Animal ID: A0960290IRIE (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered

Irie did very well on his behavior assessment, and did not show any indication of resource guarding during the SAFER items. However, due to notes by his previous owner that he did not appreciate having a stuffed toy taken out of his mouth and/or being pushed away from the toy by a child, he will need to go to an experienced adopter who will be willing to work on teaching trade-up games and who understands that you cannot remove an item from a dog's mouth without trading for a treat or another toy. Adoption to a family with young children is not recommended, though older, calm, gentle children can be considered if an interaction goes well. ... (Read More)Please note that the previous owner also reports that Irie will chase cats and is a high-energy dog. (Less)

1 year old Boxer/Plott Hound Mix- weighs approx 25 lbs. This is a sweet boy but has alot of energy. He has lived his whole life in a shelter or rescue. Artie is very loving and needs someone who can excercise him and teach him some obedience. We do allow him to run off lead here and he never runs away. He is very food motivated, crate trained. he gets along with other dogs. I would not suggest Artie for young children as he can be very bouncy- Older children would be fine.     We had to give up our home to foreclosure (in PA) because we couldn't afford it, since my husband lost his company/job things have been going down hill for us. We have two young boys, and that needs to be our primary focus right now. We have moved to New York to live with my mother-in-law in extremely tight quarters, it's now 8 people in a 3-bedroom home. We have two dogs (an american bulldog - mix named Foofa- 5 years old and a Boxer named Scooby, 10 years old). We do not want to give our dogs up and have been trying for years to keep them, but it's getting extremely difficult. We are trying to move out of my mother-in-law's house so our ... (Read More)children have a room of their own instead of sleeping with mom and dad but it is almost impossible with our dogs. Most of the apartments that we find do not want dogs or the ones that are ok with dogs we absolutely cannot afford. Things you should know about our dogs: Scooby is about 47 lbs Foofa is about 65 lbs They are sweet, silly, great with children (our boys are 4 and 10 years old) house-broken They're wonderful companions. They love attention They don't like to be alone Foofa doesn't like cats or small animals Perfect for a family with no other pets The mix is white, with dark freckles on his skin - super adorable.. The boxer is small, brindle and white and also adorable. They are both fixed, up to date on shots, super affectionate, and love to be together. I'm not sure how Foofa would react if we separated them so we are really hoping we can rehome them together. We are not trying to abandon them; We are just lost as of what to do. The urgency has peaked, as my mother-in-law is putting her home up for sale due to financial problems. We have given up on the idea that they will go together so this post is only for Scooby. For Foofa please go here: http://www.RescueMe.Org/id?13-03-04-00433 (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Meet Dingo! He is a 2 year old, male boxer/pit mix. He is about 45 lbs, neutered, up to date on shots, crate trained, and house broken. He knows his basic commands and is good on a leash. He loves long walks and cuddling on the couch. He loves playing fetch. We need to find him a new home, as our household has 3 dogs (2 of which are senior and disabled) and a baby on the way. I started a new job that requires a great deal of travel and we just don't have the time to give him the activity he needs. He will be good with calm dogs and older children, and he would thrive in a home with an active family. We are desperate to find him a good ... (Read More)forever home. Rescue Me ID: 13-01-02-00094Noel (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Noel is a 14 month old Great Dane/Boxer Mix. He came into my care after his family got into some issues with Social Services. Noel is a wonderful dog however due to his size and breed he needs a person to be 'in charge' of him. Though he currently lives with 7 other dogs and 2 cats and a five year old, I prefer he goes to a family where he will be the only pet and there are no small children. He is at the stage in his life where he is testing everyone to see how much he can and cannot get away with so to speak. Because he is such a big guy and he is going to get much, much bigger he MUST have a human that is a dominant and can handle a ... (Read More)big dog. Though he is a big dog physical he is a mush emotionally and he does suffer from separation anxiety. He is a huge baby and he will cry, whine and be destructive if he is left alone. He cannot be left unattended he will chew, get into the garbage, counter surfer etc. So a good big strong crate will be necessary for him and some tough chew toys. Due to his size he is not suitable for an apartment; he is extremely high energy so he will need tons of exercise. He is extremely protective of his family. Once he gets to know you he is loyal and he will protect you with his life, if you are having strangers over he will need to be crated until he is comfortable with them. He will bark/show aggression to them, if he does not know them. I have had him for six months and he has been such a wonderful, loving dog to me and my family. At first he is abit hesitant but he warms up really fast. He does try to dominate me sometimes but I quickly remind him that I am in charge. He loves going for walks, playing fetch, going for rides and cuddling. He is neutered, up to date on all his shots, micro chipped and is excellent health. There is so much more I can say about him so if you think you can find it in your heart and home for this special guy call me. Since it will be necessary for him to go to obedience training and you to invest in some initial supplies I am waiving the adoption fee. However a Vet Check and Home visit is Required, you must sign him up for obedience classes, you must have a big enough sturdy crate/room where he can spend his 'alone time'. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in New York
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost New York Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser.
