Don't let the 'age' fool you, I'm a very sweet, friendly girl who has yet to meet a stranger in the short time I've been in the program. Already I've proven myself to be great with other dogs and small children; in fact I 'slimed' my new human 1-year-old foster sister immediately upon meeting her. For 78 pounds, I'm really gentle with her, too. I'm great in a crate, fully house-broken, and not terrible on a leash (come on, give me a little credit... Very sweet white female boxer-mix walking down a busy downtown Orlando street. There was a purse strap knotted around her neck but no tags. She was gentle and affectionate and appears healthy overall (i.e. her teeth, eyes, skin look good), but was a little timid, thin and dirty. She warmed up after a few minutes, sat calmly, and gave kisses. She is currently at Orange County Animal Services, and needs a great home. They will only hold her 5 days before they euthanize. Cadet is a rescue favorite here at Misfit. He is one of the sweetest and gentlest dogs you will ever meet. As you can see in his photo, he will just come over to you and flop down for belly rubs. He is only a year old, if that. Very good with other dogs and we believe would be great with kids as well. He can be playful when appropriate but is generally a pretty laid-back guy. He's one of those dogs we wouldn't mind having stick around for a while because he's 'easy.' You see I'm past that stage of my life. You might say I'm old, but I would say I'm mature. I am still a Boxer with those awesome Boxer traits but a mellowed down version; for example, I still get excited when you get home and I shake my nub but I sure don't break anything from the excitement (like your favorite picture frame). I'm completely housebroken, know how to loose-leash walk, can sleep comfortably and quietly in a crate for eight hours, and I don't demand a ton of exercise. Plus I don't have all those silly puppy traits like jumping or nipping at your heels when you walk. Think about it, you get all the perks with none of the pain of raising a young dog. Sweet deal, right? I'm looking for the right place to spend my golden years where I can get a consistent schedule and a minimum amount of love and attention to be happy. I love people, never met a stranger and those customers at Home Depot or the repair man seem to like me. I enjoy car rides, I even do well on longer car rides; even trips to vet, I'm not afraid at all. I walk with anticipation of all the affection I will get. My foster parents do not have cats so I don't know how I would get along with them but I like my foster brother, a younger fawn Boxer. If you want an easy-going Boxer to share your life with then give me a shot. And hey, I know you might have concerns about my health but let me tell you this: I've had my share of lumps and bumps like every other Boxer but I've yet to get a bad diagnosis. So, how 'bout it? Tank is a six-seven year old boxer/bulldog mix who was adopted from us in 2007. He currently weighs in at 75 lbs but he is on a diet. Tank was dearly loved by his adopter and was returned to us only because death parted them. When Tank's beloved Bill passed away, Tank was curled around him as a true friend to the end would be. Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
