Animal ID: 9856Fox (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered

This is Fox! Fox arrived to Lapeer County Animal Control as a stray and is now available for adoption! He is approximately 8-9 years old and 45 pounds. This older fella is a possible special needs dog. A veterinarian will have to verify his needs. When he first arrived to the shelter, he was having difficulties with his walking, but seems to be doing better. Fox is a sweet, friendly boy who likes attention! He is quite sad to be in the shelter though and would love a home. He walks nice on leash and appears to be house trained! He is neutered! His fee is $50. Call 810-667-0236 for more info. Adoption hours are M-F 9:30-12:00 & 12:30-4:15, ... (Read More)except Wednesday-closed at noon and open Saturday 9:00-2:00. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-20-00242Lacey (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I have had Lacey since she was 6 weeks old, and she was raised with my three girls and is 6 years old now. She has a beautiful brindle coloring, is house trained and kennel trained. She knows many fun tricks and the standard commands; sit, stay, lay, down etc. She went thru a 6 week one on one behavior training and a 4 week social dog training school. My daughter bought a puppy pug three years ago and have had too many incidents of aggression from Lacey towards the little pug. We have tried behavior counseling, monitoring their behaviors, separated their toys, food, beds, etc., to avoid any and all confrontations. After three long years it ... (Read More)still continues and we have just accepted that Lacey just does not like sharing her home with another little dog. I cannot keep worrying every moment where each dog is all the time. So it is with a heavy heart that I post her picture and information on this site with many prayers of finding the right fit and home for her. Lacey has not been raised around men as I was a single woman, so she has not liked men but is fine around my boyfriend now. I do not recommend a home with men however, she is more comfortable around women and I do not recommend children under the age of 12. (she tends to get quite nervous and agitated around young kids with lots of energy) Lacey is a very loving dog who is very protective, will sleep right next to you, or lay at your feet but she also does not like to be mauled or hugged or bothered when she is sleeping. She weighs about 63 lbs. but sometimes thinks she is a lap dog. She does like to bark when a car pulls in the driveway or even in the neighbors driveway so she is always on alert. Ten minutes a day of playing fetch with a ball keeps her happy and fit, and talking her for walks. (Less)

Coraline is a very sweet but protective dog. She is part boxer, part Shepherd with some pit bull. I adopted her from the humane society when she was a puppy. She is a very good guard dog but has recently shown aggression towards my toddler and strangers. She also has some anxiety issues. She gets along with male dogs but would be best as the only dog. She is an absolute sweetheart but unfortunately does not do well with children. It breaks my heart that we have to rehome her but it's necessary. I really love her and believe she deserves a second chance to make a companion for someone else

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
