Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sadie came in with her sister Roxie. She is a little bigger than Roxie and I believe more of the dominant one. She that's the toys and the food and bullies Roxie. Sadie is a very sweet girl but we would use caution with her if you are going to have her with another dog she can bully. She would probably do best as an only fur kid. She does great with large dogs, until it comes to 'her things' then she gets stingy and doesn't want to share. She loves her humans and will follow you everywhere.     Roxie is a beautiful brindle boxer. Her and her sister both came into rescue at the same time. They were also part of a breeder surrender. Roxie is very sweet and took to a squeak ball right away. I don't believe she had ever had a toy before in her life. She carried it withe her most of the day her first day in rescue. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We posted this guy about a month ago and have since received a lot of attention. Sadly nothing perfect has come his way. He went into a home temporarily, but we quickly learned that he is lonely and depressed without a second dog in the home. We learn from our mistakes and are now requiring Toby to have a playful dog buddy who likes to romp and wrestle. Toby is a boxer/lab mix who is another pup on the long list of unclaimed strays. He is probably around 9 months old this days and full of fun puppy antics. We don't think this guy is going to get that big although his paws are still disproportionately huge. He currently weighs about 35 ... (Read More)pounds. Toby is in a foster home with a cat and other dogs. He really loves canine companionship and plays well with all dogs, but is best with dogs more his size. Toby is also awesome with children of all ages. He is learning basic commands and leash manners. He is catching on pretty quickly and loves the attention that comes from training. Toby is now neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. He is housebroken and very quiet in his crate. The first step is to complete the adoption application in the link below. Please be sure to include on the application any questions you have. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. The adoption fee is $175. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.html (Less)

Meet Roxie. She is a super cute and super spunky 2.5-year-old boxer. She was found as stray, but no one claimed her. The finder wanted to help Roxie, took her to the vet, and received the news that Roxie is heartworm positive. We reached out and offered to help because, as a rescue, we have more resources than the average person and we know what a huge expense the treatment is. Roxie is very sweet, very friendly, and very bouncy. In other words, she is a typical boxer. She loves other dogs, but shouldn't be around cats. She isn't aggressive, but definitely wants to chase. We recommend her being around older kids because of her desire to ... (Read More)jump and because of the treatment that will be going through. Here is a little info about Roxie's treatment. She will have a couple of visits to receive her shots and to make sure the worms are gone. She is not 'sick' in the way many people might think. She acts normal and looks normal because she is in the very early stages. She will require a lot of leash walks and crate rest during the treatment. We have some tools and suggestions for helping her through the boring crate life which will keep her mind active when her body shouldn't be. Keep in mind that heartworms are transmitted through mosquito bites. If the animals in the home are on heartworm preventatives, there is no risk. Now let us clarify a foster-to-adopt home because we get asked quite a often. We only officially adopt out dogs who are fully vetted. If the dog is not yet vetted, we need a place for the dog to go while we take care of whatever needs to be taken care of. The foster home is asked to work with us to get the dog to vet appointments. Of course we pay for the vet bills. After the vetting is complete, the foster becomes the adopter. If you would like to help us help Roxie please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. If you have any questions, please find us on Facebook or email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com. Roxy's adoption fee is $175. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Indiana
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
