Rescue Me ID: 17-12-10-00106Gus (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Let me introduce a very handsome boy by the name of Augustus. Gus is plott hound with possibly some boxer mixed in. He is 65 pounds and around 2 years old. He is a real sweetheart. He is well behaved, knows basic commands of sit, stay, shake, lay down and no. He is not food aggressive, will not approach his food bowl or food at all until released to do so. He does not come in the house unless invited. He is crate trained, but sometimes is allowed to sleep inside on his bed by the fireplace. He really enjoys kids and gets on well with cats, dogs and has no fear of and seems to be used to being around horses. Chickens however are at ... (Read More)risk, though I'm sure he could be trained to leave them alone. He is very intelligent and likes working with me on tricks. Within one day he was jumping through a hoop, jumping over devised obstacles and catching balls in the air. His one drawback is that he LOVES to run and run with his nose to the ground. It's his nature. It breaks my heart to post this because he is a pleasure. But, I do not have space required for him to get the amount of daily exercise he needs and I'm too old to walk/run him enough on a leash. If anyone is interested in adopting this wonderful dog please contact me. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-09-00206Carlie (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi everyone! My name is Carlie! I am just about to be 2 years old, am spayed, and I'm looking for a specific kind of home. I hope it is with you! Let me tell you about myself... I have been at Michiana before and have been brought back due to having a hard time when my people aren't around me. I am a very high energy girl with a great temperament towards people. However, I will do best in a home where my owners are around most of the time. Having another dog in the home may be helpful to me, too! I love going to dog parks and playing with other dogs, but I do have challenges when I am on leash. I come on strong and my friends here say ... (Read More)that the leash causes me anxiety when meeting other dogs. Once I am off-leash, being around my fellow pup friends is a complete blast! My previous owners worked very hard to teach my how to walk nicely on a leash and I am doing wonderful at it. I still need some help on learning how to act when I see other dogs. I really want to play with them, but it doesn't come off that way. Will you take time to teach me? Running is one of my most favorite things. I'm a fast girl! If you like to run, too, we could be buddies! A fenced-in yard would be best for me. I have been known to escape before so keeping me safe in a backyard to get exercise daily would be ideal for me. I am a very snuggly and cuddly girl inside the home. I love belly-rubs and really like to sit next to you on the couch or keep you warm in bed at night. I do have some quirks but I hope you give me the chance to show you what a great girl I can be. Love, Carlie. (Less)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Balboa is my 4 year old Boxer who I am sad to say I cannot support anymore. He is very lovable, has a great personality, and is great with kids. He can be very high strung at times, but also enjoys his plentiful naps. He is commented on how beautiful he is all the time, and makes a great security system. Balboa does have a sensitive stomach, so Purina Sensitive Stomach brand is recommended.

Please visit www.michianahumanesociety.org/how-to-adopt for adoption policies and procedures. Hi, my name is Bear! I am a charming one and a half year old neutered boxer/hound mix. I'm a medium-sized guy. I don't weigh much more than 50 pounds or so! I'm looking for my forever home. I've heard that people looking to adopt a dog like when we know how to sit, lay down, stay, and walk nicely on leashes. I've also heard that it helps if we are house-trained! Well, guess what! I am an expert at all of those things! I have made some doggie friends with other pooches that are friendly towards me! Playing and bouncing around with each other is ... (Read More)great! I've seen a few kitties in my time, and as cute as they are, I'd prefer to have a home with no felines. I've met several kiddos and I've done well with most of them! The ones I have met have been older, maybe 10 or so. I may do well with younger children, I'd like to meet them first to see! Sometimes my human friends here at the shelter and I talk about how great it would be to find a family that I can love and who will love me. That would be such a dream come true! Are you willing to take a chance on me? I'll make you so happy, I promise! Love, Bear. (Less)

Cowbell is a young boxer mix about 2.5 years old. She is high energy and will need someone who is well experienced with training. Because of her energy level I would not recommend being around young children. I would suggest starting her as a single dog in a home. She has dominance issues with the senior dog of the current household. She is fixed with no known health issues, she is due to be updated on her vaccinations however. Bigg's owner fell ill and no other family could take him in, that is how Bigg ended up in the shelter. Bigg is a senior boy and we couldn't say no to rescuing him. We were told Bigg was around 13, but our vet estimates him to be no older than 9. We were also told he is a boxer/bulldog mix. He had a recent vet visit and other than some arthritis he is in perfect health! Bigg is sweet and gentle and very easy going. He gets along with dogs, cats and so far everyone he has met. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. If the ad is still viewable, we are still accepting applications. The adoption fee is $75. Meet Snickers. This adorable brindle girl is a 2-year-old mixed breed baby. Although everyone wants to jump to label bully mixed dogs as pits--we were told by the previous owner that she was--Snickers seems to be something else. She is a slender build 40-pound girl with lanky legs. Perhaps she has some boxer in her, but we just don't know. One thing we are certain of, Snickers is a super duper sweetheart! Snickers seems ... (Read More)to love all people. She is silly, playful, and totally cuddly; she is also quite kissable. We think kids who don't mind a girl who can get bouncy when extra excited would be a good fit for her. So far, we have not seen Snickers show any fondness for other animals. We will gradually introduce to other dogs and see if we can find a size or gender preference. At this point we think she should be the only pet. Snickers would love a home that will give her plenty of attention. She is a bit of a velcro buddy ad really likes to be with her people. She doesn't have a large repertoire of tricks, but she listens well and likes to be rewarded for good behavior. Snickers is look for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where she can trade a cozy bed for the kennel. Snickers will be spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Rescue Me ID: 17-08-17-00176Lady (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Miss Lady Bug! Lady is Boston Terrier/Boxer mix and roughly 7 years old. Lady was pulled from Indianapolis Animal Care Services. Lady was a rescue only due to her age and the condition of her left eye and she was shutting down in the shelter environment. Lady was estimated by IACS to be 9 years old, but our vet believes she is more around 7 years. It is very clear that Lady was used as a breeding machine most of her life. And although she was an owner surrender due to a move, we feel it was because they had no more use for her. Lady's teeth were in horrible condition, our vet called it 'cage biting' from either chewing on a crate or ... (Read More)metal fence. She has signs of being chained up and was either kept outdoors in the elements or in a damp basement. Her left eye has a scarred cornea from an old injury and will likely go blind in that eye at some point. She does need eye drops and ointment daily for her eye, but she does well with getting it each day. Due to her over breeding Lady also has some leakage issues and has to be on a supplement to help prevent this. Neither the eye drops or supplement are costly and we hope this does not deter anyone from this sweet girl. Lady had some noncancerous mammary tumors removed and was spayed after arriving to AHS. Despite all she has been through, Lady is seriously a sweetheart and has so much love to give. She can be unsure of new people, but is quickly won over with a treat. Lady loves to run in the yard and strategize how she will catch a squirrel. She loves to sunbathe and LOVES playing with her Kong Wubba. She has the cutest little ears that flop while she runs through the yard. All Lady wants is a soft bed to lay on and be with you. She on occasion likes her space and does find her crate as a safe zone when she needs alone time or time to decompress. Lady would make a wonderful pet to first time dog owners. Lady is house and crate trained. Lady does well with children and spent some time in a foster home with a rambunctious 2 year old and did awesome. She would do okay with another dog (she likes to be boss), but she is A Okay being the only pet. Sadly she never really learned to be a dog so she is unsure on how to play with others She did well with the cats while at the sanctuary, but was pretty interested in the cats at her foster home. If you have a scaredy cat, she may chase it. If you have cat that will stand up for itself, then you should be fine. Lady does well on a leash and loves to go for walks. Lady has a beautiful personality and deserves a forever home where she knows she is loved and safe. Can you give this to her? Interested in Lady? Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Faith is a goofy, happy and very playful boxer mix who loves to smile. She is good with non-challenging dogs, cats, and would do best with older children (8 and up). Faith is active and very much Boxer like, she is very smart but can be bull headed. Faith loves playing fetch and is good off leash. Faith is a strong girl! She enjoys long walks, and is very food motivated. Faith also calms down easily and loves nothing more than to cuddle. Did we mention she has a sweet smile? Faith had a rough start in life before arriving to AHS. Because of that past she can be defensive with other dogs. If she is challenged she will get defensive. She ... (Read More)could do well in a home with other dogs, with a slow introduction and if those dogs won't challenge her. Faith would also do well as the only dog. She loves human companionship. Faith arrived to AHS with a severe skin disease. She's been treated and fully healed. All Faith wants now is a loving forever home. Could you provide the happily ever after that Faith is looking for? Faith is house and crate. Interested In Faith? Please complete an adoption form from our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org and email to AHSAdopt@gmail.com.     Meet Anna! Anna is a young girl and believed to be a boxer mix. Anna had a sad start in life. As a puppy she was being promoted as a bait dog. Thankfully we found her and rescued her before she could be sold into that world. Despite her beginning in life Anna is as sweet as they come. She absolutely loves being with her people and loves them deeply. She is the definition of a snuggler! Anna can be very playful and does a great job entertaining herself with toys. She also settles easily and makes a great Netflix and chill pal. Anna either needs to be the only pet in the home. Anna doesn't mind being the only dog as she simply wants to just ... (Read More)be with her people and doesn't really care to be around other animals. She becomes your shadow and just hangs out wherever you are. Anna becomes defensive when other dogs challenge her and sadly she does not know how to play properly. She will not be a dog that would enjoy puppy play dates. Anna does well with older children at the sanctuary. Anna is house and crate trained and up to date. Anna needs a breed experienced owner and will need some continued training with her new family. (She is still a counter surfer which we are working on). No cats or other pets for this girl. Anna just wants a home where she can love and be loved. Where someone will accept her fully and give her the love and comfort she deserves. Interested In Anna? Please complete an adoption form from our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org and email to AHSAdopt@gmail.com. Questions/Inquiries can be directed to Cindy at 609-992-6649. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Indiana
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
