Rescue Me ID: 15-03-30-00548Ozzie (male)
Ozzie may look serious, but he is an absolute 100% goofball. Seriously, he is one of the funniest, silliest, and most entertaining dogs you'll ever meet! He's very playful and outgoing, truly a unique guy in both appearance and personality. He's a 3-year-old Boxer mix, and he is said to be good with kids and other dogs. He loves toys, and his previous family said that he is housebroken, crate-trained, and accustomed to being an indoor pup. Stop by SCAC to meet this gorgeous guy! - (217) 535-3065

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00225POLLY (female)
'I'd like to introduce to you our newest foster pup, 5 month old Polly! She is a snuggle bug and has lots of love to give! She has already had a rough start in life but will make a super sweet addition to any family!' She has been around kids, cats, and other dogs and have done wonderfully. We really don't know what breed she might be, considering her and her brother have completely different coats, his looking like a wire haired terrier. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies. Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a 'teen' or adult dog. Standard adoption fee is $295 (cash or check) and includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, up-to-date on shots, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family in order to approve an adoption. Please email Kathy for an application at email@example.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-20-00572Petey (male)
Pete is a very friendly, sweet, playful and lovable three-year-old, 64-pound, male, black and white Boxer/American Bulldog-mix with warm brown eyes looking for a loving guardian. Pete is great with people of all ages. He's relaxed and not at all hyper or jumpy. He's wonderful in the home and leans against you lovingly. He is a homebody who loves being with his people. He loves a fenced-in yard, enjoys playing with his toys and is perfectly housebroken. Pete is extremely responsive to his people. He is well-trained and knows the commands sit and stay. His favorite treats are bananas and apples; his foster family likes to keep him healthy and he is very food-motivated. Currently being fostered in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood, Pete is just not a city guy. He is reactive on leash and nervous in the city. He'd rather have a yard of his own to run and play in and a more suburban neighborhood without all the noise and congestion. He is living in a foster home with another large dog. He is best with male dogs - especially labs and bully breeds who don't mind his rough manner of play. Pete has a strong prey drive so he's best in a home without cats, rabbits or other small pets. Pete is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, heartworm-tested and micro-chipped. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Animal Care and Control. To meet and possibly adopt Pete, please contact Kat at firstname.lastname@example.org or if you have questions for his current foster mom, please contact Ania at 312-730-6687. (Less)

Animal ID: 2643Bailey (female)
Bailey is a 2 year old American Fox Hound/Boxer mix. She was dna tested with proof of this exciting identity. Bailey is around 60lbs and is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed. She is very athletic and loves to stay active throughout the day. If given a simple toy Bailey will entertain you with her goofy antics and amusing behavior. She loves to go on walks and let her 'hound' show by tracking anything that has left a scent. She has had extensive basic command training and isn't afraid to show off. She has good leash manners, but she could be better about not pulling. Her foster mom is giving her lots of time and love to make sure Bailey can be the best at everything she does. She is crate and potty trained. When the day is done Bailey is a cuddle bug. She will climb into your lap if given the chance and nuzzle next to you. She gives soft kisses and hugs. She has camping experience, and would do great with a home that stays active throughout the year to keep her mind and body healthy. Bailey is the all American dog, a happy-go-lucky pup. She adapts well to her surroundings whatever they may be. She has a great smile and is sure to share her happiness with everyone she meets. She is great with other dogs and loves her foster sister Addie, a beagle mix, who she spends most of her time playing with. Her puppy dog eyes show her true spirit. One that will be loyal, fun, and extremely loving to anyone who gives her a chance. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-11-00405Stella (female)
Stella is a beautiful and friendly 2 year old dog and she is very loving and playful. She is in need of a new home, preferably with no other pets. Stella gets along well with other dogs at the dog park, but she prefers to be the only dog in the home. Stella gets along with my Min Pin but she is not getting along with my Boxer/Chesapeake mix as they are both protective of me. She is current with all vaccinations and will come with a complete medical history. There are no medical issues at this time. Stella successfully completed a 6 session training course on manners through Banfield. She is truly amazing however the current situation between she and my other dog is not a healthy one. Currently, I keep the dogs separated within the home when I am there. Needless to say, one dog is always unhappy...I need a permanent home or a foster home for Stella as soon as possible!!! I will provide the necessities (leashes, collars, bed, toys, etc.) Please call if you are interested or if you have any questions...Renee 630 290 1492 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-03-00672Nena (female)
Very loving and smart girl can sense more than most dogs and would do great with autistic child or someone with PTSD. Wonderful little girl can run like the wind but loves to cuddle and is not as hyper as other boxers. Looking for a home with another dog and or someone home most of the day. Must have fenced yard as she is deaf. My girlfriend has been diagnosed with fibromyalga on top of her going thru long-term physical therapy for a serious back injury. I am having a hard time keeping everything up with work and know she would be best in another home. Please only call if you are serious about adopting her we just drove all the way to meet a family who never answered the phone when we got there. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-09-00388Chloe (female)
Well, hello there! My name is Chloe and I was born in Kentucky. I am a 10 month old, 60lb, boxer mix girl and I love exploring and learning new things so much! I have lots and lots of extra energy to spend - so come outside with me for a nice long run in the yard or let's go for a long walk around the block. I am still learning how to become a good walker, but I promise you - I will be a star sooner or later as I am a very smart girl! I live in the house with my friend Butch (boxer mix, 2 year old) and we love to play outside for many hours! We both have toys and have a chase game each day in the snow. I am not a big fan of the cold weather and I can't wait for the warm Spring days to come - then we can go for a nice car ride to the nearest dog park. I am very protective of the house/yard - I will accept your friends with love and respect, however I will alert you about the strangers approaching your house or any intruders! I am totally house broken, up to date on all the vaccine shots, spayed and 100% healthy girl. I love to play with my Kong toys, rawhide bones are delicious! I was rescued by the amazing volunteers at the Ruff Start Dog Rescue-IL and I'm now in a loving foster home waiting for my forever family to find me. Please come soon... I can't wait to meet you! Because of Chloe's super active lifestyle, her forever home must have a fenced in yard and have no children under the age of 10 years old. If you are interested in adopting this sweet, sweet girl - complete our online application today using the link below so that my foster parents can bring me to meet you! |Rescue Me ID: 14-10-25-00371Chata (female)|
Chata is a sweet, smart, and cuddly 12-year-old, 46-pound, brindle and white female Bulldog/Boxer-Mix a looking for a loving foster home or a permanent guardian. Chata loves people of all ages including children. She loves her ears rubbed and her tail is happily wagging all the time. She loves to go for walks and is happy with a yard as well. She loves hanging out with her family on the couch and playing with her squeaky toys. She is fine as the only dog, but she also loves other mellow dogs who are her size or smaller - not larger dogs and not cats. Chata is perfectly crate-trained and housebroken if taken out on a regular frequent basis. She is trained to sit for treats. She loves treats and will do anything for them - including smiling. Dropped off at Chicago Animal Care and Control, Chata had lived with a family with three small children. They were moving and couldn't take her with. If not for LuLu's Locker Room Rescue, she would have been euthanized that night. Chata is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested and micro-chipped. To meet and possibly adopt her, please contact her foster dad Martin at email@example.com at 773-220-5924. She comes complete with a complimentary training session. She is being fostered in Chicago's West Rogers Park neighborhood. (Less)

Greta was rescued from CACC because her time was up due to ear infections. Lucky us to get a hold of this awesome sweetheart! She is a happy, happy girl with endless enthusiasm for life! EVERYBODY who meets her raves about her!! She's medium energy and gets along great with smaller dogs. She was afraid of dogs her size when she was near them in the shelter, but may do fine outside of the shelter situation. Somebody is going to be super fortunate to give this girl a forever home.

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-22-00124Liberty (female)
Meet adoptable Liberty (being called Ingrid in her foster home)! Liberty is a gorgeous, 1.5 year old white Boxer that is a total doll. She absolutely loves people and is super smart. Liberty is deaf, but she has great eye contact and really strives to please. She has just completed a month long training course to learn her commands in sign language and help give her the skills needed to succeed. She is fully vetted, uptd on vaccinations and has received a full dental with extractions. Liberty prefers the company of people over other dogs and was picked on by the furry companions in her previous home so she would do best in an only dog home. Due to her size, we think she would do best with older children. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Illinois
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
