Rescue Me ID: 14-11-24-00367Milo (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Milo was rescued from Genesee County Animal control about 6 months ago. Unfortunately, Milo is not good with cats, well cats that would run from him. He loves to chase anything and everything. He is full of energy and needs lots of exercise. He does get along with some dogs although we've been told by his trainer that he is rude and needs to be with a dog that can put him in his place. He is very sweet and loves people, but he does have issues with play biting and for that reason we do not leave him alone with our 8 year old daughter. He thinks he's playing but it can be scary to her. We would love to see Milo in a home where he can get lots ... (Read More)of exercise and the love and attention he deserves. The adoption fee is negotiable to the right home. Please note, we have plenty of contacts at rescue organizations and we will check out anyone who is interested in Milo before re-homing him. (Less)

Animal ID: 14-10-31-00154Flip (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Flip is a very handsome 2 year old Brittany Spaniel/Boxer mix. He is an extremely intelligent boy. He is athletic, fun-loving and a devoted snugglebug. He is a good medium size at about 45 pounds. Is he perfect? Nope! Is he awesome with amazing potential? ABSOLUTELY! We truly believe he can learn just about anything very quickly! Flip has spent most of his 2 years of life in a crate.. but he IS housetrained. He needs a little time and patience to teach him appropriate indoor play (shaking the stuffings out of pillows is not appropriate, etc.. :O) Flip wants to chase cats, birds, squirrels.... So would not be good in a home with any ... (Read More)small furries or birds. His foster home has cats, so he still has to stay in a crate, except when he goes for walks. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped. Please email for an application: animalaidofbranchcounty@yahoo.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-28-00057Sparty (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sparty is a really fun boy and is the perfect combination of playful and cuddly! He would be great for an active home that will allow him to play! Due to his energy level and size, young children would not enjoy Sparty as he would tend to overwhelm them. However, older children/teenagers and active adults would absolutely love this guy! He is fully grown at 14 months, about 60lbs, and already knows most basic commands! Please ask about Sparty today! (P.S. For all you UofM fans, he also responds to Smarty if you'd prefer!) ;)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Kenny has two issues that require special care for a happy life outside of the shelter. First, his lower jaw was degloved at some point in his life and it healed in such a way that the skin now flaps down. Secondly, his back legs will not work properly due to either an old injury or even a birth defect, acc to his vet. He has adjusted to his issues and gets around pretty well though. He's a very nice and happy dog, somewhere between 6 and 8 years old. He is heartworm negative, very interested in cats, though at this point we can't tell if he really likes them or it's something else. Please see his video and more pictures at Downriver ... Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Calvin is a sweet and friendly young dog. He is energetic and eager to please. Calvin is a bright boy who already knows 'sit' and 'stay.' With the right family, Calvin will grow into an awesome dog. An experienced bully breed owner and obedience training would be the ideal fit for this active boy who is still learning proper dog etiquette. Families with young children would not be the best fit for Calvin. Stop by and visit with this charming pup.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
