Rescue Me ID: 16-10-27-00539Baby (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Baby is a great dog. Her downfall is barking. We've had her since she was a 9 week old pup. We've always lived in a house, and there was almost always someone home. Last year, everything changed. Everyone moved out on their own, and I moved into an apartment styled condo. From day one, she barked from the moment I left for work until I got home. A neighbor complained about the barking to the condo association. I have tried everything between training her to deal with the separation, to barking collars (static and ultrasonic), leaving the tv on, thundershirt, frozen kong with PB, and vet prescribed Xanax and Prozac. I then started to bring ... (Read More)her to my daughter's apartment, as she has a dog and figured that they could keep each other company, but Baby continued to bark there, disturbing my daughter's landlord upstairs. I cannot afford doggy daycare, so I am out of options. She is a lover. She loves to go for car rides and walks. I walk her at last 1-2 miles a day. She's great on the leash. My 3 yr old granddaughter loves to walk her on the leash. She loves people, and has a very keen sense of personality. Even children that are afraid of dogs love her. Downfalls: 1. Barking. She does not like to be left alone. She's not used to it. 2. She is food aggressive. She's mellowed out in her 'old age', but if there are other dogs, they have to be fed separately, and I don't eat dinner around her. 3. Last year she had a rather large bladder stone removed from her. Since then, she has to go frequently. On the plus side, I put down peepee pads for her, and she always goes on them if I am not able to get her out on a timely basis. So, she is trained. I love Baby. I do not want her to wind up in a shelter, and quit honestly, I wish I could afford to move back into a house, but I cannot right now. My hope is to find someone who is close to where I live so I can still visit with her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-17-00114Duke (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

If Duke were a cartoon character he would be Scooby Doo. He is goofy and clumsy and funny and cuddly. He is a big puppy and he loves to play and run around in the backyard and he's always excited to play in the water hose. He follows me around all day and just melts for belly rubs and cuddles on the sofa. He's incredibly smart and can learn just about anything very quickly. He gets along great with dogs and cats, but he would be just as happy being an only dog because he loves people most of all. He's an incredibly sweet boy and even though he's got a lot of energy he's very gentle. Those are the first things people notice and comment on ... (Read More)when they're not commenting on how handsome he is. He's going to grow up to be a great pup! Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Fergie is the most gorgeous and unique boxer girl! She too was used her whole life to produce puppies and then just tossed away when no longer needed anymore. We rescued her to keep her from being dumped out in the woods to fend for herself!!! Who would do such a thing?!? Fergie is a very sweet active boxer who loves her people very much. She adores her boxer friend Fauna but she is not so accepting of other dogs especially smaller ones who I think she just has had no exposure to. However, I feel she would do best in a home where she is the only dog. Fergie is about 4 years old and weighs about 50# and is just a great girl hoping for ... Rescue Me ID: 16-09-02-00114Rex (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ruh Roh, Scoopy Doo, our grand, supercharged Rex, is a sight to behold. He is a spectacular mix of Great Dane and Boxer, with a comedic glint in his dreamy hazel eyes. Three year old Rex just came to us from a local Animal Shelter, where his owners dumped him with little explanation. Shelter staff found Rex to be a real sweetheart, in need of a dog savvy owner, who can provide the attention and exercise he needs. Rex is a large, tall dog, although he only weighs 65 pounds. His Great Dane DNA provides a lean, leggy physique, and large head, while the Boxer input broadens the forehead and chest. Although Rex does not look overly muscular, he ... (Read More)is a strong, powerful dog, and he requires some physical strength to handle. We have worked on his leash handling, and he responds well to basic correction, and has become easy to walk. Rex would be a great fit for an active family with older kids, 10 and up, who are all on the same page about meeting his training and exercise needs. Also, he would be a superstar in the active adult home, and would be a wonderful outdoors companion, whether it be walking, hiking, running, camping, etc. He is an energetic boy, who requires sufficient exercise in order to maintain his equilibrium. Rex loves to be the center of attention, and he's not going to be happy if he is ignored or relegated to a fenced-in backyard, without any action. We would like to see him continue up the path to Canine Good Citizenship, so that Rex can be in the thick of things, enjoying activities with his family. He could easily join a pack with another well-trained dog. We have not had him around cats, but we suspect that he would chase them beyond their comfort level. As a large boisterous youngster, we feel that Rex is just too much dog to interact safely with toddlers. Rex is progressing nicely with his obedience training. He has grasped all of the basic commands, and responds to both Positive Reinforcement and Leadership techniques. As a mix of large powerful breeds, Rex needs adopters to continue with his obedience work, and help him move forward toward Canine Good Citizenship certification. Rex is in excellent health and is neutered. He has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as he transitions to a new home. Rex is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus, distemper, coronavirus, leptospirosis. He has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been an appropriate heartworm and flea/tick prevention medications. If you are interested in our handsome Rex, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com, or call/text Denise at cell: 860-908-9738 for an adoption application. (Less)

Lady is a 10 year old Boxer mix who was found as a stray in the woods. She was almost hairless and very emaciated. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Hi Everyone! This guy needs your help! Boxer/bulldog mix looking to be re-homed. He will be 2 on June 19 and is fully vaccinated + microchipped + neutered (will provide current medical history). He is crate and potty trained, and loves some quality time outside. He's a very sweet boy who loves to cuddle and sleep in the bed, but he is aggressive with other dogs and not so great with kids. He would definitely benefit from an owner who understands and has had experience with these behaviors. He no longer gets along with other dog in the home and owner is moving out of the state on May 25 so he needs to go to a loving family ASAP!

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Connecticut
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

Boxer
lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Connecticut Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Approximately 1 in 5 boxers are born white, and almost 20% of white boxers are deaf.
