Rescue Me ID: 14-07-21-00180Bruce (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Men Only
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Is was a very hard decision for me, but my husband and I are looking for a new home for our dog, We adopted Bruce from the Humane Society when he was about 5 months old. We have tried to make it work the last 7 months but his behavior hasn't changed. We have a very submissive dog, he is constantly attacking her when they are outside, she doesn't like to go outside anymore. And he occasionally jumps up on me and grabs my hair with his teeth and has came very close to my face several times. Most of the time he is sweet. He tries to be a lap dog when we watch tv and he sleeps cuddled with me every single night. We have two small children and ... (Read More)cannot take the chance of something happening to them. When my husband is around Bruce is not like this, but unfortunately my husband works full time and I am home with the kids and dogs all day every day. We think a home with a man or a couple with no children and no pets would be best for him. We will be asking a small rehoming fee. I want to avoid taking him back to the humane society, we need to find him a new home by 8-1-14. (Less)

Lizzie is a very sweet, affectionate, loving Brindle Boxer mix. She was found by a friend wandering the streets. I had her checked out by a vet and she had her rabies shot in May 2014. Lizzie is great with people and with other dogs. She is a little hyper, but she is adorable, funny and very, very smart. She needs more than I can give her at this time and she would do well with a family. She's playful and loves 'hugging' her humans. I just want her to have a good home to grow up in. $35.00 fee for paperwork and placement process.

Charlotte is a very smart, trainable dog, who is going through a lot of adjustments. We recently moved, and had a baby. She is good with our kids and our bunnies, but is snapping at friends' children. Our vet thinks this is protective behavior, but we do not want to take the chance with the baby. She would be a great companion and protector for someone who understands dogs and is willing to work with her, she is very much a lab!

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Hello, I am in desperate need to find a home or rescue for my dog Louie. He is going to be 6 years in October. He has bitten people on two separate occasions. He is not aggressive, but very timid which seems to be the reason for the bites. On both occasions someone new in our home was reaching in to pet him and he turned and snapped and then ran away. I have two young children in my home and don't have the time or ability to work with him. My husband and I are concerned that if we do not find a home for him soon we will have to take him to a pound where he will be euthanized. He is up to date on shots and I firmly believe he could thrive in ... (Read More)an adult only environment. He seems to favor men over women and has a very high anxiety temperament. The people we got him from said he was purebred, but we do not have any paperwork to prove if he is or is not. (Less)

Hello, my name is Sara Miller and I am desperately looking for a place to take my dog Abby. She is a 2 year old boxer mix, up to date on all her shots, spayed, heartworm tested (negative), great with children and likes cats. Abby is very selective as to what dogs she will get along with. I recently came home from a deployment overseas and moved in with my fianc̩e. Abby didn't get along with his dog and unfortunately this is something we decided we had to do. She is with a foster family right now but I got a phone call 2 days ago saying they can only keep her for another week. I am desperate, I love her as if she was my own child and hate ... Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lily was originally adopted by a college student. Did not understand how to handle/train her. She is very 'human pack' oriented. She is living in a house with another dog but not suggested to be placed in another due to past history of biting/fighting. She has a high prey drive, she is stubborn and nervous. She requires a calm, level headed dominant owner that has time for her. I will bring her anywhere in Michigan/Wisconsin. She comes with a muzzle/shock collar and a 'Caution with dogs' collar along with harness and leash. She does not deserve to be euthanized.

Was given to us we r not familiar with the dog. The original owner had to get rid of him because of there land lord ordered them to, they were going to have him put down because they had to get rid of him immediately and due to him being part pit the shelters would not adopt him out, so we felt bad and took him in. His name is max and he is 5 years old, he has been fixed. I have 2 other dogs and 3 kids just don't have the time for an unfamiliar dog. I would suggest this to someone without other pets. He does try and attack my female Husky when ever they are together. He is great with our kids and he is well trained, house trained, he ... (Read More)knows tricks (Shake, Lay down, Sit). However he is a one dog person, he does not like my other dogs at all. My kids were playing with him and having him do tricks and he was very good and gentle with them. Rescue Me ID: 14-06-05-00119Sophie (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sophie is 5 years old. Until recently, she was raised with 3 other dogs. However, she does not seem to get along with other dogs. We had to move, we rehomed one dog, had another with temperamental and medical issues put down. We went from 2 acres to a mobile home park, we were able to bring her with us, but we knew it would be a huge adjustment for her. She has done better than expected, but this is just not working out for her. We had an issue the other day, which has been worked out and cleared up, but the Park has given us 2 weeks to find her a new home. She was not raised with children and is nervous around them, she somehow seems ... (Read More)threatened by them, so I do not trust her around children. She is a very good loving dog, very much my husband's dog, very loyal to both of us. Our older box who is also in the picture, is the Queen around here, and you can just tell Sophie wants to have her place. They get along very well, though not without a minor growl once in a while. Example, Sophie loves to play with her tennis balls, but she won't let Missy play with them, she doesn't fight her, but she will give her the 'look' and maybe with a slight growl. Missy just walks away as though saying, go ahead, have fun, I'm to old for toys, lol. I really need to find Sophie a home, she deserves a good home with some room to run. Fenced area would be great, unless somebody is outside with her. She is not known to run off, though she used to like to run a bit into the pines at our old home and roll is animal leavings, which was not nice. She is afraid of loud noises, and I swear she knows when a thunderstorm is coming days before the weathermen know. (Less)

Although she loves people it takes her a while to trust them and therefor will require time and patience when adjusting to a new home. Amelia has kept us on our toes since she's been with us. She took a ... (Read More)one week adventure late last year, after escaping the vet's office during a potty break, over a 6 foot wall. Her escapade took her approximately 15 miles from her original location. After being caught she suffered from some severe anxiety and PTSD issues. She has come a long way since then, even completing a 6 week obedience class. She is still cautious about new situations and can be verbal and pace when nervous. She suffers separation anxiety but with time, patience and structure she will adjust. Amelia is selective about other dogs. She would do well as an only dog or possibly a laid back dog. She would not do well with high energy or in your face dogs. A meet n greet is a must. She has been fostered with cats, but is not a fan. It would be preferred she go to a home without cats or small animals. Amelia is wonderful with children. Due to her ability to jump fences, Amelia will require a 6 foot privacy fence AND constant supervision when outdoors. When her anxiety gets the better of her she will likely try to escape, with little or no warning. Amelia also suffers from seizures. Despite testing, the cause has not been diagnosed and therefor she is not medicated at this time. She is on daily medication for hyperthyroidism. Amelia is a great dog despite her obstacles. She needs to trust above all else and once you gain that the rest falls into place. She has good days and bad days and will require a family who will stick with her through it all. She will require patience and dedication, but she is worth the work. (Less)

She kennels well, but is a little afraid at entry. Loves car rides! Overall 100% sweet and happy to learn. House trained and likes to sleep behind furniture.

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Haley is a wonderful pup. House trained, smart, loving and FULL of kisses! She even kisses the AIR when you talk puppy/baby talk to her! She kennels without a peep, and will sleep at the end of the bed. She had a truly 'ruff' start, getting the mange when only months old. But she is well on her way to healing and is feeling great finally! She will demand a good, solid nutrition and thus keeping her immune system in tip top shape! She is fully up to date on her vaccinations, and spayed.

With the right family, Calvin will grow into an awesome dog. An experienced bully breed owner and obedience training would be the ideal fit for this active boy who is still learning proper dog etiquette. Families with young children would not be the best fit for Calvin. Stop by and visit with this charming pup.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States.
