Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Scout is a tall and lanky, extremely sweet and gentle, 11-month-old, 53-pound, tan and white Collie/Boxer/Shepherd-mix with gorgeous warm brown eyes looking for a loving guardian. This sweet boy looks right into your eyes and heart. He came from a home where he lived with another dog, a cat and a four-year-old boy. The family was in turmoil and had to let go of their latest canine acquisition. Scout is perfectly housebroken. He is typically well-behaved in the home and loves to cuddle up in a soft bed. He loves going on walks, always looking up into my eyes for praise and reassurance. He lived in a home with a lot of loud voices and ... (Read More)abuse, so a raised voice or hand makes him nervous. He's a very loving and sensitive guy. Scout is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, fecal and heartworm-tested. He is being fostered in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. To meet and possibly adopt him, please contact sheri@petraits.com for an adoption application. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Scottie is one of our long timers and currently in a foster home with one of our technicians. Here is a message from his foster mom. Please share to help the deserving boy find his forever home! 'My sweet Scottie is hoping for a very special family to call his own this Christmas! He's almost a year old and he really tries to be a good boy! He's house broken, crate trained, and knows his basic commands! This boy is super treat motivated too! Scottie is a home body and doesn't like leaving the house too often, he gets anxiety and new things and people are still stressful and scary for him. He's been in my home for quite a while now and though ... (Read More)we try very hard to take trips outside to the pet store and to doggy play dates, he just wants to be home, and that's ok too. He hated being in the kennel and got too stressed out being around all of the noise so he's been my roommate since he was around 7 months old. Scottie needs a special family that understands his quirks and is patient with him. He loves having other dogs to play with so if you have a dog that doesn't mind having an energetic playmate, that would be wonderful for my sweet boy! He doesn't mind cats too much but can be a little overbearing for them with all of his positive energy and playfulness. Since he's an extra special boy, I'm requiring a home check prior to his adoption, as well as meetings with all members of his potential new home, including any other dogs that may be in the home. He only comes to the clinic on days when he has a special meet and greet scheduled, so be sure to call and set up an appointment if you'd like to meet my cute little man %9D%A4%8F ' Looking for his forever home through: County Line Pet Hospital 3312 Chicago Rd. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-30-00191Lilly (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lilly is a well-behaved, perfectly housebroken and extremely affectionate 8-year-old, 47-pound, gentle, strong, loving and friendly, chubby red and white Boxer-mix looking for a loving guardian. She is such a happy, wonderful girl whose nub of a Boxer tail is always wagging and she actually smiles. Lilly lived with a 78-year-old woman who has gone into hospice care. Sadly, Lilly was never socialized with other dogs or cats, but is absolutely wonderful with people. She even gave me sweet kisses during our photo shoot. She is an expert cuddler! She is accustomed to having someone around more often than not since her mom was home and didn't ... (Read More)go out much except for taking her on her three walks a day. Lilly would make a fabulous family dog - especially if she has a yard to play in. She just LOVES to play ball. She can be reactive on leash when she sees another dog, but that's easy to handle if you cross the street, or turn around. She's easily manageable - especially when you redirect her with treats. But probably not best in a high-rise apartment if you have to share an elevator with other dogs. She knows the command sit and takes treats ever so gently and appreciatively from your fingers. Lilly is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and micro-chipped. To meet and possibly adopt her, please contact sheri@petraits.com for an adoption application. She is currently living in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued pets. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-19-00411Miya (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Miya! German Shepard, Boxer, and a little white Shepard according to her DNA test. DOB 4/22/14 Miya is a very sweet dog that has found herself looking for a new home through no fault of her own. She does well on a leash, and is used to walking in line next to you. She has been going on a couple of long walks per day and sometimes one short one. She's loves to play fetch and run, but she thinks its keep away, so you can use two balls and have her keep dropping the first to get the second one! She loves to play in the yard. She also loves to ride in the car, just tell her: 'UP' and she jumps in. She stays sitting in the car like a little ... (Read More)lady and is very cute! If she is left for extended periods of time, it would be best to crate her. If she is left for short periods, she does fine without a crate if you keep the garbage can covered and slippers out of chewing range. She does enjoy a good chew and should be in a home stocked with antlers, Kong balls, and other sturdy chewing toys. She is somewhat protective of house and family and will bark at door if she hears strangers. She will nudge and lick you to get you to pay attention to her and pet her. That's not a bad thing, unless you are trying to type or drink coffee'|then you need to watch out for the nudges! Other than that, she would love to be in your lap and be pet all day! If you are up and about in your home, she will be your shadow, following you from room to room. She needs to be slowly and gently introduced to someone coming in the house, but then she is fine with them. She will also jump up on people to greet them. She may bark when greeting some dogs and likes to choose her dog friends for herself. Miya is VERY smart and knows: Sit, Stay, Wait, Stop, Come, lay down, and paw. She is good on a leash except at the initial few min when really excited to go out. She has been trained by Barkbusters and has learned to keep behind or beside you when on her leash. If she pulls, tell her 'No' and bring her to your side. She knows that once she is back in position, she will be praised. Miya is on a grain free diet because grains tend to give her dry, itchy skin. She is a very smart, sassy, and beautiful girl that is looking for a family that will love her forever'|is that you?     I am a beautiful, sweet, hyper but high strung dog. I need lots and lots of exercise. I am big and a bit too loving at times. I do NOT LIKE other animals or children. I live with three others now and lately have been showing aggressive behavior toward them. I can not be trusted around them. I bite. I just need love and exercise. I don't know how to have a collar or leash on. I live with a one acre back yard with the ability to run. I would like it if you would spend some time outside with me when you put me out. I will love you to death. I just don't like other animals I get too hyper with them and I get confused then. This ... (Read More)behavior has only started in the last year. The four of us would play together outside for hours, now if they get near me I will hurt them if I can. Please, I ONLY HAVE A SHORT TIME LEFT BEFORE I WILL BE PUT TO SLEEP. I will be your best friend. I don't know how to play with anything but soda bottles and cardboard. I don't like toys. Occasional tug of war with a sock is fun too. Please help me and my mom. She is so very sick. I will post pictures soon (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet sweet, lovable Casey. We rescued Casey from a high kill shelter that thought she was pregnant. Turns out she wasn't pregnant but had probably had babies and was done rearing them when she was picked up. That means now she is ready to find her forever home! She's a little bit overweight since we were feeding her like she was pregnant, but luckily she LOVES to go for walks. She does well with other dogs of all ages, sizes and genders and likes to play with them as well as her human companions. She will also play well by herself and cuddle when it's time to settle down! If you think Casey might be a good fit for your family, please ... (Read More)visit our website to review the adoption process and complete an application. www.alwaysroom4morepaws.com (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Illinois
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Illinois Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States.
