Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Chewy. He is a 3 year old boxer mix. He is a big baby who loves to please and cuddle. He is house broken, will go in the crate but doesn't care for it much. He gets along with other dogs, unknown with cats, and likes kids. Probably would do best in a home without a toddler as he does not realize his own size. We are a foster based rescue located in Grand Haven. We have an application process which does include a vet check, home ownership or verification with landlord, and a background check for previous abuse and neglect. You can find our application on our website caninesrescue.com.

Hey folks my name is Lenny and I am a 60# hunk of burning love. I am currently at the Jackson County Animal Shelter In Jackson Michigan. I am in need of some serious manners so I am heading into the Refurbished Pets Prison program. I would do best in a home with no small children because I just don't understand my size. This may change after training. I am about a year old and love to play so I am on the market for a very active family that loves to hike, bike or run. Hit me up by putting in an application today. I'm neutered and UTD on all my vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of my own. RPSM recommends children 8 years and ... (Read More)older. I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $300. (Less)

Hi. My name is Biscuit and I am a 3 year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog mix. I'll bet you've never heard of that before! I was very scared and confused when some people found me hiding in some bushes in a high traffic area of Saginaw. However, the people that found me were really nice so I decided it was ok to show them my laid back, sweet personality. I like to just stroll around the yard and enjoy the outdoors. Other dogs are alright, but I'd rather just lounge around. I've decided that I'm a bit too sophisticated for that puppy play nonsense, so I just find a better place to hang out. Because of my laid back personality, either a standard ... (Read More)or an invisible fence would be fine for me. I can't wait to meet more nice people in my training program! Rescue Me ID: 17-09-07-00068Lance (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Lance is an amazing intelligent 8 month old, 50lb, large breed puppy that has survived incredible odds to become what he is today: An active happy boy who is able to walk a mile and enjoys the company of other dogs! :D Lance was found on the streets of San Antonio, TX in April 2017 near a yard filled with junk and debris. He was brought to Animal Control Services partially paralyzed. His first reports indicated that he was in much pain, but was able to move his legs in random motions. He was given a bed, pain meds, and some time to recover from whatever caused his paralysis. Because he was deemed unadoptable :/ he was also listed for ... (Read More)euthanasia. Lance was brought to the attention of Compass Dog Rescue through a FB video (shared earlier and in our photo library), and that is where his story really begins: Through incredible fostering, some generous pledges for his medical needs, a nutritious diet, some physical therapy and the perseverance by one determined dog, Lance is now walking a mile a day and is ready to start his forever home search. In his current foster home Lance has learned to walk on a leash, and he is also crate trained. He rides well in the car and looks forward to going on outings to local doggy friendly places. Lance loves to meet new people and seems to take new environments in stride. Lance is also attending obedience classes and may progress to doggie socialization groups. Lance is still working on housetraining, but that is due is some part to the delay in him having use of his hind quarters.. He likes to be clean and works hard to stay that way. For the most part, he is successful. He knows how to sit, down and is learning 'wait' for his foster mom to lead before going in and out of doors. He is highly trainable and has the drive and stamina for much more given the right environment. He seems to want the company of other dogs, and likes to try to do whatever they do - so an older dog that knows the ropes and can help Lance learn to be a great dog would be an asset in his next home. Although Lance lived with a cat in his previous foster home, and has been around cats in his current home, he does show too much interest in them for us to recommend a home with cats. Because of Lance's injury and consideration around that, his ideal home would be child free or have dog savy children 12 and up. His foster family would prefer no electric fencing or tie-outs for Lance - so a physically fenced in yard would also be best. Previous breed experience with a dog from working lines (German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Cane Corso) is a plus, as Lance is exceptionally intelligent and will do best in a home with experience with dogs that are driven to do a job well. Lance is an exceptional dog, who deserves an outstanding home that can support him and guide him to continue to be the best dog he can become. They need to understand that he has come so far but should his physical defects not resolve completely - will love him anyway. A village stepped up to rescue Lance and we are looking for a very special adoptive family for him that will be able to help him continue on his amazing journey. We are here to provide all the information that we have to help anyone interested make a good and informed decision. Anyone with interest in this darling miracle of a boy, please inquire today!     Clyde came to us as the product our our son and his college girlfriends breakup, followed by him leaving to the Marines about a year ago. Unfortunately we have 3 other dogs, and although he is more submissive, our and gets along well with 2 of them and the cats, he and our boxer do not get along. The boxer is aggressive towards him. And although Clyde doesn't start the aggression, he will defend himself. It's just him and the boxer. Clyde gets along g wonderfully with the German shorthaired pointer and with our chiuahuah. And we have e tried multiple methods to help him and our boxer live together peacefully, we can't seem to find d ... (Read More)something that works. We have never seen him with children under 13 but he seems to love teenagers and adults. Our thoughts are that he would make someone a good pet in a single dog home..And without small children. He really is very sweet and we would keep him if we could. We do the want him to go to a kill shelter or someone that wouldn't give him the love and attention he deserves which is why we've kept him and tried so many things GS to make it work. He loves to snuggle. He loves short walks. We would be willing to update all his vaccinations for whoever we feel would be a good fit for him. (Less)

I should not be in a home with another female dog. I shouldn't be in a home with kitties either due to my high prey drive. I know how to sit, stay, lay down, heel and walk well on a leash. I am playful and love to chase balls and stuffed toys. I'm real good about bringing them back to you. I ride excellent in cars and love to go for rides. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

Boxer
lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
