-so-small Fry is ready for his new family. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Wally! If we made a yearbook of all of our shelter dog's we are certain Wally would be voted 'Class Clown'! When we first met Wally he found himself surrendered to a local animal shelter at a very young age. No one understood him for who he truly is a lively adventure dog. You can say that with people he lacked the correct manners but with his four-legged friends he was the prime example of a fantastic canine. Wally quickly picked up the training we started with him and is always up for learning new things. As much as he depends on us to take care of him, we actually rely on him to assist us when teaching our other dogs how to ... (Read More)correctly interact with their fellow dogs. Wally has had a lot of work building trust in people since a long time ago he was badly treated by the humans that were suppose to care for him.     MEGAN DRAPER! How cute is she? She is a chunky, petite little ball of sweetness. She is a super good natured girl, who is overall very quiet and calm. She does bark when she needs to go outside, that's about it. And she does an adorable trilling sound when she's excited! She had been used as a helper dog at the shelter, that's how good she is with other dogs. Right now she is with three other dogs, and doing fantastic. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in New York
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost New York Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
