Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Zoey is a 3-4 year old Boxer. She is an affectionate girl and will let you scratch her back as long as you'd like! She also gives wonderful kisses! She knows how to sit and is learning how to lay down. She takes treats very politely! Zoey walks nicely on a leash but will need her future owner to continue to work with her on not jumping - she gets very excited sometimes and can't contain it! For that reason, a home with older children would be better for Zoey. She used to live with other dogs, but since coming to the shelter she has shown dog aggression. She may be able to be re-introduced in a home environment to a resident dog. Zoey met a ... (Read More)few cats at the shelter and did okay! However, she would most likely do best in a home where the resident cat is used to dogs. She can be on the skittish side when meeting new people but once she knows you she warms up quickly. She gives great kisses and loves to try and give hugs. She does jump, but corrects easily and really only jumps when she is super excited. Zoey loves to lean into you for cuddles, she is so loveable! Her sunshiney-bright personality is contagious, she is such a great girl. (Less)

Bravo is a 1 year old neutered pittie/boxer mix. He is an energetic and playful boy who does good with most other dogs! Bravo loves to run and play so he would love any other dog in the home to want to play, too! Bravo is very treat motivated. He's a smart boy and knows how to sit. It would be beneficial for Bravo to have an owner that will continue to teach him polite manners. A home with older children would be best for Bravo.     Elroy is my name and here is my story. I was found by a farmer tied to a tree with an electrical cord out in the middle of nowhere. Can you imagine someone doing such a thing to any animal? I have only been at this shelter for a short time so not much is known about me but, despite my treatment, I seem to be a very docile and gentle dog who is very photogenic. Just look at my photo! I am in need of someone who can adopt me and begin my heartworm treatments so I can get well and begin a new and better life.

Hugo is a beautiful male dog who has been raised in a loving home from 7 weeks old. He was originally adopted from the Owen Co Humane Society. He is very vocal and needs room to roam. He is a very gentle, loves all people and animals and just wants to be loved. He loves toys. He is nervous and excitable but once he settles down he does extremely well indoors. He'd make a good guard dog or maybe even a search dog. His nose leads him for sure. He is 100lbs and likely done growing. We're working on leash walking right now, but he knows all basic commands and is house trained. Current on all veterinary care.

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

We are looking to re-home our dog Bentley. She is a good girl. She knows basic commands such as sit, stay, down, up, shake, and back. She is crate trained (even though it just serves as her bed now). She is also housebroken and is essentially an inside dog who enjoys playing outside from time to time. She doesn't chew and she leaves the trash alone. She also knows to not take food from the table and counters! We have had her since she was a puppy and love her dearly and don't want to part with her, but she has some anxiety and does not do well with children under 8. We have a daughter of our own now and Bentley has not adjusted ... (Read More)well, even with training. Storms, car rides, and new people/places also contribute to her anxiety. Her anxiety causes her to be timid and afraid. She does do well with older children who know to give her some space. Once she trusts you, her anxiety dissipates and she is a great companion. Bentley would make a great companion to someone without younger children. She is calm and walks well on a leash. She has a lot on energy, but disperses it outside when she plays. We would prefer that she find a home where she will continue to be spoiled and loved. Serious inquires only please. (Less)

Tyson was flea infested, had scabs all over his back end, and paws were raw and red. He also had dry eyes.. We got him to the vet, got him started on antibiotics, tear drops, and a medicated shampoo.. He has healed nicely. Tyson's owner did contact us after he was released from jail, once he found out that Tyson had been neutered he no longer wanted him.. Tyson was a breeding dog to him. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Cuda. He is a 5-year-old boxer/lab mix who needs a new forever home. He and his brother have been having scuffles lately and it has started to become more intense and more frequent as time has gone on. We cannot blame Cuda or his brother. They are two male dogs who, until very recently, were both intact. The decision was made that the pup who came last has to go. That is Cuda. When we first met Cuda, he was very nervous being in a strange environment around a lot of new people and doggy smells. As time went on, he loosened up and showed what a sweetheart he is. We do think he should be an only dog because of the situation with his ... (Read More)brother. We'll err on the side of cautious. Cuda has never lived with cats, but does want to chase the ones he sees outside along with rabbits and squirrels. Cuda has been around children of all ages and enjoys their company. We would like to see Cuda go to an active home where he can take walks or go on hikes; he is used to that. He would do best in a fenced yard because he loves to run. Cuda is very trustworthy in the home. He is currently restricted to one room when left unsupervised, but he could adjust to a crated lifestyle too. He is also solidly housebroken. Cuda is now neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. If you would like to offer Cuda a forever home please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Indiana
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
