Rescue Me ID: 18-06-14-00046Lance (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Lance is an active happy one year old boy who is able to walk several miles a day, run, jump, and do pretty much everything a normal dog will do. Lance is sixty pounds of pure puppy joy. He is a gentle and loving dog with amazing blue/gold eyes. He loves people and adores snuggling with his people. Lance has an amazing can-do personality and playful nature. Lance was found injured on the streets of San Antonio in April 2017. He was given a bed, and some time to recover. After a few weeks, Lance was listed for Euthanasia. Lance was was unable to sit or stand. He could not use his front legs well enough to be put in a regular wheelchair. At ... (Read More)first, nothing could really be found to pinpoint his injury, so he was started on gentle physical therapy and then swim therapy. He was given good food, lots of loving care, and started to use an all supportive wheelchair. About two months after his rescue, Lance started to stand up and later he began to walk. Lance came to Michigan July 2017. He captured the hearts of his transporters with his stunning eyes and vivacious personality. One volunteer asked to transport him the rest of the way to Michigan to his home, she was so taken with him. Lance began to run and jump in his new home. He was improving at a tremendous rate. After further vet assessment it was discovered he had dislocated a vertebra in his neck, just in front of his shoulders but that the area was stabilized and should not cause any issues in the future. Lance wears a gentle leader head collar that puts less stress on the neck area as a harness/collar could put too much pressure on the old injury site. Lance has feet that turn outward but although he looks a little different, he has no problems with mobility. Lance is eating a raw all natural diet, supplemented by premium dog food. He is on no special medications, but will need a patient and caring adopter to help him as his nerves continue to regenerate in his hindquarters. He is housetrained except for episodes of excitement that he sometimes cannot control. He likes to be clean and works hard to stay that way. With a little management he is pretty successful. Lance is now ready to look for his forever home, and in his current foster home has learned to walk on a leash, and he is also crate trained. Lance attended obedience training and knows many commands. He seems to want the company of other dogs, and likes to try to do whatever they do, so a laid back dog that knows the ropes would be an asset in his next home. Although Lance lived with a cat in his previous foster home, and has been around cats in his current home, he does show too much interest in them for us to recommend a home with indoor cats. Lance has played with older children briefly, but because we do not know his background Lance will be placed in a home with older dog-savvy children (10 and up). We are looking for a very special adoptive family for him that will be able to help him continue on his amazing journey. If you think that could be you - please send an inquiry today! Lance is fully vetted and microchipped. (Less)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

He is now fully vetted and ready for his forever home. A fenced yard is required, but a companion dog is not for Toby. He has the most wiggles of all the auction dogs we brought in last month, and is dog friendly to all females and males too! He is turning 7 in just a few days, and that means in our adoption process, he adopts for NO FEE in order to find him a home! He is crate trained and keeps his crate clean and dry. He walks very well on leash and rides well in the car. He was diagnosed with tick disease (ehrlichiosis) upon intake and was treated successfully and he's feeling great! Toby does have treat and toy aggression with other ... (Read More)dogs, as is sometimes common with mill dogs who never experienced either. Typically this will fade as treats and toys become every day experiences, but not always. He is not aggressive at all with humans. Application form for Toby is located on our website, www.fortheloveofaboxer.org and again, he places for NO ADOPTION FEE due to age. He is fostered in Wallace, MI. (Less)

He is scared, timid and trusts women quicker than men. He is gentle and sweet, and is slowing coming out of his shell in order to trust people. Dogs are his security, and his best moments are spent with other dogs! Therefore, he requires a companion dog in his adoptive home. He also requires a physical fence.     Lexie, the 1 1/2 yr old mixed breed was adopted in February but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. Due to no fault of her own, Lexie is back up for adoption and is looking for her forever home. Lexie is still a puppy, so she will need a family with lots of time, patience, and love to work with her on simple obedience and training. She is housebroken and crate trained, spayed, and UTD on vaccinations. This sweet and playful girl is your typical pup and has many years of love to give! She does tend to be a little shy at first with strangers, but warms up pretty quickly and then can't stop her butt from wiggling. She does great with the other ... We suggest no cats since she is driven to chase them. Blitzen loves car rides, playing, loves to snuggle up beside you & will give you puppy kisses. She is gentle, with a vibrant personality, loves to play & would make a wonderful companion to a person or family. Although Blitzen is crate-trained, she does well if left alone loose while nobody is home. She is spayed, microchipped, potty-trained, crate trained, learning leash manners, & up to date on all ... (Read More)vaccines. Blitzen was an owner surrender due to Blitzen having some food aggression with another household dog. Since she has been in rescue, her foster has worked with Blitzen & she doesn't appear to be having any more of these issues & eats freely with the foster's dogs. Streethearts Animal Rescue always strives to find the very best homes for our rescue dogs, fitting them to the right potential new owner. We take care of all their vetting & medical needs prior to being available for adoption. The breed we post is most often pure speculation from the dog's appearance & could not be truly identified with accuracy without a DNA test. We operate from donations only & always welcome any financial help anyone can offer to assist with the care of these misplaced dogs needs. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States.
