Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Unfortunately I have to rehome my family pet henny that I have had since 8 weeks. She is 10 years old. Great with kids and other dogs. She is an incredible loving and well behaved. She can go 12 hours with out an accident. Henny knows how to sit, shake, lay down, speak. She mainly loves to lay around with people, go for walks and play fetch. She is up to date on shots, just had a couple sist checked for cancer and was all clear. I never in a million years thought I would give this dog up. Due to financial issues I had to move home with parents for 6 month to get on my feet. I had a friend watching her for two weeks, and his dog bit henny. I ... (Read More)do not want her in an environment with my friends aggressive dog. I have no where else that can take her. I will be picky with picking who takes her. I need to know henny is going to be in stable environment and be loved the way deserves. If you think you have a home that fits please email. This is my baby. Please email any questions and tell me about your self. (Less)

found this handsome man running down telegraph road. He is very friendly and tries to curl himself on your lap to cuddle. I am uncertain if he is good with kids, as I do not have any children to test this out on, but is very friendly and sweet. As for the breed I took an educated guess.

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Kenny has two issues that require special care for a happy life outside of the shelter. First, his lower jaw was degloved at some point in his life and it healed in such a way that the skin now flaps down. Secondly, his back legs will not work properly due to either an old injury or even a birth defect, acc to his vet. He has adjusted to his issues and gets around pretty well though. He's a very nice and happy dog, somewhere between 6 and 8 years old. He is heartworm negative, very interested in cats, though at this point we can't tell if he really likes them or it's something else. Please see his video and more pictures at Downriver ... Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Janice and I'm a 2 year old Boxer mix that really likes to be petted and touched. I enjoy meeting all sorts of people and I'm ready to find my forever home. On August 29th I entered the RPSM Correctional Training Program where I have started learning all my basic commands and maybe some cute tricks. I don't mind having my coat groomed and am well behaved when my trainers brushed my teeth and clipped my nails. My lucky adopter will receive an operator's manual so we can continue to enjoy and practice the great training I'm receiving. I'm spayed and UTD on all my vaccines, HW, and FT. RPSM recommends children 6 years and older. ... (Read More)I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground.     Oh hi there! My name is Carmen and I am a Heinz 57 (which I might add is the best breed of all!) Some people think I have some boxer and hound in me, other say I am mixed with pitbull but my foster mom doesn't think so. I am spayed and UTD on shots but I am heartworm positive. I am being treated for that and will go home with enough medication for you to finish my treatment. I am crate-trained, house trained, good with kids, dogs, cats, everyone! I am such a nice sweet girl! I bark at strangers when they come over but I quiet down quickly. I like to chew on rawhides and am just an all over sweetheart! I love to lean my body into you ... Foster mom says I have no bad habits at all - well of course I don't, I'm a nice adult dog and I left all that puppy nonsense behind a couple years ago. I am a total gem and I KNOW there is a perfect family for me out there!! I hope it's you! (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Deacon has been at the Barry County Animal Shelter since June 2013, I fostered him recently for about 2 months and he was wonderful. He did AWESOME with my female dog, and he and my small male dog played and like one another but had food aggression issues. He did well with my four year old step son and seven year old sister, but would probably do best with older children. Was always fine with my cat, never tried to hurt her. He is a lover! But is terrified of thunderstorms, he needs someone who is willing to gain his trust. He is at my work currently because being at the shelter is too stressful for him. Please Contact Rachael at ... Rescue Me ID: 14-06-03-00224Amelia (female)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Name: Amelia Sex: Female Age: 4 years old Breed: Boxer Weight: 60 lbs Vaccinations: UTD Spayed/Neutered: yes Cats: no Kids: Yes Other dogs: very selective Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: in progress Amelia is a 4 year old, pure bred boxer. She is spayed, UTD on her shots and microchipped. Amelia is a smart, sweet girl who came to POET as an owner surrender when her family fell on hard times. Although she loves people it takes her a while to trust them and therefor will require time and patience when adjusting to a new home. Amelia has kept us on our toes since she's been with us. She took a ... (Read More)one week adventure late last year, after escaping the vet's office during a potty break, over a 6 foot wall. Her escapade took her approximately 15 miles from her original location. After being caught she suffered from some severe anxiety and PTSD issues. She has come a long way since then, even completing a 6 week obedience class. She is still cautious about new situations and can be verbal and pace when nervous. She suffers separation anxiety but with time, patience and structure she will adjust. Amelia is selective about other dogs. She would do well as an only dog or possibly a laid back dog. She would not do well with high energy or in your face dogs. A meet n greet is a must. She has been fostered with cats, but is not a fan. It would be preferred she go to a home without cats or small animals. Amelia is wonderful with children. Due to her ability to jump fences, Amelia will require a 6 foot privacy fence AND constant supervision when outdoors. When her anxiety gets the better of her she will likely try to escape, with little or no warning. Amelia also suffers from seizures. Despite testing, the cause has not been diagnosed and therefor she is not medicated at this time. She is on daily medication for hyperthyroidism. Amelia is a great dog despite her obstacles. She needs to trust above all else and once you gain that the rest falls into place. She has good days and bad days and will require a family who will stick with her through it all. She will require patience and dedication, but she is worth the work. (Less)

Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Spike is a wonderful and beautiful dog! He looks big, but is only 66 #. He does however, have a tennis ball craze, and will eat them if you let him! :( Therefore, NO TENNIS BALLS. He gets along well with all dogs, big and small. He crates super easy and sleeps in his crate if necessary. Spike does test his position with new males (similar in age) and older females, but lovingly accepts all younger females and males. He whines a little when riding in the car, but settles after a little while and sleeps. Great with kids and adults. Cats are unknown.

Calvin is a sweet and friendly young dog. He is energetic and eager to please. Calvin is a bright boy who already knows 'sit' and 'stay.' With the right family, Calvin will grow into an awesome dog. An experienced bully breed owner and obedience training would be the ideal fit for this active boy who is still learning proper dog etiquette. Families with young children would not be the best fit for Calvin. Stop by and visit with this charming pup.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
