Rescue Me ID: 15-05-23-00333Harrison (male)
Harrison has one motivation in life: Love. We have no idea what his true mix is because 'Purebred Sweetheart' isn't a breed, but that's just what he'd be if there was such a thing!! Harrison is one of those rare 'old soul' puppies: A calm, chill pup who is very friendly with other dogs, adores people and wags his tail at just a glance his way! He might even have a career as a therapy dog! Harrison and his brother Hudson were brought in as strays, casualties of yet another unwanted litter in rural AR. Harrison has been around men, women and children and he has been wonderful, respectful and obedient beyond his age. Because of his love of canine companionship we will only consider homes that already have another dog in the home, or who will adopt his brother Hudson as well -- after all, they're kind of like having one dog anyway! We think Harrison is only about 9 months old, he weighs about 40 pounds and he is a healthy boy. If you're looking for a boy who will return your love tenfold, please visit www.pinkshelter.com for more information about the adoption process or click here for our online application. Full vetting AND neuter included in his $300 adoption fee. Harrison is in Arkansas and transport fee is additional $140. IF YOU HAVE AOL or YAHOO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FILE FOR OUR RESPONSE. About Little Pink Shelter - CT Chapter About Our Rescue Group... Little Pink Shelter is a registered 501(c)3 charity. Based in Westport, CT, The Little Pink Shelter was started by one dog loving woman who, after having won her battle against breast cancer, decided to help shelter dogs win their fight for a second chance at life. Today, The Little Pink Shelter is directed solely by Holly who works closely with select shelters and rescues in Arkansas, where too many wonderful dogs are put down because of lack of space. Since founding The Little Pink Shelter, Holly has placed over 2.000+ dogs and puppies into loving homes. Come Meet Our Pets... We do not have a facility in Connecticut, so you can only visit The Little Pink Shelter on the internet. Our dogs and puppies are usually fostered in the south and the overwhelming majority of them are adopted out before they arrive so they can go right home after transport and begin bonding with their new forever families! Check out the 'Love Fests' Albums on our Facebook Fan Page! We are always in search of short term foster homes up here in Connecticut and the surrounding states!!! If you're not ready for a full 15+ year commitment, or if you have always wanted to help in some way, please consider short-term fostering a dog or puppy for us! Write us for more info! Our Adoption Process... The first step in the process is submitting an online application located through a link in each pet's description, or from our website at www.pinkshelter.com under the 'How to Adopt' tab. Whenever possible we like to begin review with a vet reference. After that, we will be in touch to set up a lengthy phone interview where each of us has the opportunity to ask all our questions of the other. Home visits are at our discretion. Once approved, there is a contract and transport is arranged if necessary. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-24-00076Whitney (female)
Lovely Whitney is a striking looking brindle girl, with a sleek, agile physique build for speed. She is a lean, medium sized dog, who is a manageable 30 pounds and just nine months old. Our shelter contacts suggest that Whitney is primarily Brindle Boxer, with some German Shepherd or Whippet DNA mixed in that streamlined her features, and elongated her muzzle. Her ears and tail are natural, and enhance her exotic look. Whitney, and her brother, Bobby, came to us from a high kill city shelter, where their plight raised quite a hullabaloo on social media. We agreed to take Whitney at Shelter request, but were unaware that her brother, Bobby was scheduled to be euthanized the next morning. After a flurry of frantic text messages and emails, we were able to snatch up Bobby as well, and reunite the pair at our country rescue. Whitney and Bobby were picked up as city strays and transported to the unforgiving shelter environment, where their good natures seem to carry them through the chaos and uncertainty that other dogs can't withstand. The behavior evaluations that these two received were simply outstanding. They made friends wherever they went, and had many advocates networking on their behalf to get them into rescue, a chance at a new life. Whitney is somewhat bonded to her brother, enough to guarantee an amicable pair, should an adopter be interested in adopting both. However, we have socialized them separately so that they can be adopted apart and integrate beautifully into another multi-dog home. Whitney likes other dogs, but may be too high energy to live with senior dogs or cats. As a spirited puppy, Whitney is at an impressionable stage in her development. She is a high energy dog that needs a lot of exercise and focused play time. She needs at least two or three brisk leash walks, and even some running, to siphon off her energy and create a balanced slate for obedience training. We have started Whitney in puppy kindergarten, and she's grasping the basics of the Canine Good Citizenship program quickly. Adopters will have a wonderful time continuing her training, and helping her reach her great potential. Just nine months old, Whitney is mostly potty trained, but needs some fine tuning in that area. She is nicely crate trained so adopters will have that tool to use during her transition. Adopters are expected to trouble shoot potty issues, since rescue dogs undergo such drastic disruptions to their routine, that they lose a good deal of their house training mojo during the rescue process. Whitney has an all-around fabulous personality, and greets strangers enthusiastically, but she is behind the learning curve in some of the social niceties. She is a strong girl, with a tendency to jump up and plant a big wet kiss on strangers; the 'off ' command must be consistently applied so that she doesn't knock Grandma to the ground, out of sheer love. Whitney is in excellent health, and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Whitney, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-26-00467Flyer (male)
Flyer came into rescue quite by accident. He was originally owned by a band of Gypsies who were passing through a small Louisiana town when a rescuer spotted them. What caught her eye is that they were all on bicycles and one was towing a Red Flyer wagon with an unrestrained gangly puppy inside. When she chided them for subjecting the puppy to the dangers of street traffic, they asked her to take him as he was rapidly outgrowing the wagon. She did and brought him to the shelter where he was named Flyer after the wagon he spent so much time in. Luckily for Flyer, he is in foster care, where he spends his days playing in a large yard with other dogs, both large and small. He has boundless energy and will definitely need daily walks plus some hikes and yard play in his new home. He does walk well on a leash, though his curiosity oftentimes distracts him (see video). He likes to play with toys, both fuzzy and squeaky, but he is not a retriever. Since Flyer is now approaching maturity, he should not get much bigger than his current frame and weight (75-80#). He is still enough of a puppy, however, to soak up new experiences and training to make him a valuable member of any family. He may be too big and puppyish for small children. He is so sweet and gentle with litters of orphaned puppies, it is so sweet to see! Flyer is housebroken and crate trained and has a gorgeous, shiny black haircoat. He's at the top of his game, so if you think Flyer is your "guy," please copy and paste this link in your web browser and fill out our online application, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html. All vetting included in his $325 adoption fee. We cannot be certain what his true mix is. Transport is an additional $185 paid directly to the transporter. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-30-00373Maggie (female)
This sweet girl has been in our rescue for over a year ... and although her foster family loves her dearly - and we all do too! - Maggie deserves an AWESOME forever home! Part of the reason she's been here so long is that she needed surgery to correct tears in two ACLs. But that's been done, she's all healed up, and she's ready and waiting to go home with her forever family. Maggie is a little over two years old. She is drop dead GORGEOUS - a rottie / boxer mix. She's a big girl at about 85 lbs, but she's not high energy at all - in fact two of her favorite things to do are cuddling and sleeping! :) Because of her size, she needs children in the family to be 13 years or older - she could bowl over little ones without meaning to. Dogs? Maggie likes other dogs! She'd love to have a canine brother or sister! Cats? Maggie likes cats! She does want to play with them, so dog-savvy cats are preferable. Training? Maggie is professionally trained. She knows all of her basic commands. Her advanced commands, too! Maggie is spayed, up to date with all her shots, has tested negative for heartworm, Lyme Disease, and parasites, and is even microchipped. Now all she needs is for her family to find her! If you know anyone who might want to add a totally terrific pup to their family, please share this post with them. AND if you'd like more information please private message our Facebook page or email: firstname.lastname@example.org Let's get Maggie to a forever home! She SO deserves it! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Connecticut
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.
