Hi there! I'm Kayla; I'm an American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix, and I'm at least 5 years old. I first came to the shelter when I was just a 3 month old pup, I lived here until I was adopted at 3 years old, and I was brought back to the shelter on June 8th because I killed a chicken... Okay, okay... I killed more than one chicken... but they taste JUST like chicken! Aside from REALLY liking chickens, I'm a really good girl! I've always lived outside, but I am potty trained and I am not destructive in the house when allowed inside (and I really do enjoy being inside now that I'm an older girl)! I get along great with other dogs and their ... (Read More)owners, I love kids and their owners, and I'm still undecided on how I feel about cats! I hope I don't have to be here another 3 years, but until I get adopted, wanna come at least walk me? Hope to see you soon! Kisses, Kayla (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Chopper is an amazing little guy that is extremely eager to please! We rescued him from a high-kill shelter in GA where he was to be euthanized due to lack of space. We think Chopper is a pitbull-boxer mix and we're estimating him to be about 1 year old. He weighs approximately 40 lbs. and probably won't grow much bigger. He's got a beautiful black brindle coat and a very cute tail that curls up over itself when he's happy! Chopper knows some basic commands like sit, and come. He is learning so quickly and is doing such a great job. He is even kennel and house trained too! We feel that Chopper would make a perfect addition to any family, so ... (Read More)please consider him when you're looking for your new furry friend! Our adoption process begins with you meeting Chopper. Please feel free to contact us to schedule a play date with him and your existing dog(s). After you fill out an application, we will verify your references and do a brief home inspection. If all goes well, we will deliver Chopper to you for a small adoption fee. You will also have the option to purchase a large wire kennel for an additional fee. We then ask that you sign our adoption contract. We will do a follow-up visit approximately two weeks to one month after the adoption to ensure that Chopper is adjusting well to his new home and that he is happy and healthy. We feel our adoption process is the best way to vet good owners and to guard against people seeking dogs for dog fighting, bait dogs, and/or dog sales. Breed bans will be respected. We only have our rescue dogs' best interest in mind and we do everything we can to insure that they go to the very best home and that it's the perfect fit. (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Genta Boxer/Lab Mix Female 2 years old 45 lbs. Oh, excuse me, were you trying to do some yoga? I thought you were getting on the floor so that we could snuggle. Well, since we are both down here, feel free to give my belly a good scratch while doing your own downward dog. Yup, to the left a little bit'| that'sssssss the spot. Good form, by the way! Since we are getting so cozy, I guess introductions are in order! My name is Genta, and while I too enjoy staying fit by running laps and stretching my limbs, I also pride myself on being the ultimate companion to my human pals. Ever since the awesome folks at PawsCo scooped me up from ... (Read More)Leadville, I have excelled at reading my humans. When they are happy, my tail is wagging a mile a minute! When they are running late for work, I run around the house trying to find their keys (and maybe chasing my tail a bit too). As much as I love being around my human companions, I struggle a bit with sharing my space with another dog friend. Therefore, I'd do best in a home as the only dog. Don't worry-I'll give you so much love and affection that you won't even think about needing to add another dog companion to the household! And I promise to continue to work with my potential new family to learn how to feel more comfortable around new dogs (I'm so young and so eager to learn!) While I enjoy being the center of my human's attention, I am certainly not a diva. All I ask for in a forever home is love, patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and hot dogs. I almost forgot to tell you: I am only three, maybe four, dozen packages of hot dogs away from learning how to roll over! (Not to worry, I already mastered sit and lay down). I am so very eager to please and work hard to channel my nervous energy into loving affection for my people. I just know that my forever family will help me work past those nervous quirks so that all my love shines through my bright brown eyes! If you are looking for the perfect excuse to skip that workout and snuggle on the floor instead, send my pals at PawsCo an email at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org, or fill out an adoption application on their website. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Huck Black Lab mix Male 10 months old 40 lbs. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh-I'm so excited! Wanna know why? Because I just know you're going to be the human who gives me a forever home. I can feel it. Can you? I think we might be soul mates! I'm sure you're thinking 'oh what an adorable little guy!' And, yes, while I am quite the handsome guy, there are so many more wonderful traits I will bring to an awesome human companion! Let's see%BD'%BD|where do I start? First of all, I love cuddling! My favorite thing is to curl up right alongside a loving human (preferably with my soul mate-that's you!). I also love to play (I am a puppy, ... (Read More)after all!), squeaky toys, rope toys, bones, balls, my crate, and forever homes. I also am completely potty trained, have learned so much for a young pup in my foster home, and am ready to show off all that I've learned (I already know sit and lay down!) to a loving and adoring forever family. As I'm sharing all these wonderful traits about me, there's one thing I should mention that I'm still working on a bit. I'm a bit unsure of other dog friends and I'm still learning how to greet them appropriately. After some time adjusting to the other dogs in my foster home, I am now the best of friends with them but I will need a commitment from my forever family to help me ease into new relationships with dog friends. I do seem to do best with more docile female dogs and seem to get along with them pretty instantly! And the good folks at PawsCo are always committed to meet and greets with any potential dog siblings before adoption. So%BD'%BD|let's recap! I love toys. I love forever homes. I love playing. I love people. And did I mention I love forever homes? That place where you live-it just happens to be the kind of forever home I've been waiting for! What a coincidence. So let's not beat around the bush here. We'll do the whole meet-and-greet thing so we can confirm our soul mate connection!     Molly Boxer/Basenji mix Female 1.5 years old 45 lbs. Meet Molly 'Which way did he go, George? Which way did he go?' Hiya! My name is Molly and I love running and romping around my foster family's backyard. My doggy foster siblings and I tend to tire each other out by playing and then go ... (Read More)inside to snuggle with our foster humans. Boy oh boy, do I love to snuggle! Speaking of snuggling, when I'm not by you or playing with other pups or kiddos I'll hang out in my crate, especially if I'm enticed with some yummy peanut butter or cheese - those are my favorite! Now, I know humans like to keep a clean house, so I have been taught to ask politely when I need to go out and use the potty and when I want to come back in. While I like to stay busy, I do want to let you know that I won't be a long distance running dog or hiking any 14ers any time soon. I have something called 'Coccidiomycosis.' I know my big 'ol ears perked up when those vet people told me that I had this, but rest assured, it's not contagious to anyone and doesn't hold me back from playing. What it means is that I'll be on a daily medicine for a while (and possibly for my life) and may have to take it easy every once in a while. But I don't let that slow me down or deter me from playing with squirrels (or kitties%BD'%BD|I've discovered they don't really appreciate chase, so I'd do best in a kitty-free home.) I hope I can join your pack of kiddos and pups and have a lifetime of cuddles and tug-of-war games. Boxer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Molly! I was rescued from a Texas shelter last fall - and have been loving my life along the front range ever since! I'm looking for a home without young children, cats or female dogs. I have shared my foster home with a mellow male dog & we were great pals... so, I may befriend another equally mellow male dog... but I'm also content to be queen of the castle :) I am happy to meet people and I'm respectful of them and their belongings. I like to put on a little show for new people & returning friends - it's quite the schmoozing I do - and it works every time :) They love me up - and I love the love! I'm so soft, it's hard NOT to ... (Read More)want to pet me. I will alert you to strangers at the door, but I'll welcome them openly, if you do the same. I am not a bother & can be left alone in the house, day or night. I never disturb what is not mine. I don't chew, dig or bark excessively. I don't need to be the center of attention, but will always enjoy a belly rub. I don't beg for food from the table - but may watch you like a hawk, in the kitchen... just in case something yummy falls to the floor. I even make the cutest chomping sound (like a bark without the noise) and pitter-pat my paws, when I'm anticipating food or a walk. I won't assume you want me next to you, but usually will jump up or join in, if invited. I can be left alone all day or be part of the party all night - I'm easy to please! I LOVE WALKS!! I get very excited when I know we're going, put on my funny pants, and dance around like it's the best thing to happen to me! I'm easy to walk on a standard harness and will walk one block or ten - I'm just happy to walk. I will thrive in a home where I am walked daily. Other dogs in the neighborhood only excite me if they get too close. Dog parks are not for me. My life before arriving here, was probably very different. Getting the love, attention and respect I now have, was maybe new to me... but I have grown to understand that I am a good girl - worthy of love & respect. I have learned that it feels wonderful to be part of a caring home. I continue to surprise my foster family by learning new things and having grown out of my old shell - I'm goofier & more playful now, than maybe I've ever been :) I'm looking for a home without too many surprises or chaos... somewhere I can be given love & walks (and treats)... somewhere I can stretch out & nap in the sunshine... somewhere I can feel both wanted & respected. I'm just waiting for a place in your heart & home! Adoption fee is $80 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Adoption fees also allow us to continue saving animals. Please email ARRColorado@gmail.com for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application here. Since I am a Pitbull mix, I can't be adopted or fostered in the following banned areas: Denver, Aurora, Castle Rock, Commerce City, Ft Lupton, Lone Tree, or Louisville (Less)

Cleo is a wonderful dog. She plays well at doggie daycare and never gets aggressive with the kids. My backyard is small and it does not afford her the space to run and exercise to match her temperament. She is able to jump my 4ft fence. She would do well with someone who is able to walk/run with her most days. She is playful and travels well in car.

Meet Joey! He is an active Boxer mix who is an attention-hog! Joey needs a strong pack leader and obedience training. Joey loves attention from people more than anything in this world. Joey loves to go for walks and would be a great running and hiking companion. He would love to be the only pet in a home, though Joey has learned to be in a pack with other dogs of his size. He does well with other dogs that he knows. Sometimes, Joey may need a couple days of knowing a new dog before he wants to play with them. Once he makes friends, he's a fun playmate! Joey would benefit greatly from obedience training with his new best friend and pack ... (Read More)leader. He knows the command 'Sit' already. With love, time and training, Joey will be an amazing dog! Joey is super sweet and adores people and kids. He loves giving kisses! He latches on very quickly, especially to women, once you let him warm up to you. Joey has a high prey drive and should not be in a home with small dogs, cats or any animals smaller than him. Joey should only be around older kids until he learns manners and patience. Joey has shown jealous tendencies when other dogs or small kids get attention from 'his' humans instead of him. He will try to get in on the love! A strong pack leader and obedience training will greatly benefit Joey and help satisfy his need for attention. Adoption fee is $80 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Adoption fees also allow us to continue saving animals. Please email ARRColorado@gmail.com for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Boxer in Colorado
Boxer Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. Boxer dogs are energetic, playful and intelligent animals, they like to clown around a lot and will keep you laughing. Boxers learn new things quickly, and, at the same time, can be clever and stubborn. Boxer dogs bond well with a family, are very affectionate and get along well with children. Boxers need a lot of exercise, and will be well-behaved as long as they are taken on long walks every day. If kept confined without a lot of exercise, however, boxer dogs can become destructive. Boxers require lots of human companionship and should never be left alone for long periods of time.

lnteresting Boxer Trivia Low-Cost Colorado Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name boxer originates from the fact that boxer dogs look like they are actually boxing when they play using their front paws. The boxer was originally bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. Boxers were first introduced at a dog show in Munich, Germany in 1895. Boxer dogs are the sixth most popular breed in the United States.
