Rescue Me ID: 17-05-21-00383Sydney & Shelly (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sydney (left) & Shelly (right) are two boxer / hound mixes looking for their forever home. We believe they may be mixed with a beagle due to their smaller size. Their estimated date of birth is 1/19/17. They are very petite little girls, only weighing around 20-25 lbs. These girls were found underneath an abadoned trailer in Jasper, Alabama. People who lived near there said the puppies must have been dumped there, as no one knows where they came from, and dumping puppies on other people's property is very common. When we first got the girls in, they had never been held before. They feared the human touch, and would nip and run and hide if ... (Read More)you tried to grab them. Now, they are still very reserved, but they have come a long way. They are very shy and calm dogs. They would do best in a calmer home, with another doggie companion. They would greatly benefit from training that will help them gain confidence in themselves. We are looking to adopt them out separately, so that they can grow independently. They will both be spayed soon. (Individual adoption fee is $350) (Less)

Well, this story is pretty upsetting, but we are hoping and praying that the happy ending is not too far away. This is Santana. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in New York
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser.
