Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Malnourished, Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

A beautiful, well fed, well cared for pit/boxer was walking down our street 2 years ago. It was extremely friendly with adults and children, sat and shook hands on command. My next door neighbors who already had a pit bull chained on very short chain, along with a long hair terrier, whose hair was so long that you couldn't see its face or body...with matt's everywhere.. Also chained on very short chain...decided to take this sweet pit/boxer, and has it chained on extremely short chain. It has lost 3/4 of it's body weight, is NEVER unchained, fed, watered, spoken to, or touched, even though the family members walk past it 30+ times a day ... (Read More)to go into the garage, which they've turned into a music studio. The poor dog whines and screams all night and day, other than when it is sleeping, which it has begun to do more and more lately. I have tried to give them dog food/treats, bought them a longer chain, which they cut into two and chained their back yard fence gates. When these people moved in, I immediately introduced myself, and we talked for 1 1/2 hours. Things were friendly until I finally contacted the Kansas City pound, trying to get the dog(s) help, because they are starving right in front of me, and I've cried a bucket of tears watching and being unable to help the poor animal. The pound has come out and cited these people at least 7 times, but has done nothing for the dog. One of their other pits died from starvation, and they stuck it in a trash bag and dropped it up on our street's corner. Another neighbor saw that and called the pound at least 5 months ago. I was told they were under investigation, due to the dead dog, but nothing has been done to help this pit. The neighbors have become hostile toward us (from the Mom all the way down to the youngest daughter, who used to be very friendly. The Mom banged on our door recently, told us she has a friend who works for the City, who told our neighbor that we were the ones who called the pound all the time. She threatened to sue us for harassment if we didn't stop. I've tried every single local rescue that I am aware of, and they all say they cant rescue the dog unless the owner asks for it. I am disabled, can't afford a lawsuit, and don't know where elso to turn, and the dog has grown frantic. Every single rib is showing! They allow their other pit inside, pet it, and seem to feed it. It gets loose and comes into our yard all the time, and we feed and water him. But this brown pit can't get loose, even though it tries. I am begging you to help this starving dog!! It is starving for food, water, love, and attention My name is Pam. Phone #816-353-5403. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am a very happy-go-lucky youngster despite my sad start in life. You see, I thought I had found my perfect home when my 32 year old human died suddenly. I had to leave my wonderful, stable environment to the uncertain existence in a shelter. I long for another forever home where I am loved and where I can devote my my life to another human or family. I am house broken, walk well on a leash (unless a wily squirrel catches my eye), do well on car rides and know the commands sit and come. I love humans and do fine with most dogs but must be fed separately from them (I can be around humans when I eat but get upset if other dogs are present). I ... She says it is impossible to be sad or lonely with me around! I would be best in a house with a fenced yard or with someone who takes me on a daily jog or walk. I would not be good in a home that does give me access to exercise; a home that is fairly active would be ideal. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Missouri
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Missouri if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

Boxer
lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Missouri Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
