Animal ID: Courtesy postLila (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lila spent OVER TWO LONG YEARS in a city shelter . We rescued her in June from the Yonkers Animal Shelter- she was one of their longest residents. Thanks to The Tiny Tim Rescue Fund she went to our good friends at Allied Dog Training. Lila greets EVERYONE as if she is your long lost best friend. Why are we just posting her for adoption at the end of September and now mid October? We believe in completely vetting all of our dogs prior to adoption. Lila had a 'screaming' inflamed kidney that was most likely the result of MULTIPLE untreated urinary tract infections at the shelter. How painful and sad for this poor girl. She has undergone ... (Read More)various tests including a sonogram and she had a wagging tail and happily kissed everyone who came to attend to her medical needs. The end result is that because of the vetting we do her kidney disease is EXTREMELY EARLY Stage 1. Her liver function is normal. Lila is now enrolled in our Medical for Life program. Lila is currently on a special Raw Diet catered towards kidney disease. A diet of Raw is preferable but a high quality canned diet is okay too. Kibble should be avoided at all times. Now that we understand her condition and have done every test recommended by our awesome Dr. Julie and staff from the Visiting Veterinary Practice of Westchester we are actively looking for a forever home or foster for this AMAZING girl! Lila is a petite pittie mix and weighs about 45 pounds. She is housebroken, spayed, UTD on shots and micro chipped. She is 3 years old and spent 2 of those years in a city shelter. She LOVES and GREETS EVERYONE she meets with an abundance of kisses and happiness. That is a true testament to her character and personality. Despite growing up in a city shelter and being sick and untreated she is a happy loving girl. Lila would do best in a home with no small dogs or cats. Meet and greet required for dogs her size or bigger. She has been around children as young as 2 years old and is loving and respectful. She has no food or toy resource guarding issues. She could easily be an agility dog . Lila is located in Dutchess County NY. Adopters will receive lifetime support from our good friends at Allied Dog Training. She is fully trained in on and off leash obedience and adopters will receive handling lessons. Online applications www.townandcountryk9resq.com under contact us. Questions? Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Gronk is a very bright and energetic puppy. Currently, Gronk resides with two other dogs, a cat, and lots of humans both big and small! Playing is Gronks favorite thing to do! Gronk is quick to learn and needs to find a family who has lots of time to take him for walks and help him get his energy out. Gronk does get nervous around new people and it takes him some time to warm up. We prefer that he go to a home with older children due to his energy levels. Pictures upon request.

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

My name is Lisa and I had taken Diesel from a previous owner who could not care for him. Diesel did not know his name or basic tricks, since then he knows the basics and walks very well. He has a lot of energy so he is always wondering. I love him more than anything in this world and writing this is hurting my heart but Diesel needs better. I can't go to dog parks like I would want with him because of school and he needs a family that could do more for him. He can be dominant with other dogs, so I had taken him to training where he learned heel and how to focus on you. I can't be consistent with him and that breaks my heart because this dog ... I want him to have a home that can love him just as much, he loves to cuddle and have your attention, he will sleep with you all night and wag his tail whenever you see him. He is full of love and I hope someone out there can see this and understand how hard this is to do. Please reach out. Thank you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-07-00631Sydney (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sydney is a young boxer / hound (possibly beagle or foxhound) mix puppy we have rescued, her estimated date of birth is 1/19/17. We rescued Sydney and her siblings at 12 weeks old from an abandoned trailer park where they were dumped. The pups were completely emaciated, and terrified. They had never been touched by people before. When we first picked them up, they were screaming, shrieking, and nipping at us in complete fear. With some dedication, love, and care from our foster families, all of the dogs have made amazing progress. These puppies who were once too afraid to make eye contact with us, shaking in their crates, are now looking to ... (Read More)be pet and are realizing the human touch is not something to fear. Sydney currently weighs around 25-30 lbs, a perfect medium size. And while she has never nipped since the first day we rescued her, we are looking for a family without young children as she scares easily. Her reactions are not aggressive, if spooked she will cower or back away. A calmer home with older/more mature children would be best, as well as having a fenced in yard. Sydney loves other dogs, and loves to play with other dogs! A home with another dog would help Sydney become a more confident dog. Once she gets to know you, she is very sweet, and loves affection. However, she will need a dedicated and patient family to work with her. For the right family, Sydney will make an amazing companion! Two of Sydney's siblings have been adopted, and since being adopted have made a complete 180 and are now loving, happy, and social companions to their families. (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Here at Adopt-A-Dog, Fry serves the role of gentle giant very well. Still a young pup (he's only 10 months old, if you can believe it), Fry has a lot of learning and growing to do. His last few months have been a bit topsy-turvy as he found himself on our doorstep due to his owner no longer being able to take care of him. We have been hard at work since Fry joined us to help expose him to new experiences and people and to start working on his manners. Even though he is quite a goofball (he loves to chase and eat bubbles), Fry is quick on the uptake and learns new skills pretty fast. You should have seen his face when he realized he could not ... (Read More)only chase bubbles, but catch them too. All this big guy needs in a home is a willingness to get slobbered on followed by tons of comfortable places to sleep and stretch out. We know that this not-so-small Fry is ready for his new family. (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mhysa is an incredible dog that has lived a difficult life. When we met her she was a guard dog for a drug house, and her owner no longer had any use for her because he was selling the property. He planned to dispose of her either by cutting her free or worse so we stepped in to get her to safety. You can read more details about her rescue story here: https://www.waywardranch.org/mhysa-the-usd1000-dog When we got Mhysa what we expected was a dog that would be far too aggressive to be rehomed, because that is how her owner described her, but we were hesitantly hopeful that we could help her. We were shocked when after only one day with us ... (Read More)Mhysa seemed like a dog that had absolutely no problems. She loved us, walked calmly past other dogs, and was incredibly smart! We were even more shocked to learn this sweet girl was very young, and is only about one year old! Mhysa is understandably nervous around new people due to her past, but she has gone through a great deal of training and is thriving. It now takes her just a few minutes to be comfortable with a new person, as long as they go slow with her. Once she bonds and opens up you'll be able to see how goofy this girl is! Her favorite things are belly rubs, squeaky bee toys, and meatball dog treats! She loves going for car rides and is completely housebroken. She walks well on leash and loves to go for walks. In public places like pet stores she is still nervous and can get shut down, but in the woods she is truly in her element and would make a fantastic hiking partner! Mhysa can't wait to have a home, for the first time in her life. Please give her a chance to wiggle into your heart! We ask that all families interested in her commit to meeting her several times, both to form a bond with her and to learn the training she knows to help her be the best dog she can be in her new home and life!     Meet Wally! If we made a yearbook of all of our shelter dog's we are certain Wally would be voted 'Class Clown'! When we first met Wally he found himself surrendered to a local animal shelter at a very young age. No one understood him for who he truly is a lively adventure dog. You can say that with people he lacked the correct manners but with his four-legged friends he was the prime example of a fantastic canine. Wally quickly picked up the training we started with him and is always up for learning new things. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in New York
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

Boxer
lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost New York Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
