Rescue Me ID: 15-09-24-00178Buster (male)
[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Buster had arrived as a stray to our local animal control in horrible conditions and could barely walk. We are unsure of his past but obviously someone was not very nice to him and if Buster could talk he would definitely have a story to tell. After his stray hold LAA decided to take him into foster care to find out what his medical conditions were. Not only was Buster severe heartworm positive he was also diagnosed with grade 2 cancer with clear margins. He since has been treated for the heartworm and he will be tested in November to make sure he is negative and all the heartworm is gone. Buster also has had surgery for his cancer and the results were all the cancer was taken out. This poor fella has had it very rough and now its time for Buster to live a normal happy life! Buster is a sweet boy that once he bonds with his 'person' he will be a magnet. Loves to be reassured that he is loved! Great on leash, good in the car, house trained, crate trained, gentle, well mannered, laid back, and just loves to lay around all day. Buster would make a great companion for someone retired or works from home. Buster is approximately 8 years old, gets along with lower energy cats, is dog selective, and good with older children. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and micro chipped. Adoption fee is $150 If interested in adopting Buster, please fill out our online adoption application and email us at LapeersAdoptables@yahoo.com http://lapeersadoptables.org/canine-adoption-form/ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-19-00142Tasha (female)
TASHA needs to be relocated NOW. The foster home has too many dogs for Tasha to get the attention that she needs. She is just One year old and still has all her puppy energy. She is a really sweet dog and listens well. We believe she is a Boxer lab mix, as she does the front paw waving, like a Boxer. Tasha is 100% vetted- Spayed, microchip, fecal test, HW negative, UTD on all vaccines. She has no health issues. This girl walked in to someones house about 4 months ago and even though the older owner was found, they did not want her back. She was just too much pup for the lady. Her energy level dropped quite a bit since she was spayed and she focuses much better. Tasha would do well in a home with teenagers or a high energy couple who like to run/bike/swim with their dog. She is VERY smart and learns quickly. She retrieves. At this point, Tasha probably would not do well with a cat but she is a good candidate to learn that cats are her friends. She is in a 'pack' of dogs right now and feeds off the energy. She really needs some time with a good trainer or knowledgeable owner. Tasha had a history of fence jumping, so with the right training and daily high-level exercise and possibly an invisible fence barrier, she would turn out just fine. This is a really GOOD dog and is not mean whatsoever. She is coming along well in her house-training but absolutely cannot stand being in a crate- she cries and cries for a while and slobbers all over herself. That would be another area a patient person could effectively work the kinks out of. Please contact email@example.com or visit Streethearts Adoptable Animals on FB to read more about Tasha, watch a video or two of her and request a foster or adoption application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-25-00202Cinders (female)
Cinders was brought into the shelter through animal control and has not been claimed. She was found behind a grocery store tied to a pole. She was very timid when she arrived and very slow to warm up to people. She has become more trusting of humans and would make a wonderful watch dog. We do not recommend very small children as she may become very protective of her new family. Once she trusts you, she is yours completely. Please consider giving Cinders a new loving home. She has been with us since September, 2014 and her adoption fee has dropped to $50.00. This includes her spay and micro chip.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
