Rescue Me ID: 17-08-17-00176Lady Bug (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Miss Lady Bug! Lady is Boston Terrier/Boxer mix and roughly 7 years old. Lady was pulled from Indianapolis Animal Care Services. Lady was a rescue only due to her age and the condition of her left eye and she was shutting down in the shelter environment. Lady was estimated by IACS to be 9 years old, but our vet believes she is more around 7 years. It is very clear that Lady was used as a breeding machine most of her life. And although she was an owner surrender due to a move, we feel it was because they had no more use for her. Lady's teeth were in horrible condition, our vet calling it 'cage biting' from either chewing on a crate or ... (Read More)metal fence. She has signs of being chained up and was either kept outdoors in the elements or in a damp basement. Her left eye has a scarred cornea and will likely go blind in that eye at some point. She does need eye drops and ointment daily for her eye, but she does well with getting it each day. Despite all she has been through, Lady is seriously a sweetheart and has so much love to give. She can be unsure of new people, but is quickly won over with a treat. Lady loves to run in the yard and strategize how she will catch a squirrel. She loves to sunbathe and LOVES playing with her Kong Wubba. She has the cutest little ears that flop while she runs through the yard. All Lady wants is a soft bed to lay on and be with you. She on occasion likes her space and does find her crate as a safe zone when she needs alone time or time to decompress. Lady is house and crate trained. She does well with dogs and children (foster home has a rambunctious 2.5 year old). She did well with the cats while at the sanctuary, but was pretty interested in the cats at her foster home. If you have a scaredy cat, she may chase it. If you have cat that will stand up for itself, then you should be fine. Lady does well on a leash and loves to go for walks. Lady has a beautiful personality and deserves a forever home where she knows she is loved and safe. Interested in Lady? Rescue Me ID: 17-08-14-00137Tito (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Tito. Tito is a pug, boxer, shepherd mix believed to be around 2 to 3 years old. Tito was at the Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) in need of rescue and we couldn't resist. We were told that Tito had previously been with a family who 'didn't have time for him', we were also told that the father was not so nice to Tito. Because of that we see him holding back with us at the sanctuary. We can see he wants to love us, but is holding back probably in fear of getting hurt. We have seen zero aggression from Tito and have even tried pushing him to his limits, he just backs away. Despite his not so great beginning, Tito is a very mellow ... (Read More)fellow and easy going. He has an old soul feeling to him, but still gets playful but not hyper. He does great with smaller dogs and would love a smaller dog sibling to play with. He is terrified of larger dogs, so slow introductions is a must. He lived in a home with 4 children. He seems fine with cats so far, no red flags in that area. He is house and crate trained and walks well on a leash. We would love Tito to find a forever home with older children wanting to play and interact with him. A calm, small doggy brother or sister to play with. His forever family needs to be willing to work with Tito to build a strong, trusting bond. We can see this boy has so much love to give, he just needs to know you are not going to hurt or betray him. Tito needs someone willing to give him the time he needs to build trust, but we are certain once you have it you won't be disappointed. Could you give Tito the life he deserves and show him unconditional love? Interested in Tito? Please complete an adoption form from our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org and email to AHSAdopt@gmail.com. Questions/Inquiries can be directed to Cindy at 609-992-6649. (Less)

My name is Carlie! I am a very happy-go-lucky girl and love meeting people! I'm about 1-2 years old, am spayed, and am a beagle/boxer/hound mix. Playing and running are among my favorite things to do! I'm constantly being told that I'm such a 'good girl'! I try hard to be well behaved! I'm a younger lady and have some energy. I'd really make a great companion for a runner. Do you like running? I'd do awesome next to you! Regarding other dogs, I like to play and have done best around other dogs who also like to play but are mostly submissive. I'd prefer for any dogs in my new home to be about medium sized and larger. I give nice kisses ... (Read More)and sit politely for treats. I am a gentle girl and am quite affectionate - I can't help it! I just love to show how much I love people! I love treats and squeaky toys. I would prefer any children in my forever home to be over 12 years old. I can't wait to be a forever dog and am so excited to be able to love my future family! Faith is active and very much Boxer like, she is very smart but can be bull headed. Faith loves playing fetch and is good off leash. Faith is a strong girl!     Meet Anna! Anna had a rough start in life. She was being raised and promoted as a bait dog and thank goodness she was rescued! Anna is an older pup with so much love to share, she is the definition of sweetheart. She is a pitbull/boxer/lab mix (best guess). Anna can be very playful but can also settle down quickly for a nice snuggle and Netflix binge. She loves her humans deeply! Anna needs to be an only dog with supervised play dates in a well controlled environment with an experienced handler. At no fault of her own Anna goes from hardcore play to becoming defensive and that alone can cause panic and a fight to happen. Although we do not ... (Read More)know what exactly triggers it and why it happens. It is best she goes to a home as an only pet. Anna thrives on structure, discipline and routine. Anna returned to the sanctuary on 5/2/16 and has supervised controlled play sessions with many dogs and is doing well. She has had no issues since her return. After some down time she has been slowly introduced to a hand full of dogs and began a basic obedience course. She has seen our vet, we have consulted with a canine behavior specialist both feel she can be adopted out to the right home. Anna does well with older children at the sanctuary with no issues. Anna is house and crate trained and up to date. Continued training is required and an experience bully breed owner is a must. Anna just needs someone willing to give her the time and energy to thrive. You won't be disappointed. Interested In Anna? PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Indiana
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

Boxer
lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
