Rescue Me ID: 14-10-16-00675Nova (female)
Nova is about 2 years old give or take. I have had her since she was 4 or 5 months old. She was rescued off a tree starving. Very smart and responsive to treats. Cannot own large dog in my new apartment so looking for a new home. I am a dog behavioralist and I am looking for a single, dominant, and PATIENT owner for her high energy and tendency to push what she can and cannot get away with. She is very loyal and protective but friendly with the right owner to correct bad behavior immediately.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-15-00435Hank (male)
Hello, My name is Aimee Renchenski. I live in Livonia, MI and rescued a beautiful male boxer running in the middle of an intersection up from my home. He had no tag and was not micro chipped. I placed an add on Craigslist, contacted the local police and posted on the Humane Society Facebook pages in my area. My neighbor has even taken him for walks around the local neighborhood in hopes of finding his family. No one has come forward. I live near a county park and I fear he may have been dropped. He has a good nature, good with my children and my other animals (ferret, cat, medium mix breed dog and 3 chihuahuas). He is very handsome and loving. I would love to keep him, but as you see, I am already maxed out. ; ) (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-24-00458Snoopy (male)
Snoopy is kind of a mutt. We think hes got some boxer, hound, maybe some bull terrier..?? He is just the sweetest guy! He is about 7 years old he is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Hes been fostered in my home with my 8 year old son, my cats/kittens, and other dogs. Big and small breeds. He LOVES other dogs, big and small and LOVES the friendly cats that come into rescue. Kids and loud noises make him uncomfortable. He is really big huge baby. He sleeps next to my bed at night and follows me around until i stop to do dishes or relax. Then he lays at my feet. Hes the definition of loyal. He loves his rump scratched and behind his ears. He has really bonded with my 8 year old son after a couple of months. I dont think he was treated well by kids in the past. Hes great off leash and listens very well. Hes super playful still with other dogs and loves to chase and wrestle. My personal big old dog gets kind of crappy with him at times and he has never responded back. |Rescue Me ID: 14-09-19-00387Henny (female)|
Unfortunately I have to rehome my family pet henny that I have had since 8 weeks. She is 10 years old. Great with kids and other dogs. She is an incredible loving and well behaved. She can go 12 hours with out an accident. Henny knows how to sit, shake, lay down, speak. She mainly loves to lay around with people, go for walks and play fetch. She is up to date on shots, just had a couple sist checked for cancer and was all clear. I never in a million years thought I would give this dog up. Due to financial issues I had to move home with parents for 6 month to get on my feet. I had a friend watching her for two weeks, and his dog bit henny. I do not want her in an environment with my friends aggressive dog. I have no where else that can take her. I will be picky with picking who takes her. I need to know henny is going to be in stable environment and be loved the way deserves. If you think you have a home that fits please email. This is my baby. Please email any questions and tell me about your self. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-10-00052Oreo (male)
found this handsome man running down telegraph road. He is very friendly and tries to curl himself on your lap to cuddle. I am uncertain if he is good with kids, as I do not have any children to test this out on, but is very friendly and sweet. As for the breed I took an educated guess.

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-05-00229Kenny (male)
Kenny has two issues that require special care for a happy life outside of the shelter. First, his lower jaw was degloved at some point in his life and it healed in such a way that the skin now flaps down. Secondly, his back legs will not work properly due to either an old injury or even a birth defect, acc to his vet. He has adjusted to his issues and gets around pretty well though. He's a very nice and happy dog, somewhere between 6 and 8 years old. He is heartworm negative, very interested in cats, though at this point we can't tell if he really likes them or it's something else. Please see his video and more pictures at Downriver Central Animal Control facebook page (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-27-00495Janice - IN TRAINING (female)
I'm a 2 year old Boxer mix named Janice, and I really like it when someone pets me. I enjoy meeting all sorts of people and I'm ready to find my forever home. I know my basic commands very well and can perform them so well that my trainers have taught me how to do some tricks: High-Five, Wave Bye-Bye, Take a Bow, Peek a Boo, Wait Until I Count to Three, and Say Your Prayers. These tricks are a fun way for me to stay engaged with my trainers and my new owners once I'm adopted. I'm eager to perform them for a tasty kibble or treat reward. I enjoy having my coat groomed and am well behaved when my teeth are brushed and my nails are clipped. My lucky adopter will receive an operator's manual so we can continue to enjoy and practice the great training I have been receiving. I can't wait to meet my new family on November 7th when I will be paroled from the RPSM Correctional Training Program. Please submit your adoption application today. I'm spayed and UTD on all my vaccines, HW, and FT. RPSM recommends children 6 years and older. I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Knows basic commands & some tricks. Very good with kids & other animals. Currently my foster dog. Does have minor skin issues like most bully breeds (dry skin, etc) but easily treatable. Very laid back, go with the flow type of dog but also loves to play and get active. Amazing in the car! Perfect for first time dog owner.

Rescue Me ID: 13-07-26-00337Calvin (male)
Calvin is a sweet and friendly young dog. He is energetic and eager to please. Calvin is a bright boy who already knows 'sit' and 'stay.' With the right family, Calvin will grow into an awesome dog. An experienced bully breed owner and obedience training would be the ideal fit for this active boy who is still learning proper dog etiquette. Families with young children would not be the best fit for Calvin. Stop by and visit with this charming pup.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Michigan
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
