Now that the baby is walking Luke has started to get a little crabby. He has become very possessive of his toys and doesn't like the baby around them. I am pretty sure he is just jealous but we don't really want to take a chance. He can handle commands such as sit and down. He is a good dog but not very socialized.     Hello, I am in immediate need of a safe place to relinquish custody of a very loving 2 yr old male Pit/boxer mix. We adopted him about 5months ago and he has severe separation anxiety. He is wonderful when we are home, but as soon as we go to work, he destroys our home and the things in it. He really needs to be in a home where there is someone home all day. Other than that, he is obedient with commands, is a big love and enjoys playing. His favorite treat is frozen broccoli! He does have an issue with jumping on us out of excitement when we come home, but we just can't afford having him destroy everything when we go to work. Is there ... (Read More)anything you can do? I have been told that if we bring him back to the shelter he will be put down.     Welcome back to ACL, Coco! Coco is a pretty, friendly goofball of a Boxer mix who was adopted from ACL as a puppy in 2013. She was recently returned due to no fault of her own - things were changing in her family, and she wasn't able to stay. We're happy to report that the years have been kind to Coco - she's an easygoing, playful dog who loves going for runs, playing in the sun, and settling in for a cuddle when they sun sets. Coco is a loyal girl who bonds well with humans - she's never met a person she doesn't like! She's good with other dogs when the chemistry is right, but we can't say how she'd do with cats. At 4 years old, Coco is ... (Read More)still a pretty active girl, so she'd appreciate a home that wants to exercise with her. She's smart, too, so a training class would definitely be fun! Coco barks a lot in her kennel, but if you get her outside, she immediately shows you what a great lady she is. This girl deserves a forever home that truly is forever - is it yours? (Less)

Feena is a bouncy, strong, happy and extremely affectionate, eight-year-old, 64-pound, purebred female fawn and white Boxer with a cropped tail and natural ears looking for a loving guardian. Feena loves all people and gives tons of slobbery kisses and butt wiggles. She loves going on walks and car rides, and while she's lived with other dogs, I think she'd do best as the only dog in the home. Feena is crate-trained and housebroken if kept on frequent schedule. Feena loves fast walks, but is not a runner, and not a fetcher. She'll just stare at you if you throw a ball. However, if you throw a treat '| that's another story altogether. ...     Austin is a handsome, sweet, loving and playful 57-pound, seven-month-old, male brindle and white Pit Bull/Boxer-mix puppy looking for a loving guardian. After being rescued from Chicago Animal Care and Control as a mangy puppy, Austin moved to a foster home with a female dog. He gets along just fine with her but he does play in a rowdy manner more appropriate for an equally rough-playing young dog. If you sit on the floor, this boy loves to sit in in your lap for snuggles, kisses and tail wags. He is a super mushy snuggler who loves people of all ages. And if you're standing, he'll lean against your legs lovingly while staring up at you ... (Read More)with his warm brown eyes. Austin is crate-trained and still working on his housebreaking. He knows the commands sit and down and takes treats incredibly gently from your fingers. He is looking for a patient dog-lover willing to give him the daily exercise and training all young dogs deserve. This nice dog is extremely healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control.     Clyde is a 6 year old Bulldog/ Boxer mix. He currently weighs 73lbs, is neutered, microchipped and uptd with his vaccinations. He loves people and gets along best with cats and small dogs. He has been raised with children who are respectful of dogs all of his life. He will cuddle in bed or be a lapdog if you allow him to. Due to a family break up and financial reasons, his family will have to move in with a friend. It was discovered that the dogs do not get along. Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Cancer

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Daisy is a happy, active and extremely friendly, eight-year-old, 40-pound, female Beagle / Basset Hound-mix. This girl loves to go on walks and car rides, knows the command sit, is housebroken when kept on schedule, and crate-trained. She gets along with other dogs and people of all ages. She's active and fun; Daisy loves to chase a ball, but she won't always retrieve. She's nervous at first when she meets new people - especially men. But, she warms up quickly especially with ... (Read More)women and gives tons and tons of slobbery kisses. Feena loves her walks and car rides, and gets along with other dogs after an introductory walk around the block together. Feena is perfectly housebroken and crate-trained. These girls have lived their entire lives together and love each other even though they are quite the odd couple. When you feed them, they switch bowls in the middle and complete each other's meal '| it's really cute. When Feena was younger, she hurt her right rear knee. She uses that leg just fine but it has a lot of scar tissue, so she limps and her muscle is a little atrophied. She doesn't need any additional treatment at this point beyond glucosamine chondroitin supplements. Daisy was adopted as a puppy from a local shelter, but her family never spayed her. So, she will have that surgery very soon along with breast cancer surgery. Daisy and Feena were dropped off at Chicago Animal Care and Control by their family when they could no longer keep them. They were taken in by Famous Fido Rescue. I met them during a photo shoot at the shelter and brought them home as my fosters, so I have gotten to know and love these girls. They need a home of their own, preferably together. To meet and possibly foster/adopt Daisy and Feena, please contact Sheri directly at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891.     Champ is a magnificently muscular, glossy, cuddly and well-trained, three-year-old, 63-pound, male black and white Boxer/Pit Bull Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. Champ is friendly and full of kisses and tail wags for his humans. He is however selective about his dog friends, and he's not good with cats or other small animals. He is perfectly housebroken, crate-trained and non-destructive in the home. His foster mom doesn't even crate him at all. Champ is a true athlete and would make an excellent running partner. He is not much of an apartment dog. He would love a fenced in yard to run and play in. He is beauty in motion. He loves his toys a little too much so he's best with indestructible dog toys. Champ grew up with a man who ran a rescue boat in the Fort Meyers area of Florida. He is a fabulous companion on the boat but his dad now is destined to be a sea captain and Champ is not allowed to come. Champ is extremely healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm and fecal-tested and micro-chipped. His adoption fee of $75 benefits rescued pets. PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Illinois
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Illinois Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States.
